Not really because its their vacuums that they are renowned for. But any how, it was in response to a certain post in a certain tone (if you read through the thread you shall see).

Miele also make washing machines, dishwashers, tumble driers ... 'hoovers' ... what an ill-informed thing to say

I have a Samsung American ff and the insulation on it must be terrible as the compressor runs a lot more than previous ff's I've owned. this was verified when I had the power off for about 30 mins and the freezer temp had risen from -15C to -5C!

haha, yeah if only it were that simple. I'm not wrong in thinking that a temp change of that much in such a short period of time isn't right am i?

I quit mumsnet as I got fed up with all the mums complaining about their dodgy Samsung FF's
Miele should stick to making hoovers.

Samsung should stick to TVs and DVD players etc, that's what they are good at.

You should stick to mumsnet
Had my Samsung American FF for 5 years now, not missed a beat, yet my Miele washing machine which is meant to be amazing has had about 5 problems so far! every electrical appliance has the capacity to go wrong, regardless of the brand.
Although, i would avoid Very like the plague

Good price - heat added.
I have a Samsung 2026 "American Style" fridge freezer and have had it for 15 years without a single thing going wrong.
We have replaced a clear tray and a plastic flap that we broke through our own carelessness but these were quite cheap from partsmaster so all in all my experience of these is that they are excellent and would expect the latest model to be even better

Good price, although we went for one that was plumbed in - ice and cold water on tap without any effort (6 monthly filter change, about £12 a time). Had to get a Gas engineer out to disconnect and move the Oven so we could get this thing in the back door though, they are blooming big!

Owned a Daewoo US Style FF since 2009 & not had a single issue with it once in that time. Paid £499 for it then. Great buy

Exactly the same experience.
If you are still having problems there is a good video on youtube showing how to fit the modified parts. I followed this and found that the samsung engineer had made an error in fitting the modified part. Also I was able to totally defrost the back panel and clear the condensate drain. Our fridge now only ices up rarely, and if it starts to make the noises associated with icing up, I just switch it off for one night and it seems to be OK again.

American fridge? But I only buy UK food!
This deal, like this fridge, is ridiculously cold.

My Samsung American Fridge Freezer is about 6 years old and has also had a lot of problems. The back of the fridge keeps freezing up and blocking the fans. It happened twice under the two year warranty and they apparently fitted an improved part to stop the issue the 2nd time, a year later the same issue appeared again though. Basically every year the fridge side needs a full defrost with the doors open for about 24 hrs, though if you get the screwdriver out and the hairdryer on you can sort it in about two hours. Spoke to the Samsung service team at the three year point saying it was the same issue that was a known fault and they did not care one bit, their two years were up and I could either pay for a service or buy a new fridge. The whole process has actually put me of Samsung as a brand because the after sales is so poor.

Good price, but don't think this will fit through my door...I assume it is one unit only.

We have a similar one and were able to arrange the delivery (from currys) to include them removing the doors so they could get it into the house. With the doors off it's not that bad to move, could see if they can do similar?

The handles will come off most fridges like this, and most tend to be just below the exact width of a 'standard' door. So worth double checking measurements if you really want one but are unsure.

The doors come of to reduce the depth and weight. Makes it a suitable size to get through most corridors and fairly tight turns.

You are quite correct, hence my post said that it was an earlier version. However, even after two factory upgrades the unit still occasionally malfunctions. So, if I were going to but an American FF by Samsung again (which I might as they are very nice fridges to use) I would make sure I had a very good warranty as the out of warranty repair costs are very expensive. I didn't dis the deal or vote cold, just urged caution.

We have an earlier version of this fridge freezer and have had a lot of problems with it. All fixed under warranty, until it ran out, then I have had it apart a couple of times myself thanks to YouTube videos on how to repair.
Make sure you get an extended warranty on more than the compressor.

That's a bad example. You got an earlier version that means it's not this version so I guess they have updated the product, hence the fault.

I have an American Style Fridge Freezer and absolutely love it.
The price of this is good, although it is also the same price on AO whose customer services is IMHO better than Curry's when it comes to returns (though I am sure there are unhappy customers for every company)
I chose to have a plumbed style with ice maker (Similar to this so the chilled water is always on tap and the ice is constantly replaced
but with those you do lose some freezer space for the ice maker. But I will never buy a freezer without an ice maker again as its a bit like having a dishwasher - once you have one, you (nearly always) have one
