It's been a long time since this device was available for such a low price and I think the lowest price at all other than import. Getting on a bit now but it is still the last of the Samsung powerhouses, as everything since has compromised durability for the sake of design. If you want one it might be time to bite as Note devices rarely dip below this type of price before they go out of production.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is the next generation of Notes delivering a slightly bigger version of the popular note taking phablet, with a much bigger performance. With innovative S Pen technology and a huge 5.7-inch Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Super AMOLED screen, donning an incredibly impressive 515ppi, the Note 4 offers the best possible viewing experience and the most powerful multitasking tools that make everyday life easier and faster.

The Galaxy Note 4 boasts a powerful processor and 3GB of RAM. This ensures that the Note 4 delivers a device performance unmatched by the rest of the market.

The Galaxy Note 4 also got an upgraded camera, pushing its predecessor's 13MP camera up to a full 16MP Optical Image Stabilization Camera with an insane amount of features ranging from Smart Stabilization and high CRI LED flash to Panoramic Photography and Simultaneous HD Video and Image Capturing. The Galaxy Note 4 isn't afraid of movies either as it can record 4K HD videos at 30FPS and 1080p Full HD videos at 60FPS. The front facing camera also has a stellar 3.7MP Camera capable of taking 1080p Full HD videos as well.

The S Pen stylus technology and Air Command also has been integrated into the Note 4. The innovative S Pen user experience simplifies using the smartphone by providing a menu of five different options that will enable tasks to be completed faster. The need to switch between screens or memorize different gestures is no longer needed as Air Command will provide you with the following key functions: Action Memo, Scrapbook, Screen Write, S Finder and Pen Window.

Action Memo will provide the ability to quickly jot down a note and automatically execute an action, or transform said note into formatted content. Scrapbook enables better organization and the ability to find content from different sources, including YouTube, the web and photo gallery; and compile it into one place to be viewed at one time. The Screen Write feature works as a screen-shot of what's currently displayed with an option that allows for comments and notes to be written on the newly captured image. S Finder allows for a comprehensive search on the entire device via keywords or filters such as date, location, type etc. in one simple, quick gesture. Pen Window will enable sketches and comments on the screen, much like Screen Write, as well as it opens a small application window with quick access to a series of different apps for an even better multitasking experience. The Note 4 can also be easily synced with Evernote or a Samsung account, meaning saved content can be accessed from another device anytime.

With more power, a larger screen and an amazing multitasking experience, the Note 4 is a phablet that was designed to improve and simplify your day to day life as well as provide you with an experience that only a Samsung could deliver.

Got mine at Christmas. Gorgeous screen, powerful and I still haven't used half the features. The size/weight still doesn't go unnoticed sometimes but I will carry on for now as it does what I want really well.

I've had since launch in I think September 2014. It's a great phone, when my contract is up I can't see the point in changing to any of the current phones as nothing seems much better than this.

Anyhow a good price so good find and heat added.

11 May 16 #24
It's one of the best phones for battery life. Lollipop killed it a little, but marshmallow should bring it back to KitKat levels, potentially higher. A lot of review sites show lollipop being better, but generally speaking because of the mobile radio active bug there's a significant battery drain.

last best Note... if my current phone broke this would be the phone I would get today. Great battery, best screen, so fast... removable battery/memory... just ticks ALL the boxes. wonderful build quality as well.

The Note 6 should bring back MicroSD cards... still not happy with the battery though as I keep my phones long enough to see batteries needing replacement to know how important it is.

Would this be a considerable upgrade from my Samsung S3?
sancheez to amyp88
11 May 16 #35
Yes. (If you get it, and it ships with KitKat, I would leave it like that until you can get a proper Marshmallow install for it. Samsung's implementation of Lollipop was pretty horrible. Hated it on my Note 3.)
7abs8
11 May 16 #33
Does anyone know if the code can be used in-store?
sancheez
11 May 16 #34
I'll wish you luck with that.

Just before I sold my Note 1, I dropped it. Phone was fine but the pen must have come out and I didn't notice. So I bought one just like this ("genuine" .... lol ... yeah right) from Ebay.

It looked right. Samsung branding and everything. Fitted perfect. Gave it a quick try. Seemed fine.

Then I tried it properly a few days later. That's when you discover why it was under a fiver. The accuracy was all over the place. It was completely unusable. A quick tap? Seemed fine. Proper use? No chance.

So check it properly. I'd say 95% likely it'll be a fake. But if you're lucky it might be better than the one I got and it'll actually work properly. The genuine one is still £20. So you have to ask, how can these guys possibly be selling "genuine" ones at this price? Simple answer, they can't.

Thanks, easy enough to upgrade to marshmallow? Is the camera any good? My ageing S3 camera is poor now compared with the latest phone models
sancheez
11 May 16 #37
Upgrade, as and when it finally becomes available, will be a simple install.

Can't comment on the Camera, but I'd be amazed if it wasn't an improvement on the S3. I gave up on Samsung after my Note 3 as I got sick of hobbled Android builds and them taking forever to push new versions. (Marshmallow is almost a year old now so that they only just rolling it out to a phone this new and powerful now is a joke!)

I've switched to Nexus. Only native Android for me now. I do miss the s-pen but, besides that, I prefer the Nexus (6p) in just about every other way. (And it's up to date!)

The camera?!?!? You can't futureproof a camera? Best futureproofing (FWIW in the mobile world - not a lot) on 'Droid is Google stuff. They update WAY faster than the 3rd party stuff and tend to support devices longer.

A.N.Other importer based in Hong Kong. So all the usual caveats about import duty, 4g bands, warranty and return issues ... etc etc.

Trustpilot reviews pretty much confirm that. Usual mixed bag although more positive than some I've seen.

