If I am going to go through a level for the 2nd time then that should be because I want to replay it and not because the game is fundamentally broken and has lost my progress.

I've actually really been enjoying the storyline. It's a game that is quite narrative driven, in a similar way to Alan Wake. If you liked Alan Wake (I loved it!), then you'll like this.
