I have this and can recommend. I was worried about the rainbow effect, but it's perfectly fine for both myself and my girlfriend. It's a tad noisy and not many people have black ceilings, so it stands-out like a sore thumb when ceiling-mounted, but they're minor issues.

i have one and love it, i had issues with mine when i bought it, they have issues when plugged into dual output amps that have Samsung TV's on the one output the signal is lost for a few seconds at around 53 minutes and i sent it back loads of times and it was replaced 3x all i did was phone Optoma UK and they had it collected everytime and kept me up to date with the progress their UK support is fantastic.

Great price, I have this - the picture quality and 3d is excellent, like previous comments, the fan is noisy and can be distracting at times, but thats the only negative - great bit of kit

Are there any negatives buying it from Amazon.de rather than uk? I've been waiting for a good price drop on this for ages. I assume euro plug. Or will it get shipped from uk?

I've had this for a few months. The first one had brightness uniform problems, the second still had the issue but not as bad. It's also impossible to focus the entire picture perfectly, when the centre is focused it isn't focused in the bottom corners, and you will have to re focus it every week. The fan/colour wheel is loud too. Good points is it can handle all frame rates perfectly. If you can get it in focus the image is pretty crisp and it's cheap :smile:

Just wanted to add the Optoma service is excellent. Something to consider as if something goes wrong they'll fix it quickly and with little hassle. I've heard tale of them fixing even outside of warranty.

To get this price you have to untick the Amazon euro exchange rate box, and pay in euros. Paying on my Mastercard (Halifax clarity for zero foreign fee) comes at 460.25 euros otherwise it comes out at £363 paying in pounds sterling.

I doubt that's the projector. I'm guessing you're projecting it onto an uneven surface, probably a wall which will cause blurriness.

Generally if you end up with the same problem with a replacement it is one of two things. An inherent problem with the item or something to do with your setup. There are very few reports of uneven focus on this projector. So it's probably, as you're suggesting a problem with what its being projected onto. Most house walls aren't completely flat or at a perfect angle. There is nearly always some slight warp or incline and this can cause focus issues.

Usually people set-up a projector for the first time and are pretty well impressed with the large picture on just a magnolia wall and leave it at that. Personally I have found going from a wall to a dedicated screen/correctly pointed flat wall gives an even bigger jump in experience. Also spend some time tinkering with the settings. The HD141x can give some very impressive results if set-up correctly.

Is there a degree of adjustability on the picture size? Or do you have to move the projector nearer or further from the wall to decrease/increase?

good price, paid £400 about 1 and half years ago and the picture is so good, even with curtains open! got about 120" out if it on largest wall in the house.

I've just got the hd26, which is almost identical but white, apparently a bit quieter (fan noise) too, but reviews vary.

It was an upgrade from a 720p epson tw680. Compared to that the blacks are much better (in a light controlled room), & the picture way, way brighter. The optical zoom is much smaller & no lens shift either vertically or horizontally so you have to be much more careful where you mount it what screen to buy.

I knew my current screen was a bit too small when I purchased this so it's a good excuse for an upgrade to a bigger screen! It does have vertical keystone & digital zoom, but both of these will mean you're not using pixel to pixel mapping & throw light around the edges so I would recommend avoiding them.

I'd definitely recommend this at this price based off my experience with the hd26, unless you could get a refurbished hd26 for a good price like I did.

It's a standard 3 pin kettle lead from memory. Just make sure it's got the same rated fuse.

Had one of these but suffered badly from rainbow effect and slightly noisy fan so went with an LCD Epson TW5210 for £380 at the time, no rainbow effect, perfect.

I'm looking for not to expensive but hd projector home theatre use this is a good price but don't know much..

The distance from projector to screen would be 3.5m and screen size measurement width 2.1m x height 1.3m approx would this projector be good ? Or if anyone with expertise recommend the right kind to go for ??

You won't currently get much better for this price. Have a look (play) on the following website for distance/size calculations.

Change the 'throw' slider to the distance you will have the projector from the screen/wall and it will give you the projected image size.

Having tried projector central with bar going in red with throw distance 3.5-3.6 does this mean not suitable "recommended image brightness with ambient light" as the screen size I'm looking to display height 1.3 x width 2.1

Here try Optomos own calculator. Bear in mind this is a standard throw projector. So really is best suited placed at the back of the room and not such a short distance from the screen/wall. It will work, but obviously image size suffers. At 3.1m from the wall/screen, you should get around the screen size you mentioned, but there are other variables to take into account.

That calculator is talking about the brightness of the image compared to the average amount of light in a room with the curtains open.

Think of a flashlight, if you use one at night then whatever it shines on appears bright because the light of the flashlight is being reflected by the object making it appear maybe 1000% brighter than it was before. If you use one in the daytime then the objects it's shining on do not appear bright because they're already reflecting a lot of light from the sun so maybe they get 10% brighter but it's not very noticeable.

Same thing with projectors, they're shining light at a wall or a screen, that's then being reflected. In the daytime in a room with the curtains open light from the sun ("ambient light") is hitting the wall and reflecting making the wall appear bright, so a projector has a hard time making the wall appear any brighter than it already is. This also affects black levels, the darkest black will be as bright as the reflection of the sunlight on the wall (i.e. very bright, the picture will be 'washed out')

To put it simply at the orange end of the scale there's not enough light from the projector to make a bright picture even with a very dark room. In the green section there's enough light, the dark parts of the image will appear dark and the light bits will appear light, ideal conditions. In the red section there's a bit too much light from the projector, it's not a problem really but it means the blacks won't be that dark. It could be useful though, in my case I have those terrible metal blinds that always seem to jam and don't block much light so there's a lot of sunlight in my living room in the daytime but my projector (same model actually) is in the red zone so the picture is still pretty good in the daytime because of the brightness being a little too high.

Cant fault these projectors.

Did yours come with a uk plug? Any indication it was shipped from Amazon uk?

Mine was also due Thursday but showed up today. No it didn't come with a UK plug but its just a standard kettle adapter and I have a few spare. I've never ordered from the .de site before but I would say it didn't come from Amazon UK as the box is sealed with Amazon.de branding. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions.

An old post but found this as I was having the same problem. I brought the Optoma GT1080E and the kettle lead is loose. Keeps turning off with the slightest jerk. What did you do eventually?