Hardly a few years - just over 18 months. And it's old tech only in the sense that a Miele washing machine is old tech after a couple of years.

They're well designed, well made and highly functional. And there still hasn't been another phone made that can better it - including Note 5.

I've tried 3 separate new UK Note 4's

I found battery life to be awful on all 3.

After my usual usage by lunchtime (1h of web/twitter, a few 10 minute calls, 3h Bluetooth music streaming to headset, a few texts and Whatsapp messages and Gmail push etc) the Note 4's were down to about 25-35%

My Z3 Compact with same use is on around 85%

I'm not comparing features or specs, but it drives me nuts when everyone raves about the Note 4 battery life.
Uridium to locktheworldout
11 May 16 #73
God only knows what you were doing with those phones then.....Don't think I've ever seen less than a day out of mine with very heavy use and usually get closer to 48hrs between charges...

My wife has a Z3 compact...great phone with great battery life I agree but it doesn't compete with a Note 4 on battery life.
Newbold to locktheworldout
11 May 16 2 #75

I've had the note 4 since december 2014 as well (contract I found on hukd:) )
re battery life - originally it was awesome, easily lasted 2-3 days of normal use or a day and a half of high use i.e. fair bit of gaming, videos etc.
I hadn't heard of the lollipop battery drain bug so maybe that's the problem with mine - I often have to charge mine multiple times per day now which I imagine is fairly detrimental to the battery as it gets quite warm during fast charging... I do use it a lot though. If I'm busy all day and don't play games much it still easily lasts the full day still.

The pen despite being awesome and one of the main reasons I went for this phone is mostly used to tell people that I have this awesome pen feature... The phone isn't really big enough to draw stuff properly imo (maybe i just have ham fists)
Also for those saying they've lost the pen, there's a setting that notifies you when the pen is detached if you're too far away I think, so that helps to stop it disappearing.

I know gumtree is not that place where you should buy new/refurbished/used stuff but I got one Note 4 out from there. Just decided to give a shot risking myself to bite a bullet later but … so far so good.
Anyway, my comment here is about the phone and price of this posted deal.
Phone is excellent. Camera is superb, AMOLED screen is fantastic and phone itself is fast.

Price £339? Yes and No. For me still expensive so I was looking for cheaper options and got mine for £240 black unlocked mint condition (no any scratches or marks to body and screen) in original packaging all accessories + genuine new S View case worth £30 and above from amazon.
If Samsung outlet had this phone for £279 manufacturer refurbished + 12 months warranty than I would purchase it directly from Samsung but its out of stock for the recent 2 months at least
sancheez
11 May 16 #79
The other thing to bear in mind with this phone is that Marshmallow is likely to be the last update it ever gets. Samsung are a disgrace on this front. My Tab S tablet still hasn't got Marshmallow and it was their flagship 7/8" tablet when I bought it. Note 3 never made it past the godawful version of Lollipop ...

To answer my own question earlier , despite it going back out of stock as soon as we had it in the basket and appearing as OOS on all the purchasing forms from there on in, it did indeed let us purchase the GOLD and it's supposedly on its way to me now  so even though it said OOS once we had got it in basket , they've followed through

I didn't really want to pay over £300 but I've wanted one for over a year and missed out on the last price drop around Christmas so well happy , and it might be 'old tech' but its perfectly usable tech and the better 'new tech isn't available for £340 and I don't need that newer tech or speed either ...

A "few years" is actually 18 months. Quad core 2.7GHz 3GB RAM 1440 x 2560 pixels AMOLED upgradeable to Marshmallow 6.0.1. Records video [email protected] Not exactly old tech.

Beware of this Hong Kong seller ...
I received one last week from this seller. It took him nearly a month to dispatch.
The software is flashed ! So the banking apps do not work. I am going to return it. Might have to wait for over a month to get my refund.
I am considering this one. Don't mind paying extra to save all this hassle.

Hey chaps,

To answer both of your questions; I would probably just put it away for future use, use my current phone (iPhone 6+) or just swop over every few months. I guess spending £300+ on something that may drop even further due to the Note 6 coming out at soon point would be silly...

Decisions.....decisions!!!

not worth keeping for future use. I was waiting for the note 6 but realised it won't work for me as it will have a bigger screen. so no good as a phone anymore.

Might get this. I'm on sim only and waiting for a good deal on a decent phone. Ive got the Galaxy S4 at the moment. would this be a good i
upgrade? Does anyone find the s pen any good. i never use them and my hands/arms get pain from typing all the time.

You are better off buying it from Amazon warehouse deals for 60 quid less it sells as 'used' but its just the packaging thats damaged I got mine for £289 in basically brand new condition, just have to check the condition so its not scracthed.

Might be worth an email or phone call to samsung to ask them if they will still apply the discount for anyone who still wants it.

Keep an eye out on eBay for SM-N910C Note 4 (supplied by sellers in UK only), as mentioned you can pick these up for £200 in new condition. They trend at around £300 - £350 so you need to be on the ball. Look for listings ending after 9 pm mid week as apposed to items ending on weekends where more people are bidding.

My spare ebay £2.99 S-Pen arrived this morning. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252384699544]clicky here

I've played with the £2.99 Pen along with the original one that came with the phone and if I had not been sure to keep them away from each other there is no way I can tell them apart.

It looks physically exactly the same, feels the same, the button click sounds the same and they appear to work exactly they same with the phone.

If its a fake then its a bloody good one - I think it may well really be an original Samsung one.

Any way as I said if you are concerned about losing your S-Pen this may be a good time to get a spare or two to keep in the box as a standby.

At just £2.99 I might get another...........just in case

(There are other sellers on ebay for not much more - this was just the seller I used and the cheapest I could see at the time).
