Much higher quality audio streamed direct from the cloud via WiFi so that your phone doesn't need to be in distance of the speaker. It also means you don't get any phone noises coming through your HiFi. You can also continue to use your phone to do other stuff that includes audio and video and it won't effect the playback. Finally it also uses loads less battery. Does that help as these are just off the top of my head! ☺

but it's Bluetooth anyway. why would you need to add a Chromecast?

I opted for the Samsung j630 from argos eBay at £60 (£65 now), the courier lost it so argos sent me another along with a full refund, did look at this but I can't see a reason why it would be any better or worse for £50

Good deal for the sound but this one is extremely 'plasticky' and has a bit of a cheap feel and touch.

I purchased this off them in february this year , for £79.99 . I think it's a good deal for £49.99 . Sound is not fantastic , but ok . I have plugged a chromecast audio in it . Can also play music from a usb stick. The hifi has 2 usb ports and if you download the "MAX Juke Box app" for your smartphone , you can play youtube audio through it too . Hope this helps

Higher audio quality, easier to use.

It would only be higher audio quality if it has an optical input otherwise you'd be stuck using the Chromecast's rubbish DAC which negates any bitrate gains vs Bluetooth.
Using analog outputs, if you play the same song via CCA and also then compare streaming via Xbox 360.... the xbox sounds far better, and that's after tweaking the CCA to the Hifi setting :/

I heard the DAC isn't too bad in the Chromecast audio. It has to be better than Bluetooth.
cos you live your own house or flat rather than in a HMO or with your mum?

Mine arrived yesterday and it's pretty much what you'd expect - cheap and relatively cheerful. I got one of these as something cheap for the garage with USB and Bluetooth, it does the job well enough but I may have to return it....
Sound is a bit muddy and the tweeters on mine get distorted at higher frequencies (even at low-ish volumes). At high volumes the bass drops off and the speakers struggle. For those of you wanted to use a Chromecast with this for better audio quality than Bluetooth - don't bother, the unit itself won't be able to produce a meaningful enough difference. The unit and speakers are LIGHT - lightness and quality audio are not things that generally go together. About 18yrs ago I had a Panasonic SC-AK48 which was a claimed 400w RMS - it was much heavier than this, consumed a lot more power and had much better sound.
If you want really good sound quality, you WON'T find it in an all-in-one big brand (Sony, Samsung, LG, Panasonic, etc) hifi these days. If something consumes less power than it's rated for and weighs sod all, it's generally junk. Go to Richer Sounds, listen to some entry-level/mid-range stuff and pay a decent amount for decent quality. Hell, my speakers in the kitchen each cost more than this unit and you can really tell.
Tip: if you do get one, turn the Bluetooth ON in the setup menu and then you can turn the unit on with your phone from standby.

Yes true it's not like the sc-ak48 or the sc-ak25 I had them aswell about 20 years ago when I was about 18... Damm I must be old lol .
They were good systems with 5cd changers and did give out excellent sound quality.
Ok I was wondering about the bit around the volume control is it suppose to light up or something cos my one Dnt

I tested this system in Currys paired it with my iPhone and turned it up sounded deep bass and clear sound and was loud aswell as it was a big store and I tested it from close and far aswell it sounded good and for £50 it sounds very good , just set up the equalisers manually bass up and treble up and turn the D.Bass on from the D.BASS button and select surround sound, after that test it cos it makes a big difference :sunglasses:

And dont put speakers on the floor for better sound it also makes a difference, it a good system for £50 was thinking of getting a sound bar but gona hook this to my telly , Bluetooth connect to my iPhone and USB that's it all in one so well worth it, plus a Dj jukebox cross fader and a app availble aswell

Has anybody had a problem with these? Mine makes a loud mechanical scraping noise when the disc drive runs.
As above the sound quality isn't fantastic, but the features are good. I thought I might try connecting a half decent pair of speakers to it.
