This is a problem with a bunch of "smart" TV's really. Im my experience, it's usually better buying a TV based on its quality/price and then just plug in a Fire stick/Roku etc
Nice price if anyone can get one

Bought this a few weeks back from Tesco on eBay using the eBay 20% off everything code. It's a nice TV but I'm in the process of returning my set because the built in apps (YouTube, iPlayer etc) are frustratingly slow to respond and keep freezing. Just a word of warning. (Could just be my set though)

Yes this isn't a WebOS based SmartTV. LG have moved to WebOS on more recent sets and this makes a big difference with smart features. All smart features will eventually become redundant on any TV as they simply won't get updated anymore. As already mentioned it doesn't matter as you'll always be able to add up to date smart features using an external HDMI device, such as the Amazon Firestick.

Absolutely spot on. I bought and have a beautiful Sony, it's like a sheet of black glass jutting out of a silver stand. Impeccable screen but the apps are slow, and YouTube no longer supported. I've bought a dedicated box and for me, would only go that route in the future.
Oddly enough I saw these TVs in the Fulbourn branch on Tuesday and sent a picture to my mate. Shame on me for not posting. There were some 43" models there too about £25 more than the 40" one listed here.
We brought this tv over Christmas. Its a nice tv, especially at this price. It has 3 usb ports and a built in media player that plays all formats off the hard drive including MKV. I have had 3 hard drives attached at once including a 3tb one. It loads within seconds. The only thing it does not play is 10 bit encoded video/movies and Flac Audio in films.Everything else is no problem. My WD Media player gets very little use because of it.

I have this TV and TBH found the smart apps better than the equivalent ones on the PS3. Netflix, Amazon Prime and Now Tv all work flawlessly ( on Fibre + ). The TV is excellent apart from the sound which is garbage, I had to feed it through the amp to get acceptable sound

I just unplugged my Fire Stick because this TV has Amazon Video app which works pretty much the same way. So far iPlayer, YouTube, etc are working fine. I also upgraded the firmware maybe that helped.

LF580V is a WEBOS TV I had since Xmas from JL paid £329 with price match. It has sat and cable tuners built in as well as HD freeview. The only issue I have is sometimes when I change channels pictures disappear for few seconds before coming back and 'no signal cube' starts bouncing on screen.
The other issue is very few decent apps available for Webos system compared with android.

We managed to get the last one from our local on Saturday. SEL was £202 but because it was ex display, we got it for £160.00. It is a fantastic tv and the service we received in store was second to none.

I stand corrected, I have an LG TV with WebOS, great system, but I never use it as I have an Nvidia Shield TV.

By beautiful Sony you don't mean the 48nx723 by any chance?? That's what i have, beautiful picture but crap smart features that are all out of date.... May i ask what box you got for it? How have you been finding it?

Has anyone else called up to check the price and they said £349?

this is reduced so far PURELY because they're discontinued, it's literally to get rid of the last remaining ones in stores as the new range is in this month, I got the last one from hindley 2 weeks ago for £230, doubt I'd have found a local one cheaper if I'd waited, I have PC speakers/sub connected to mine and its loaded with everything I wanted from a TV, but because I was actually looking for a small one from the spare room when I got this, my spare room has a massive TV in it, which is what was in my lounge!!

I think it's a HX923. I have a Now TV box and use the apps from there. Great little device. Also have freeview and the picture on there is fantastic. Love it, best TV I've ever owned but it did cost me £1700 four or five years ago. Has Skype that still works, prime video app, some others too. Iplayer works better than it once did so I do on occasion use this.

Fancy selling your WD MEDIA player on the cheap then?

As others have mentioned smart features, apps etc I feel are mostly redundant. They are painfully slow compared to the multitude of options that you can use via HDMI. If you are new to these TV's dont base your buying decision solely on smart features.

so if someone who works for tesco want a new tv, they are greedy, but if someone who doesn't work for tesco wants a new tv they aren't?

they arent customers when they are working. I think he is referring to those staff that like to lie to customers and hide them in the warehouse until their shift is finished.

By very little use, I mean less than the TV, but I do use the WD, because it is the only tv device I have that I can play the FLAC audio anime that I have.

Spend a little more for the 43" sony 4K Ultra HD for around £499. This is only FULL HD.
Just my opinion.
