The OnePlus X (and the OP 2) got cheaper. The OnePlus X is at £189 now (was: £199). The Limited Edition is at £209 (was: £269).
The OP 2 is only price matching Amazon, so I would prefer buying there. And the price for the OP 1 was reduced as well (to £199, but it's out of stock right now).
Nearly £200 for a reduced price phone that still does not have such modern day features as NFC, Wireless Charging and 802.11ac and people are voting this hot?

This will be due to the recent OP3 spec leak - which appears to be the phone we all wanted before these two were released. Neither of these rustles my jimmies even at the reduced price, I'll stick with the OPO for now (I'm sure you're all lamenting that fact :stuck_out_tongue: ).

I don't understand why they make a powerful phone with 3 gig ram but only 16 gig storage. Even with an sd card, not all apps will migrate.
Yeah, I know but phones have got to critical mass, my needs are pretty primitive as I don't play hard end games I certainly won't pay more than 100 for a phone now. Once you've had cyanogen you won't go back. Maybe I can find someone to put mod on for me. After buying the oneplus one it was way overpowered for what I need. I've rationalised what I want and pay for a phone so have others I believe. I picked up a battered m4 aqua for 21 on ebayand it's perfect as a walking phone so might even go that route now

I have a OnePlus One with a software glitch that means - after connected to WiFi for several hours - Data (2G/3G/4G etc) will NOT re-connect after leaving WiFi.
The only fix is to turn the phone off and on.
This problem occured 7 months after purchase (12 month warranty). They insisted I booked a "Remote Session" with an engineer. Unfortunately there were no slots. I checked daily and there were no slots. I emailed back and said for them to book me a slot and I'll take whatever time they give me. Oh no, they can't do that! I have to book it myself - except there are no slots!! They refused to accept the phone to be fixed without going through this Remote Session. So a year later, I still have this problem :disappointed: They closed my support ticket as I didn't book a remote session  Terrible company.
Would have paid on Credit Card and got my money back that way, but they insisted at the time to pay via PayPal.
Would have taken them to Civil Court but no UK address to issue summons.
Couldn't take the issue up with PayPal as >6 months since purchase.
Personally I'll never buy one of their phones again. Only because I spent >£200 do I still have this phone.

Triple the price if you look at the RRP of both phones, but if you compare monthly costs on contract deal vs the OPO with a sim only contact then there isn't much in it. Worth it if your planning on switching phones every 12 months but if your holding on to it for a couple of year, might as well go for a traditional contract.
For example over 24 months;
I paid £269 for my 64GB OPO, so £11pm. Add on a sim only contract with a decent data allowance, £12-15pm. So your looking at about £20-25pm.
You can usually pick up most Flagship phones, less than 6 months after release for about £25pm on a comparable contract, without the initial outlay. LG's always quickest to drop but Samsung deals come up too. I got my S6 last summer for £25pm with 5GB data.
I don't disagree with you.. I just think the value gap isn't as huge as people make out.

I cased up to start but found the phone too big in a case. Since removing the sandstone black cover quickly got scuffed and faded and just looked a mess. I would have been fine with that if I could buy a replacement or if OP released the style swap back covers as originally promised. Customer service response was pretty poor, week to respond, broken English, no offer of help, they just stated that they were working on releasing replacement covers (yeah right).

No I don't think I am being unfair at all, I did not list those examples as direct comparisons of specification, I answered someone else asking "what do you expect for under £200". I could have gone on with some ultra cheap examples within the Windows world of phones. I never even said this was a rubbish phone either. I clearly mentioned in todays market it does not have modern features at a price point you expect it to, and then went on to say that with the introduction of android pay in the UK market the lack of NFC is a big deal. When you consider the cheap cost of replacement backs of many a phone that support NFC being minimal the only reasoning not to add NFC in China is the move Xiaomi made this generation by assessing the Chinese market and finding that around 1% of users were utilising NFC, article [here]....cue the copying by other manufacturers in that segment with minor cost cutting.
In addition, I mention grey import because that is exactly what this phone is.
The OP2 isnt price matching Amazon its been £249 on the OnePlus site for months.

26 May 162#99
Hey, I totally respect that you have your own opinion, so trying to force you otherwise is not what I 'm trying to do, but don't you think you're being unfair to this phone?
1. No Full HD on the J3 or Z3.
2. No OLED on the Z3.
3. The J3 has a 8MP/5MPcamera . The OPX has 13MP/8MP. The Z3 wins here though.
4. The J3 has no 802.11ac either.
5. This has a better design (subjective).
6. OPX is slimmer than the J3 or Z3.
7. The OPX has 3GB ram, the J3 has 1.5GB the Z3 2GB.
I could go on. It's not like they took the Z3 removed ac and NFC and called it £200. It's actually £189 delivered anyway. Plus you keep mentioning 'grey import'. This isn't. If you need NFC daily then don't consider this obviously but they they figured people would gladly accept no NFC or 802.11ac for a lower price and focus on things that they feel are more appreciated.
Basically look at it this way. I wouldn't say the Z3 Compact is a rubbish phone because it has a sub 5 inch screen, no OLED, no FHD. I would recognise it focused on other stuff. No FHD or OLED is a deal breaker for some people as I guess NFC or wireless charging is important for you. You sound happy about the Z3 without ever mentioning it's LCD or 720p the same way I would be happy about the OPX without considering no NFC or wireless charging.

