Off like a rocket? I didn't mean to come across that way. It just boggles my mind when people question things and do research but don't question what they research. The theory here essentially being big corporations are involved in a giant global conspiracy to convince doctors, scientists and governments that a cheap sweetener isn't poisonous. You'd think that these companies would be paying to hide the research or just simply not even putting their names down on the conflicts of interest or the funding disclosure. You then apply that same logic to me i.e a shill gambit.
Many independent studies have found aspartame to be safe. To say otherwise is just confirmation bias and cherry picking data. This article covers Walton's study and explains some of it's limitations and others such as the study by the very controversial Ramazzini foundation. Aspartame has been discussed many times by highly regarded experts such as on Science-Based medicine too.
Mercola is a terrible source of information that is just trying to get you to buy supplements and other expensive wastes of money. I know I won't even make you think about questioning the alleged dangers of aspartame but hopefully you will at question sites like Mercola and not waste money on "detoxes", "grounding mats" etc.

I think closed minded is someone who goes off like a rocket when their ideas are slightly challenged (i.e. you). You took it so badly I can only assume you work for one of those companies
Survey of Aspartame Studies: Correlation of Outcome & Funding Sources http://dorway.com/aspartame-the-bad-news-repost/peer-reviewed-aspartame-studies/ http://www.lightenyourtoxicload.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Dr-Walton-survey-of-aspartame-studies.pdf
Studies of aspartame in the peer reviewed medical literature were surveyed for funding source and study outcome. Of the 166 studies felt to have relevance for questions of human safety, 74 had Nutrasweet® industry related funding and 92 were independently funded. One hundred percent of the industry funded research attested to aspartame's safety, whereas 92% of the independently funded research identified a problem. A bibliography supplied by the Nutrasweet® Company included many studies of questionable validity and relevance, with multiple instances of the same study being cited up to 6 times. Questions are raised both about aspartame's safety and the broader issue of the appropriateness of industry sponsorship of medical research.
The paper doesn't detail what those problems are and whether they are mild or severe, but some of the papers that reported problems have titles that suggest serious side adverse reactions:
Olney, Brain Damage in Infant Mice Following Oral Intake of Glutamate, Aspartate or Cysteine., 1970
Wurtman RJ, Neurological Changes Following High Dose Aspartame with Dietary Carbohydrates. N Engl J Med, 1983
Novick, Aspartame Induced Granulomatous Panniculitis. Ann Int Med, 1985
Johns DR, Migrane Provoked by Aspartame. New Eng J Medicine, 1986
Walton, The Possible Role of Aspartame in Seizure Induction. Proceedings of the first International Conference on Phenylalanine and the Brain. Wurtman RJ, Walker E (eds.), Center for Brain Sciences and Metabolism Charitable Trust, Cambridge, 1987

All aspartame research everywhere is financed by Coca Cola et al?! Evidence? And any research that proves it's poisonous was free of any conflicts of interest and obviously top quality but the EFSA and WHO decided to ignore it because.....? Or did Big Soda get to them too?
What a convenient and closed minded line of thought.
What evidence/research have you looked at that showed it was poisonous?

The research studies that show Aspartame are safe are bought and paid for by companies like Coca Cola.
That said, I drink it every day and it's done me no harm

Aspartame is absolutely fine, some people just love a conspiracy theory.
Does anyone else other than me find the taste of pepsi max repulsive? its worse than the cheap bottles of panda coke we had as kids.(what the hell was that all about too)
Oh and aspartame has been studied to death, its absolutely harmless. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not playing with a full deck. They are the same kind of people who believe the moon landings were fake and global warming doesn't exist!

There are references to large studies and research on the site. Putting that aside, what "research" did you look at proving it was poisonous? Why have multiple independent organisations and experts come to the consensus that it's safe? Why doesn't the EFSA, FSA, WHO, NHS etc tell us it's poisonous and to either avoid it or remove it from sale?
The recent EFSA review concluded aspartame was safe, again, and looked at over 2000 studies. I'm pretty sure that is valid, backed up research.

Yep - aspartame-information.co.uk. Looks like a legitimate scientific site, with valid, backed up research. I love the random picture of scientists holding test tubes.

Has aspartame in (It's not poisonous), the hippies on this site don't like it.
Not in my local unfortunately ,just the 8 packs priced at £2.00
They did have Schweppes Lemonade cans 12X150ml reduced to £1.00, near the entrance doors, while I was in there, but then they announced it on the tannoy, and a big pile disappeared in minutes, one woman must have had twelve packs in her trolley, no idea why as it's still costs her £12 that she probably wasn't planning to spend anyway.

It's kind of the whole point of this site. We get people on here all the time stating they have found a great deal just to get heat, anyone can come on here, saying they got a good deal. I'm not saying that this deal isn't real, all I am asking is for some proof so that any one else interested in this deal isn't wasting their time by looking for it.
Are you saying that in your 70 deals that you have posted, you have NEVER proved the price of them (receipt, in-store price tag or website link)?

Wonder if Asda is trying to shift certain drinks? There's been one or two posts recently with unbelievably cheap prices.
