Great mouse, especially if you're going to be using a PC all day long. Not so much a gaming mouse or anything like that, although i'm sure it would pretty decent for that regardless.

Solid build and should last a long time, which you're going to want if you use your machine for 8+ Hours a day anyway. Both Currys & PC World have these so i'll pop the PC World link in comment one (Just in case that's your preferred, for whatever reason)

So yeah... it might seem quite expensive for a mouse like this, but comfort is everything over long periods. Just like a comfy chair or keyboard palm rest. Find a comfy mouse that is a solid build and you won't regret it. Try in store if you fancy giving it a bit of a road test before hand, after all we all like different things :)

**Blurb**

Crafted for optimum comfort and response, the Logitech MX Master Wireless Darkfield Mouse offers comfortable and precise control.

Hand-sculpted
The ergonomic design supports your hand and wrist in a comfortable, natural position for optimum comfort during use.

A Darkfield laser sensor delivers accurate tracking on virtually any surface, including glass and high-gloss surfaces.

Adaptive scrolling
With the speed-adaptive scroll wheel you'll be able to scroll through long documents and web pages quicker and easier.

The thumb wheel enables side-to-side scrolling with just a stroke of your thumb. The actions of the scroll wheels and buttons are fully customisable to suit you thanks to the downloadable Logitech Options software.

Wireless connectivity
This wireless mouse uses dual connectivity for optimum performance – connect to your PC or Mac via the included Logitech Unifying Receiver or via Bluetooth Smart technology. You can pair up to three devices and easily switch between them at the touch of a button.

Free from trailing cables, the MX Master offers excellent versatility, ideal for use in the home or office. Recharging quickly, this wireless mouse provides up to 40 days of power from a full charge.

Wow, quite a lot for a wireless mouse, considering you can get ones as cheap as a fiver.

There is a world of difference in functionality between them. Whether the differences are worth the money is for you to decide though.

I reckon I spend 5-6 hours a day using a mouse, 5-7 days a week, I probably replace a mouse every 3-4 years, so by my reckoning it's costing me something like 4-5p a day for the most comfortable and ergonomic mice I can buy - I'd recommend people try one in their hand though before parting with the cash, or if you use a mouse left handed.

I've been using this series for years, never worn one out, sometimes I've replaced batteries, but all the switches and everything else have worked reliably. I'm only updating my Performance MX because I'd like to free up a USB slot and switch to Bluetooth.

Bought this to replace a Corsair M95 that was a little small for my hand and oh my god what an improvement. Yes it's a lot of money to spend and yes I lose some DPI but the weight is perfect for me, the size fits my hand far better, the thumb rest is a nice addition and to top it off you can spend hours playing with the scroll wheel by getting it into free spin mode

I have had these MX range mouses for many years, always end up with problems with the scroll wheel one way or the other. I finally decided to try a wireless £10 vertical mouse from Amazon and I have had great success with it. sucess

To be fair I've always thought the build quality of Logitech products was poor. Their non-mechanical keyboards are probably some of the worst crap you can buy.

i usually got the double click error, logitech were good at replacing within warranty but they need to use better microswitches
i use an anker as well now, almost disposable though not as nice
thought it failed after 19 months so bought a new tecknet cheapy which also seems ok - but opening up the anker and cleaning seems to have fixed it

I managed to get one reserved in a relatively local store...but it will be worth the drive to get the mouse I've wanted for a while. My MX Performance mouse has been brilliant in fairness and must be 6 years old now and its brilliant. I've wanted one of these for a while now but couldn't really justify the full price they were asking. My current mouse will go to be used on my IMAC as its great how it works on any surface.

Bought one of these for at home and one for work. No regrets, spending all day using a mouse - it's definitely worth having one that's comfortable and is less likely to cause damage to my hands over the years!

Stupid price for a mouse? It's a mouse! Crazy money.
mbuckhurst to pdryder
9 May 16 #31
Only if you don't use one that much, if like me you're a programme/IT specialist, who uses a mouse all day, the comfort far outweighs the cost. I wouldn't suggest one to occasionally read your emails, but if you sit down writing code all day and do a lot of scolling, a high quality mouse like this can make life so much easier.

I've got a cheap bluetooth mouse and in no way does it compare, probably worth the 1/8th the price as a throw away device if it packs in, but equally well this mouse is worth 10x the price, assuming it lasts as well as every other Logitech mouse I've owned.

FECKING HELL! £54.99 is a Hot Deal? You must be joking?

Christ, I thought I had overspent when I paid just over 18 quid for a A4 Tech one! In fact it was horrible to hold so went back to my old A4 tech wireless optical connected to 2 channel battery charger by the same make. I don't need anything else, I don't do gaming. At all. Most are elaborate for gamers. For just sitting all day in front of the pc, just get a wireless one that fits comfortably. End of.

If you want something mad looking...

OR
If you are a fool and your money is soon parted, get virtually the same thing for over a hundred quid. LOL!

Worth checking in/calling store if looking for stock. There was none showing in Sheffield online. Went to meadowhall retail park and they had one left.

Good mouse so far. I use a mouse 8-9 hours daily due to working in IT.

Not sure id spend this type money if it was for casual use, but if you're a heavy computer user/work in IT then good equipment makes a world of difference.

Picked up the last one in Oxford after John Lewis rejected Price Matching because it's OOS for Delivery. Website said there weren't any in stock but there was one hanging from the racks. Has connected to my laptop no problems and has been highly rated by many YouTube tech reviewers. Time will tell but so far seems to do a good job and seems much better than the similarly priced Magic Mouse 2.

