Picked this up in Asda (Bradford) this lunchtime. Last one on the shelf with no price attached. Asked the store assistant to scan the barcode for the price and came back with £29. Was in store last week for £89.........Not sure if national but best of luck if your looking for cheap storage.

Well worth full price. Got one from John Lewis a few weeks back and it was the newer version with a faster CPU and double the RAM.

Does it even have ram and a cpu?

Yes, it's a NAS not a dumb device.

Can't find any specs for this mentioning cpu, ram. I know it has an i/o controller and ethernet. I have this btw.

its likely they wont mention it as its going to be quite restricted to being a nas, its not a synology box which can be used as more than a nas.

The newest version is in that box and mentions Windows 10 on the front. The older version is in a square box with no mention of windows 10.

Cheers, as you say; this a very basic nas so cant see any advantage of a faster cpu or ram
Be warned, the wd sync software, the drive discovery software and the mobile app are awful. Wd are excellent for hardware but their software / firmware sucks.

Thanks for voting hot folks and glad to see a couple of others have managed to find one. Realise it's a bit of a gamble when you walk in but worth a gamble in my opinion.....

The transfer speed over a gigbit LAN? The faster CPU is crucial for that. Screen shot above.

25 May 16#27
Is that a question? I couldn't find any evidence showing a faster CPU improves transfer speeds

My old NAS had a max transfer rate of 14MB/s over a gigabit connection. All down to it running a 450mhz single core ARM CPU.

Yes. Faster CPU and double the RAM in the slimmer boxed one.