Bought a OnePlus2 recently, arrived with the screen broken, the absolute hassle I had off OnePlus to try and get a replacement. Their support is a joke, don't seem to be able to read or respond in English, just terrible hassle. Eventually I got PayPal to refund my money. I'd be very wary of giving money to this company.

Me too.
The One Plus One is very good - Battery etc...Micro USB
The One Plus Two added the finger print sensor and better camera but lost NFC (which I never used) the performance was good but the CPU from QUALCOMM was not the best. (Same as used on the Samsung S6 - same issues - lag / power) USB C
One Plus X is a great entry to the Android world. Slim, fast great mid range phone with a premium feel. Micro USB
I used to like Cyanogen and still do not sure about the way they behaved with OnePlus after the agreement with an Indian supplier. I think OnePlus acted responsibility and the OxygenOS made sense for them. Shame on Cyanogen corporate.
This is a great price for a great phone. Heat ++
Agreed the Ceramic option is the way forward
Also love the Dual Sim on the One Plus Two I have a Three PAYG SIM 321 and a Freedompop SIM Free plan all fine.
The Mi 5 is another option in the space but cost more at the lower end the Blu Phones, Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 and UMI phones are great value.
As has been mentioned this is a great mid range option.

I have all of the OnePlus phones (One, Two and X ) and can honestly say One is still the best among the three, only limited by the dual sim functionality. Yes I have added a 128GB uSD card to X but I am still having to constantly move apps, clear cache to stop it complaining about out of memory. And the apps I have moved to uSD do not update automatically, I have to move them back to phone memory, update and then move it back.
I really don't recommend them even at this price. Wait a little longer.

26 May 16#94
No I flashed mine without rooting, like you I was worried about not being able to use banking apps. You can flash the ROM in TWRP.
Plenty of phones these days under £200 have NFC and wireless charging, even the ZTE produced Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 that has been £100-130 does, the new budget Samsung J3 at £150 does, Huawei P8 Lite to name even phones under £150 that do. Not to mention recent reductions to sub £150 on two year old phones such as the LG G3 and Sony Z3 compact.
So yes, for less than £200 I would be expecting NFC in a modern smartphone, and for just over £200 the Oneplus Three will have it, if you wish to take the risk on a grey import.
pontprennau
26 May 16#92
You have to root it to do that right ? so no banking apps? I assume the OS that comes with it can't utilise the SD card in the same way eh?

I'm typing from my OPX right now. Pretty happy with it. Good screen, decent battery life (unless one leaves Bluetooth on for connection to a smart band etc.), and doesn't seem to slow down at all thanks to 3GB RAM and a decent processor.
The software is great on times and annoying on other times. The gestures are great! But if somebody phones, for example, instead of the call notification taking over the screen so it can be easily answered, it sometimes needs to be pulled down from the notification bar before tapping answer (which is equal size to decline and right next to it!). I've missed a lot of quite important calls due to this. The vibration motor is rubbish too and is difficult to notice if walking. Plus actually being on the phone is annoying as the handset constantly unlocks the screen by itself with any fraction of movement, causing notifications and apps to be pressed and the battery life to be reduced by the screen. That really bugs me! And getting to June still without Android Marshmallow is a joke!
I'm still happy with it at the £199 I paid. But I'd be lying if I said that I don't miss NFC, 802.11ac WiFi, and the bug-free OS that my previous Nexus offered.

26 May 16#90
Well it does indeed.. What do u expect from phones less than 200gbp. I don't use nfc so I wouldn't care + wireless charging comes with loads of limitations. I would still prefer cable charging. Any ways that's my view

26 May 16#89
Yes people have different needs and wants, however with most modern day phones offering these features that have been cost cut in many a chinese phone many including myself are wondering why bother when you can get new phones with better specs for either the same price or refurbs of 2 year old phones with similar specs such as the Galaxy S5 with warranties instead of the risk of a grey import.
With the announcement that the [Oneplus 3] is going to have these features, albeit a gamble of a grey import the 4GB version is set to be around £210, this makes this phone look even more overpriced despite it's recent reduction in its two year old equivalent specs (Snapdragon 801)
Are you missing the announcement that NFC is now supported in the UK for android pay? I think you are missing the purpose totally of wireless charging, a convenient place to rest your phone whilst you work and pick up without any risk/restriction of cord damage as and when you get a text/phone call etc.
I feel I have enough justification in not thinking this deal is hot.

