OK let's get the usual comments out: Vestel, Panachronic, turkish delight, rubbish, good, ok, made baby vomit, mine's ok, brother got one and hates it, caused world war 3.
I think that covers the usual replies about this range of Panasonic's

I think you have to forget that it says Panasonic on it and decide whether the price is cheap for a generic supermarket telly (most of which are Vestel rebadged). In this case, with 12 months warranty, it certainly is.

Yes I think that's the sensible way to approach this..... it is very cheap for any name of TV to be fair.

Anyone know if Vestel put a little more effort into the Panasonic sets than the usual supermarket brands?
Still a good price.

You would kind of hope that a company with the reputation of Panasonic would want to ensure that even their cheaper models were decent quality, but I can't see them using different components from the usual Vestel brands like Celsus or Medion. Panasonic have a factory in eastern Europe where you would think they would assemble their own cheap tv's if they wanted to use mostly genuine Panasonic components.

The panels are better quality than the generic ones (Vestel build their own panels from kits provided by Samsung), and the capacitors are usually of better quality.
The design flaws in the power supplies are still there though unfortunately. The good thing about Vestels in general is that the problems are well understood and usually cheap to fix.

Just to say, I bought one of these having noticed this deal and it arrived today.
I guess I took the view just how bad could it be for £135 and was hoping for a pleasant surprise. Cheap and nasty doesn't even cover it, it's worse that that ! And don't get me started on the sound. It sounds like an old transistor radio.
I've been a regular buyer of Panasonic stuff over the years, but if this is the standard of what their standards have fallen to, I certainly won't be back.
