it's actually quite good, I have a 100w sub in the car that can't match it, but I know that's down to it being 12v.
obviously it's not gonna shake the room, but do you really want to bass to overpower the speech?

While you're at it you can make a great tinfoil hat to protect your brain from all types of radio waves. You can disguise your tinfoil hat by hiding it under a hoody or beany hat.

I only have what I know from my daughter, who had one free from John Lewis when they bought their 50 inch Sony TV. I think it's fine. Good top end and mid range. NFC and BT and looks good as the TV can stand on it (which keeps the good lady happy!!).
As no one's commented either way I'll go for the Sony as that's what I was planning on getting anyway.

Never actually owned or tried one to be honest but you can't just look at the wattage as a perfect indication of volume. 50RMS is quite a lot.

I've gone back to the manual - there is no PIN on the Bluetooth so anyone who can see the device can connect to it, and once it gets a connection the source changes. No way round it. Has happened to me on three occasions (four if you count the time I did it from the car outside to annoy the missus).

Whilst cheapskates make up a large chunk of the hukd audience, don't forget the people who like wasting their money on things they don't need or want. eg 'Great deal, I bought these cheap gloves even though I don't have any hands' etc

who truly believes 50w isn't enough? and dont forget that's rms, not peak.
my Sony is only 80w total with a sub (assuming 40 is for sub and 20 each speaker) and it's never went near full volume.
even my little srs x2 is only 20w and that's never on full volume

Insightful.
There are good use cases for soundbars - might be a leap for you but if you've got **** all space and a secondary set they're a godsend versus built in speakers. Think of the bedroom or even the kitchen (mounted under cabinets is a neat solution to keep the worktop clear) for example.

Locate where the bluetooth aerial is and put a piece of reflective insulation between it and the wall facing your neigbour. There is a type that is 22 layer think, about 10 layers of aluminium in it that's very effective to block out any wifi and bluetooth. You could do a "Blue Peter" this using kitchen foil , cut into 15 to 20cm and sandwich it 20 times with paper.

I need some advice please. I have a Tv which states it has 4 speakers each 10w so in total 40w. Would a soundbar such as this with only 40W dramatically improve the sound from my tv or not?

Coming up as £14 delivery for me. I expect this is the usual Northern Ireland excess that many sellers add on.

I paid £39.95 brand new in Argos in December so this is not much of a saving for a refurb. I can attest to the quality though, made a difference to my cheap TV.
On the downside, the Bluetooth has no PIN - and as soon as anyone connects, it interrupts the other inputs. Have been connected to by someone in the neighbourhood several times, and heard their music, and nothing I can do to stop it! :disappointed:

That's ridiculous, why wouldn't they have a pairing system on it? Or be able to turn bluetooth off?, That almost put me of buying it but I have anyway, I just hope I don't have people connecting to it like you do, Thanks for the heads up though!
And thanks OP.

Unless you're using your TV as a computer monitor, you should really buy a set of speakers that's 100W or more in order to get decent sound quality and to fill a decent sized room for bed/sofa-watching.
These low RMS 50W sound systems are almost a scam - they look big and nice but the sound quality is not enough to justify buying a separate sound system. A separate subwoofer is a must for having a decent sound setup for a living room.
I've just seen two different LG soundbars on that Tesco Ebay page which are 100W and 120W respectively, with separate subwoofers. Slightly more expensive but well worth it.
