I have tried loads of combinations and speeds. It's mostly the cpu cooler is the major thing even with a h100i it was better but I shouldn't need to do water cooling for a silent fan setup. You try it with the front cover on with dust filter and then compare it to free environment. The temperature difference is staggering.

I've had the older H440 for over a year now and I just wanted to add my 2p.
What people say about the airflow is right, and NZXT may have addressed this, but either way, I've not found it to be so much of a problem on the older case.. This case has space for plenty of fans and my 4.6GHz 4670k doesn't often go above 70 degrees coupled with a 970Ti. I've added 2 high pressure Corsair fans sat in the roof of the case.
I've water cooled my CPU, and the H80i isn't a quiet cooler, but it's not too bad on it's lowest settings and still more than does the job. You could stick a Noctua CPU cooler and or a few more case fans and you'd have a near enough silent PC looking the bomb.
Just take your time putting everything in, so it's not a major ball ache taking it out if you need to swap/add a drive.
+1 for USB CD drive, has to be done for the couple of times a year I need to burn a CD.
I paid a lot more than this was well. Hot.

I had this case since release and I really didnt get on well with it. It looks nice but the functionality is lacking.
The main issue I have is airflow. Even in a cool room my cpu fans have to ramp up. Thus creating more noise.
Kinda defeats the point of having a silence based case.
Other issue I had was how the HDD are mounted they have these annoying trays in the front of the case. You can take them out but then you are lacking in storage.
Other issue I had was there is a PSU shroud which is nice but its not fun to install or swap out parts or troubleshoot. Once you have mounted the PSU into the case good luck getting modular cables plugged in. I guess you could do all the wiring before you screw in the psu but then you have issues with cable length etc.
Top 360mm vent doesn't have any dust filters so its brought it a lot of dust through that way if you have intake fans on there.
I had the older h440 so I just had a 3 pin fan splitter. I ended up buying the NZXT Grid + and i have used it in my new case. software controlled fan setup.
If you want my recommendation I would look at the fractal design r5. I got a fractal design s but I planning on watercooling and that case is super sexy (with great airflow)

Did you just have them plugged into the fan hub on the case (running at 100%) by mistake?
My front 3 are at a static 35% (from what i remember) and the back is 40%-50% and isnt loud

Pity is an optical drive no-go area otherwise I'd jump at it. Good find though.

Golly gosh, I hadn't even thought of that - thanks a million. It must be fantastic to be so imaginative in problem-solving
Points is, why buy a beautiful case and then have cable and peripherals messing it all up?

You can get old cases for less than £5 from charity shops or recycling centers...I'd love to see how your cardboard machine is hold up a few years on?
