A single ticket London-Plymouth for 1st June without any railcard is £36.50, so no great saving.

I spoke to a friend at ATOC (a organisation that represents UK rail companies) who was involved in setting up this railcard.
The reason the rail companies are doing this card is to encourage two people who would normally drive to get the train. You don't have to be a couple, friends is fine. The card works across the UK unlike the Network Gold Card which only works in the South East. It also gives you the discount on advance fares which is a bonus.
They don't do it for people travelling alone as those people are more likely to get the train anyway.
PS: I have no involvement in atoc or rail companies.

Eh ? Texaco done a site swap with BP years ago, all Scots sites became BP, no money changed hands to get around Competition Commission. Nearest site is Northern Ireland not northern England - I'm up north lol

Tesco club card deal IS DEAD AND GONE. the dream has died. 4 times value then 3 times the value then 2 times value and now 1 point equals 1p. Bye tesco, gone to NECTAR.
it's a shame we can't have a normal rail card for a single person traveling. Instead our balls are trapped in a vice and held hostage by TOCS and the DFT

BR is still hostage, WW1/2 hostages got out quicker. Heard in the run up to elections on Thurs the Scottish Green Party wanted to nationalise (to bring fares down and carbon emissions) from Abellio Scotrail...good news, hopefully they can grab more than one seat this time, UK trains are a mess, 40p a mile up north between our main cities which have vast greenery between them, a few private bus companies with poor facilities, its miles cheaper (pardon the pun) to drive a polluting car than 40p a mile on a green train day return at £28!

A: One Railcard holder will, but there is no need for both of you to be present at time of purchase. However, please remember you both must make the journey together.

Pedantic much ? ^^ "Spending thousands in Tesco to get clubcard points is a false economy, for others it is not" ^^
Clubcard points marketing and thus sales boost Tesco pockets over customers, for the majority of customers....if it was losing money it would have been scrapped to pay the billions of debts off.

Yes as stated, I buy their petrol because of location/price, not for points. Not sure how that makes the points which are a by product of this 'false economy.'

I don't shop there. Nearest place to fill the car. Driving to the next petrol station to save 2p/litre would be false economy
