In my opinion the Airfryer is better than the Actifry, but I am only basing that on the fact that I've had chips cooked in an Actifry at a friend's house but I have an Airfryer myself. You can do most things in an Airfryer, not just chips. I cook frozen fish in it too (in with the chips) as well as other things like reduced fat sausages. Can you do that in the Actifry? I don't know.
Anyway, this is a fantastic price! Heat added.

I do rate the Lidl air fryer, its the same capacity and spec as the Phillips product listed here and I prefer the shape of the Lidl basket. There are things I don't like about the Lidl product though, The text rubs off very quickly, and the timers hard to set accurately , but it's fine for me as I use an external timer anyway. I also find it easier to clean the Lidl product but both units are easy to clean.
This and the Lidl products are considered low capacity, they are fine for a couple mostly, if you want to cook for a large family then you might need a larger capacity or more units. I can do 750gm's of frozen wedges in the Lidl fryer though. The best Chips by far are the Aldi premium chunky chips though, just a dash of your chosen oil and 18 minutes at full heat, shake on the 6'th and 12th minute.. crispy fluffy perfection.
Of course you never know when the Lidl product is going to be stocked, It has a few times so far and was priced £49. They sold out very quickly though, I got mine the day before it was due to be sold. You will have to keep an eye on their catalogs.

Some of the praise on here is well over the top but I would say it's worth the money I paid. I'm not sure at this price though.
Chips are nowhere near as good as proper fried one's but if you do them right they are far better than oven chips. I advise to slice the chips pretty thin and soak them well to remove the starch.

Where exactly have i displayed anger? don't state opinions like they're facts, your opinion is irrelevent unless you can currently link us to an actifry at the same price as this, and no ones fault you are incapable at operating an airfryer and being unable to produce decent chips from it, pretty hard to get them wrong, you must suck at real cooking thats all i can say. chips are chips, if you prepare then right, you should be able to cook them with any appliance, i could produce decent chips with a grill or even a wok if i wanted, and i'm not exactly jamie oliver
When i make chips in this i do exactly as i do when i fry them, and thats to par boil them first then let them steam dry, then coat in oil then into the airfryer at 170, any higher and you end up with blotchy chips, and this process is still faster than the actifry
These devices don't produce magic, they are basically ovens and most of it is down to the individual, a bit like not being able to cook and then buying a top of the range oven and complaining that your food still sucks
anyway, we both had our opinions, no need to keep on about the same thing

Scroll down the page, the Duronic, similar product £59.99. As it's from Amazon should be no problem if you get problems, if you see what I mean.. Lots of other similar products on sale the Tower from Dumelm mentioned earlier on thread is a good buy, not sure of the size because no seller seams to have a standard size chart but at least you can see it if you go to Dunelm if you have one close by.
soldierboy001

Because it's cheaper and quicker and results are better. Some say this or Actifry, I say this as have had both and this does not mash the chips up and also other things like pies and cakes can be made in this, if poor you can't be bothered to shake mid way through then go to the chippy.

I find it useful for more than just chips. The philips one isn't even useful for that.
All you have to do is look for some recipes, to know it does much more than chips, they even have some on their website.
Always on offer... All those links you just gave me are the wrong prices for the deals. And one is a tesco wild goose chase. They're about £100 or so rrp anyhow.
It would be on offer too seeing as it's a best seller and has been around for a while now. Just like mostly everything else.
What's the Philips like compared to the Tower one at £47? Does anyone know.

Absolute bargain, as a student whos used this all his home life and is now moving out I bought this instantly, cooks chips, frozen foods, pastries, chicken, meat, its amazing, cooks it in like half the time, tastes nicer and has less oil! Every home should have one of these!