People have different needs and wants. For example I have no gadget that l would use the phone's NFC with and I am not looking to buy any. I don't like 'wireless' charging since you still have to plug something into a wall and then keep your phone on one spot! You can't even move it at the same range of a USB cable. Like holding your phone in bed while it's charging off a laptop/wall adapter/power bank. I have one 802.11ac device (laptop) and it's no better than my other non ac WiFi devices. People who need/want these features, fine. Others who are looking for OLED, 3GB ram , like this particular design, fine as well. People voted this deal hot because the phone is brilliant.

Have my OPO since the day of it's release and I'm really not sure what you doing with your phone coz mine still looks brand new, I have the sandstone back cover, cant remember what I paid for it on release when the invite system was still in place but it's by far the most value I've ever gotten from a phone, will probably eventually upgrade to the OP3 eventually as tech has moved a long way since OPO first came out.

Don't get why you wouldn't just get a refurbed S5 instead for less money:
I had the OPO and I was really disappointed with the quality of the sandstone black back cover. No way was it designed to last 24 months and looked a mess after 6 months. OP customers service is a joke, and no way of purchasing a replacement OEM back cover. OP is a false economy in my experience, buy a more expensive phone, made form robust materials, with a decent 2 year warranty (i.e. a Samsung)

i wouldn't hesitate to recommend. But be aware, it's beautiful, but made of glass, you drop it, you'll break it. The 3gb of RAM is great, multitasking is brilliant.

5ghz is very useful on streets that are highly saturated with 2.4 routers. All on different bands but they often overlap and cause interference.
5.8 has far more bands/ frequencies available so much less likely to have interference and due to short range than 2.4 it's less likely too

So frustrated with the world of mobile phones !! .... as you can't just wander down to a local shop and see working versions of the vast majority of models . Particularly for us older ones .. very important to try out typing messages .. font size.. screen appearrance .. tsaking photos & attaching to emails , how address book works .. and all the other basic functionality things .
Wouldn't dream of laying out so much money to buy something that i had no idea if i liked it.
( Tried & failed miserably with a samsung ace last year .. couldn't read a thing properly on screen ... but managed to get demo on a lumia 735 in cpw that has superb font/visibilty for reading messages , web pages etc . )

I find the build quality superb and I really like how thin the phone is  Hasn't failed me at all. Only disappointing things I find is the software support, June is almost here and still no Marshmallow. If you really need Marshmallow though you might as well be better off unlocking bootloader and installing a custom rom which I will do later on
For those who do buy this, make sure you buy a case for the back. It's a really slippery phone and you do not want to risk dropping it.

speed isn't the reason for me. i got a dual band router so i could use compatible devices on the second band as my household has... a ridiculous amount of devices all wanting access to the wifi and often if there's too many, something you need to use will simply fail to connect as the band is too busy.
so basically, if you have lots of devices, 5ghz is a godsend.
Horrorwood

There are 8 things connected to my network via 2.4ghz 802.11n, there are also 8x 2.4ghz networks nearby that I can see, nevermind other things such as cordless phones etc running on 2.4ghz and I am still managing 70mbit...
I do get 150mbit (my max speed) via 5hgz... but that is most likely due to 802.11ac and not the 5ghz band.
My point is I highly doubt most people will need or notice the difference on 5ghz. I certainly wouldn't call it a deal breaker.

It's a strange phone that falls between two stools IMO. It's not a premium phone but it's not cheap enough to be a budget phone either. Oxygen is interesting but still buggy. Camera is more budget that mid/high end. Glass back is just smash city central.
Overall, I'd take a used S5 over one of these or pay another £10-£20 for a G4, or even get an A9 (if you can live with the battery life).

The lack of NFC on a phone (and a lot of Chinese phones lack it) has become quite a thing now that NFC Google Pay has finally hit the UK, granted 5G/ac wi-fi is not essential but it is also very useful to have wireless charging...such features should be standard at this cost on a modern phone.

Build quality is very impressive, feels very premium

Apart from the Snapdragon 801 and the 3gb of ram the old Galaxy S4 is a hell of a lot cheaper. The S4 has a slower - but still capable - Snapdragon 600 and 1gb less system ram (2gb) but apart from the design the specs are almost identical. The good thing is the S4 supports 4G on all uk bands (i9505 version) and can be picked up for less than £100.

The ceramic is the one to get ... but still a bit too expensive for me.
Good price reduction nevertheless.

I don't understand why they make a powerful phone with 3 gig ram but only 16 gig storage. Even with an sd card, not all apps will migrate.

