Honest question ... Has anyone ever had a problem with unallocated for a family. We fly may be 3 or 4 times a year and always get to sit together without paying which ever airline we choose

Brilliant deal, my friend took advantage of the last one from Birmingham. You can take enough for 5kgs of hand luggage.

They let Ronald Reagan a film actor become president of America, so I can see it happening with Trump. Trump is still an idiot even though he's worth $4.5 billion, you could argue to amass that fortune he couldn't possibly be an idiot, well you're wrong, he definitely is a complete tool. He's amassed a following which has gone from cult to mainstream because he expresses extreme opinion. There can be no good to come from him becoming president, none at all.

I think they have to sit kids with a parent by law when flying FROM the USA. not sure about from UK, but not in their interest to have unattended kids. I never pay to sit together but always manage to.

Country of origin makes no difference. Rules are set according to which country the aircraft is registered in. In the case of TOM it will be UK registered and regulated by the CAA rules.
"Families, children and infants
The seating of children close by their parents or guardians should be the aim of airline seat allocation procedures for family groups and large parties of children.
Young children and infants who are accompanied by adults, should ideally be seated in the same seat row as the adult. Children and accompanying adults should not be separated by more than one aisle. Where this is not possible, children should be separated by no more than one seat row from accompanying adults. This is because the speed of an emergency evacuation may be affected by adults trying to reach their children.
Whenever a number of infants and children are travelling together the airline should make every effort to ensure that they can be readily supervised by the responsible accompanying adults"

Very much doubt that. If you were economy you won't get upgraded to 1st class. Only 1 level up, so business class. (jammy sod)

Yes of course you can, I have occasionally but its rarely necessary because most airlines try and seat families together anyway.

Family of 12 booked our holiday well in advance and on the way there we was sat apart, they had allocated 3 children together ages 3,4&7. Parents was 20+ rows away. So they had to rearrange seats for us so the children wasn't sat on their own, it did hold up the flight but I don't think we will fly again without reserving seats, it's less hassle.

Agreed, the media here is very biased against him here and cherry picks and twists the most controversial things he says. Most of things he says are very good having seen many of his rallies. A lot of his policy aligns with Bernie Sanders and he'll certainly be less corrupt than Clinton. America will be better to go to next year than this year after he's President, but still a cheap flight.

It's fair enough taking the chance, but it annoys me when "helpful" stewards on flights ask people to switch around seats to try and get families together. I know it sounds mean spirited, and this isn't meant as an insult or aimed at you personally because I obviously don't know anything about you, but it's not on making people feel guilty to switch just because people are taking the chance to save money by not booking. When we were travelling back from Tenerife the year before last, on Thomson, a stewardess asked if we minded swapping seats because they were trying to seat a family together. She was polite enough, and I was polite when saying no. Especially as we'd paid for the extra leg room seats we were in and it would've meant sitting separately. The elderly retired couple in front of us (also extra leg room seats) heard the conversation and they swapped. The stewardess hadn't asked them at first. Anyway, we got the whole snippy overly loud comments from the family taking the seats so we could hear, but I felt in the right (even if it did make us both feel bad being put on the spot like that). As I see it, if people want to sit together, book seats together. If you want to try and save money and end up separate then it's bad luck, it shouldn't be down to other people to move.

I will tell you one that you want to try! Be a stupid as airlines because they want to squeeze more money from you. Just book and I will guarantee that they will sort it out for you! My disabled daughter was at the back of the plane and me up front with my other daughter and wife midway? When my daughter started nipping another passenger at the back and I needed assistance to use the toilet they soon jiggled seating arrangement I can tell you! Absolutely ridiculous!!!if they ask you why you are taking the **** tell them they started it!!! JOKERS!!!