Proportions? lol............. and i think you summed the actifry up, its just for chips, and it even breaks them up, you can't cook much else in it, so a silly comparison to this?
Besides, the actifry is also on offer all the time, it's on offer right now, its ALWAYS on offer!:smile:
a quick search shows its on this site at least once per month, but gets poor heat though, wonder why? (because everyone else thinks it's 'crap' - and poor value for money)
Sorry but these are total crap that's why they get reduced all the time. The actifry is far better because it actually moves the food around to cook evenly, we had the Philips one and the home made chips weren't good to say the least. Also, the actifry can cook much bigger proportions.
I'm not sure why anyone thinks the Philips one would be superior in any way, unless you're thinking about saving a bit of space.

An airfryer is a brilliant piece of kit, especially if there are just 2 of you.
You can make chips out of 'real' potatoes just by adding a few sprays of oil OR as we do by placing a few ml of Flora cuisine in a bag & shaking up to coat. You can add fish on top - fish always tastes FAR better than cooking any other way - you can taste the fish.
Chicken breasts come out really succulent as does any small joint of meat cooked in it.
TBH we rarely use the oven now as things taste so much better, also take about 2/3rds of the time in the air fryer.
Cleaning is a doddle, usually just wiping the bottom of the container out, unless you cook something really fatty.
The timer went on ours after 2 years but we replaced it immediately as we really didn't want to be without one. You can also make cakes, pastries. It's ideal for heating up Pakoras, spring rolls, bhajis. instead of heating up a huge oven for little amounts.
Just remember to turn it down about 20C and cut the cooking time by about 2/3rds. It certainly saves on the electric bills.

Actifry is slower and is more restrictive on what you can cook with it

I have the cheaper Lidl air fryer, but its the same sort of thing and that's fanastic!, I love mine and use it everyday. Gone are the days when I would have an hours scrubbing of a deep fat fryer every week and buying those 5 liter oils all the time, and its super quick too. I love Aldi's premium chunky chips cooked at 200c for 18 min, I give them a shake to toss them around the pan about twice. The thin fries about 10-12 min to get the nice and crisp. There's lots of cool air fryer ideas on youtube too, I cook perfect bacon and small plum tomatoes in 9 minutes and no fat spitting all over the cooker.

Voted hot and I'm tempted (especially after a few Stellas) but for most people would it not end up as an expensive chip fryer? Once you've peeled the potatoes and cooked them a few times, the novelty would wear off, and then back to frozen chips, which you may as well cook in the oven you already have? Not had home cooked fried chips (despite being the best) for years mainly as they were deemed unhealthy and also deep fat fryers are dangerous. Bought a Crock Pot slow cooker back in Feb, which is good, but I've only used it about 4 times, despite cooking 5/7 days.
Edit: Decided to buy one and give it a whirl.

If I have one grumble its cleaning it, a bit awkward but not a big issue

I bought one of these in the Black Friday sale (Tesco £69 I think). I never imagined it would be so good. It's really brilliant. I'm not a terrible junk food eater, but I do like a handful of chips occasionally. I use the McCain ones in the yellow pack. The really chunky McCain ones are good as well.
You can also make lots of random things in it - a toastie, warm a gregg's pastie, part baked bread (I make costco ciabatta in it), garlic bread (slices or ciabatta ones), potato croquettes come out good too. Really good baked potatoes too. I microwave them for 3 or 4 mins, then put them in the airfryer for 25-30 mins. Nice and crispy. I'm veggie, so I'm sure you can think of many more things to make in it!!

bought this to replace a Tefal Actifry. After a few months of use I can say with certainty that this is a far better piece of kit.

Just how lazy are you?! You only need to shake it slightly every five minutes!
Btw if you only use setting one it can be placed upon the head for even hair drying just Remeber to shake halfway through drying to get even crispyness of the strands.

Happy days! Thx op
At this price though the air fryer is a great buy!
Anyway, this is a fantastic price! Heat added.
bought this to replace a Tefal Actifry. After a few months of use I can say with certainty that this is a far better piece of kit.
Unlike the Tefal Actifry, there's no rotating paddle to smash your chips up - all is required is a shake part way through cooking and you're good to go.