Beware Mac users - this does not play too nicely over bluetooth, unless you want the 'unifying receiver' constantly connected to your Mac. Apparently they have a well known problem of not working after waking from sleep.

https://forums.logitech.com/t5/Mice-and-Pointing-Devices/MX-Master-doesn-t-pair-or-doesn-t-stay-connected-OSX/td-p/1381672

Looks like someone has got a script workaround to basically disable / enable the Bluetooth on Mac, but far from ideal..

Shame as I have been tempted by this in the past, but that put me off
blowy111
9 May 16 1 #53
I was told not so long ago by a member of staff that they had to have at least 3 available in store before they would accept a reserve and collect or show stock. This is to allow time for them to pick the item without risk of them selling out....

Brought & returned to Amazon Germany who were cheapest at the time. Kept disconnecting from my Mac every minute or so. As for Unifying receiver, wouldn't recognise that one was plugged in.

I guess rather than living room furniture you sit on these http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/00246196/ rather than a sofa, after all they both perform the same function for your fat ****

If you work in IT then obviously you'll buy the best equipment for your job, if your an artist you don't get your materials from the Works, I doubt Wiggins nips down to Aldi for saddles for his bike and I've no doubt Lewis Hamilton does drive around town in a Dacia.

Personally for use all day long, the shaped Logitech mice do make a difference, spending a fraction of my salary on one is therefore as worthwhile as anyone else getting the right equipment for their job. Features like the freewheel scrolling help enormously when scrolling through code, as does the sideways scrolling, very cheap mice come close to that.

Honestly, all those dissing this mouse, don't knock it until you've tried it. And Logitech customer service also gets a big thumbs up from me. I had a Logitech Mediaplay mouse until dongle packed up about 5 years ago...it was excellent. I looked round for a replacement dongle but couldn't find one anywhere. Clutching at straws (knowing the mouse was no longer being made), I called Logitech to see if they still had any dongles and if so, could I buy one. They did, and said that they would send me one free of charge since I loved the mouse so much. When it arrived, it had been couriered from Holland to Germany then across to London then on to me in the North East all free of charge. When the time came to move on last year I looked round for a decent quality mouse and the MX Master was the only one that fit the bill as a replacement for the Mediaplay. It's an excellent mouse and customisable both globally across Windows and individually program by program. Buy one, you won't regret it.

I'm currently using a Logitech G700. Nice mouse but it's always running out of power and doesn't have a dock for quick charge up's. I notice this mouse has up to 40 days and even half that would be great. How would this mouse compare performance wise?
babblerx
9 May 16 #59
I find I'm getting about 3 to 4 weeks per full charge based on 4 to 5 hours use a day. But it's also useable whilst charging and comes with a reasonably long USB charging cable, so even when the battery needs to be recharged it's not a problem.
Novezeil
9 May 16 1 #60
We often joke G700 is not a wireless mouse and instead it's a wired one. There're 8 eneloop standing by under my monitors.

Major differences:
1. MXM battery usually last 1 month for me
2. MXM uses skin-like material which different from G700 plastic
3. MXM microshift is the advanced type than any other Logi mouses
4. MXM only has 1000 dpi.
5. Thumb button and horizontal wheel (the only, and the best alternative compare to R.A.T series)

NeoTrix
10 May 16 1 #72
I think it depends how you use your mouse i guess. One of the benefits to this mouse is being able to hook it up wirelessly to 3 devices, allowing you to control 3 separate machines at the touch of a button. Now, i know that sounds crazy to the average user, but can be really handy for multi tasking in an office environment. You can basically have a tablet, Mac and a PC hooked up to the same mouse at the same time If you needed to and control them independently.

Also it's comfy for long sessions (not everyone has issue there either, i know) it has a decent sensor as well as the scroll wheel option and extra buttons... I dunno, it's defo not for everyone but does offer a lot of bells and whistles for those that can make use of them

Not that you don't know the above, but that really can make an impact on productivity, for the right people.

Will keep an eye on it and update if it comes back for del!

22 May 16 #87
Yes and no, yes it has a long battery, reliable Bluetooth, lovely to use and fits my hand perfectly, a really nice mouse to use for extended periods.

No, it has a huge fundamental design floor, which means after a bit of use, which will vary from user to user, the auto ratchet mechanism eventually stops working, usually resulting in the mouse wheel being stuck in freewheel mode, which is a pain. There are articles on the web showing how many people get the problem, plus a couple of videos showing you how to fix it at a cost of your warranty.

I'll be taking mine back to Curry's at some point, it's not that big a deal because of the way I use the mouse, but I'm not paying £55 for a mouse that isn't perfect.

It appears Logitech support aren't interested in sorting the problem, which seems to largely be a case of glueing a part so it can't move, and unless Curry's has old stuck, I'm not convinced they've fixed it on newer ones.

Having ordered in May, my MXM developed the exact fault (scroll wheel stuck in freespin mode) by the end of July.

I've been away a lot over the last few months, and have only just got around to contacting Amazon. They basically are not interested in replacing it at all (as although it's within 6 months of purchase, they say the warranty is now with Logitech - something that I'm rather dubious of!).

So it looks like I'm stuck at the mercy of Logitech to sort this out - watch this space!!

My experiance with logitech was great so far. Funny as every single mouse i bough was replaced. G500 G700S G602... Every single Logitech mouse have some common well known problem which is pretty upseting. But since
every time they repleace it with new product, not even claiming faulty one back, i feel like iam upgrading them for free.
Selling faulty as spares and new replacement covering cost of some newest model:)