Cyanogenmod 13 runs like a dream on this. Flash it, get a large microSD card and you've got a really good phone at a great price. Although some may prefer the Moto Play X

Nearly £200 for a reduced price phone that still does not have such modern day features as NFC, Wireless Charging and 802.11ac and people are voting this hot?

Still using my OnePlus One, never been happier. I would wait until they release OnePlus Three which should have competitive price.

What's it competing with in this price range?
I looked at this before but I discounted it then, but I can't remember why.
I'm really bored of my Note 3 and Z3 Compact so keep looking but can't seem to find the right combination yet. I'm torn between buying something mid range now or waiting another 6 months and upping the budget to flagship then (I visit HK and they will be cheaper there).

Got to say now I have android 6.0 on oneplus one I am still pleased with it and not looking to change unless oneplus 3 is something really special but may let them sort out any initial problems first.

This will be due to the recent OP3 spec leak - which appears to be the phone we all wanted before these two were released. Neither of these rustles my jimmies even at the reduced price, I'll stick with the OPO for now (I'm sure you're all lamenting that fact :stuck_out_tongue: ).

The x looks a stunning phone and good special been eyeing it up for ages
Opening post
The OnePlus X (and the OP 2) got cheaper. The OnePlus X is at £189 now (was: £199). The Limited Edition is at £209 (was: £269).
The OP 2 is only price matching Amazon, so I would prefer buying there. And the price for the OP 1 was reduced as well (to £199, but it's out of stock right now).

good to know though.
I thought they were quite established but my friend who is a it engineer seems to think otherwise and keeps telling me stick to brands tmthe UK stock there's a reason shops stock them

For example over 24 months;
In addition, I mention grey import because that is exactly what this phone is.

I really don't recommend them even at this price. Wait a little longer.

You can only use 1 sim if using a micro SD card
So yes, for less than £200 I would be expecting NFC in a modern smartphone, and for just over £200 the Oneplus Three will have it, if you wish to take the risk on a grey import.
AND it's either dual sim OR one sim and an sd card right ?
Very tempting
Have a good day
With the announcement that the [Oneplus 3] is going to have these features, albeit a gamble of a grey import the 4GB version is set to be around £210, this makes this phone look even more overpriced despite it's recent reduction in its two year old equivalent specs (Snapdragon 801)
Heat added.
I am currently debating whether to get One Plus X or Galaxy S5..
Edit: Oh, cant really comment on customer services either because unlike any of my other phones I've not once had to contact them for anything in the time I've owned this phone.
> IP67 water/dust resistance
> Fingerprint sensor
> NFC
> Replaceable battery
Also if you flash cm13 does that void warranty?
The SIM slot allows two nano SIMs or one nano SIM and a microSD card.
i wouldn't hesitate to recommend. But be aware, it's beautiful, but made of glass, you drop it, you'll break it. The 3gb of RAM is great, multitasking is brilliant.
Also, unlike most of the grey china imports it has full 4g support on all networks.
5.8 has far more bands/ frequencies available so much less likely to have interference and due to short range than 2.4 it's less likely too
Wouldn't dream of laying out so much money to buy something that i had no idea if i liked it.
( Tried & failed miserably with a samsung ace last year .. couldn't read a thing properly on screen ... but managed to get demo on a lumia 735 in cpw that has superb font/visibilty for reading messages , web pages etc . )
Would much rather have google app benefits though
These phones are very cheap and powerful for the money but I wouldn't recommend them for the likes of yourself.
For those who do buy this, make sure you buy a case for the back. It's a really slippery phone and you do not want to risk dropping it.
so basically, if you have lots of devices, 5ghz is a godsend.
I do get 150mbit (my max speed) via 5hgz... but that is most likely due to 802.11ac and not the 5ghz band.
My point is I highly doubt most people will need or notice the difference on 5ghz. I certainly wouldn't call it a deal breaker.
I've also dropped mine loads and the screen is still perfect
I would suggest installing CM as Oxygen still has bugs.
To me NFC is a bit of a gimmick and Finger Print scan is also nothing i would prioritize.
Bottom line to me for the money i paid £164 i couldn't see anything with the build and spec for the price. At £189.99 maybe there is something.
Overall, I'd take a used S5 over one of these or pay another £10-£20 for a G4, or even get an A9 (if you can live with the battery life).
Spend a bit more and buy from a proper company with proper european support. Lack of NFC is a deal breaker for me also as I use Google Pay all the time.
Fast Hardware and the 16GB is more than fine by me.
Screen is very impressive being AMOLED
Build quality is very impressive, feels very premium
Sure lacks a few features like NFC / Fingerprint Scanner but neither of them do i expect to use and are no big loss. 16GB can be expanded with SD Card.
Also in relation to the WIFI 5Ghz :
So again no biggie.
Good price reduction nevertheless.
