The speaker (you need the radio to go with it) was until recently £29.95 so this is very good value.
It is now half the lowest price recorded on CamelCamel. Probably clearing old stock with the changes in product range.

I have Tempus and XT models, the speaker only works if you plug it into the headphone socket, it also seems very quiet for the size of the speaker. Tried plugging it into my laptop as well, still very quiet.
I think it is going back.

Just in case you missed it yesterday.
Solder another socket to the left and right pin of the aux socket and insert a blank 3.5mm plug in to the original aux.
They are not compatible with the 1XT, only the S.
You can insert a fake Jack then solder a new socket to the far left and right pin of the socket on the xt main board. That's what I have done.

Could you not put a jack that works (1xt) on the cable that comes from the s1 speaker. I don't know where you would get that jack from. I don't know if I fancy soldering inside the radio.

Got this back from Pure "The S1 speaker is not compatible with the Evoke 1xt or the 1xt range of radios that we have previously manufactured. The S1 speaker has been designed to work with the 1s range, you would require a xt1 speaker for your radio. "

Just tried and it works! But there seems to be some resistance, maybe a spring in the socket stopping it from being left pulled out slightly, it pops all the way out instead so I don't think tape would work.
I'll see if I have an extension cable or adapter I can try with it.

Just tried the - not quite pushing it all the way in - technique and it works. looks like the jack size is slightly different. Thinking about putting some tape on top of the female side to stop the jack going ll he way in.

Might be a different size jack - I've emailed Pure to ask them is they are compatible. Hopefully they will get back to me tomorrow.

Mine came today too. I have an Evoke 1xt. Doesn't work when plugged in but I did notice it works if you hold the plug in just the right place, about 1-2mm from 'all the way in'. No way to get it to stay there though. :disappointed:

That can't just be a coincidence, maybe it's not compatible then but surely it's got the power to get some sound out of it. I'll have to try and find the specs of the 1XT speaker to see if they're different or not.

I also plugged mine into the output of my Evoke 1XT also and no sound came out of it. Tried my mobile phone and some sound came out but very quiet. I'm not sure if the 1XT has the current output to drive the speaker or the speaker is faulty. I'll try and ring Pure tomorrow to see if they are compatible

For any one who has this is the volume as loud as the radio speaker? I got mine today for the Evoke 1XT, plugged it into the aux speaker socket and couldn't tell the difference. There's no thump from the speaker like you would expect. I plugged it into my phone and on full volume just got some sound out of it but it's very very quiet! I think I have a faulty one :disappointed:

This is a decent price for a single speaker but am I right in saying the evoke already has stereo? What kind of usage case would warrant this?
No this is a passive speaker, you need an active speaker (built in amp) for that.

If you use two of them and add an amplifier as well. Some trivial hacking required (cut off the speaker plug and connect the stripped ends to the speaker output from your amp.

Wish it was the black one, do like my Flow but not enough to shed out £30+ for an extra speaker. Good spot for anyone who has the maple one though.

well if you don't mind a slight mismatch in colour & size, why not try it? (you have the option for an aux speaker on the back panel)?
