There's usually an extra £100 or so on the price for hdmi IN.

I bought same type but LG surround 5.1 3D bluray player for £89.99 three months before. This one too seems to be very nice deal but no Bluray.

I had a Panasonic DVD surround sound system once - was great, but soon found it was very very limited.Currently have a Sony Blu-Ray surround system with optical in so I can use my PS4 through it, however now I find myself limited by the fact that I can not get surround from my PC (has input for RCA but this only outputs stereo)
If you want to futureproof your sound system, get one with HDMI-IN if possible
This is a dvd system with speakers. Great value if this is what you want but cannot be connected to games consoles, blu rays etc as far as I can see. Happy to be proved wrong!

Without any inputs, spdif, etc, it's purely for dvd's which makes it very limited like you said.

I've seen these speakers on Amazon and they work with Blu Ray/ new Sony 4K players...

Even cheaper sub £50 Sony 5.1 system but again with no digital in. Can be connected to analogue sources for Dolby Pro Logic surround.
