Far superior to other brand names out there, love the latex range of paint.

The previous owner of our house painted over the old paint , wallpaper pieces, wallpaper paste, and probably PVA. I've stripped the walls, and working on getting all the paste, pva out of the wall.
I'd like a scrubble finish but not sure if I need to obliterate and stabilise the surface with a high coverage contract matt like in the deal first before covering with a vinyl matt ?

Just decorating all rooms in a flat, bought this and it's Rubbish, thin and poor coverage, load of plop, have since bought the Armstead trade White Matt which is manufactured by Dulux trade and is far superior and available at screwfix for 20 squids, like whipped cream with great coverage and opacity, it's not brilliant white though so is slightly darker

This is very poor paint IMO.
It is way too thick, and does not spread well. Opacity is good though but if you have new plaster and want a really uniform, flat finish look at something else. I'm a very experienced DIYer and have used many paints. This didn't improve much after thinning either.
Armstead Contract from Dulux Decorators is good cheap stuff. Just noticed, they also sell this at Screwfix (wished they had when I bloody needed it, would have saved me buying this rubbish)

This is contract Matt and not vinyl matt. This is ideal for new plaster as vinyl traps moisture whereas this allows the plaster to breathe. However, it's the vinyl that gives paint the tough finish that can be wiped clean.
This is definitely not thin and in fact you should add up to 50% water for first coat over new plaster and up to 10% for finish coats to aid application.
This can be used for ceilings as a finished coat as you won't need a tough finish, apart from kitchens and bathrooms.
Also, pleas note that there is a big difference between Trade paints and the crap you find in Homebase. Dulux Trade is very good, Dulux retail is terrible.

This is the regular price? Or at least, a regular offer... I paid £22 for 2 a good few weeks ago.

first coat on new plater should always be watered down significantly. I add about a third of water... some say a 50/50 split... new plaster sucks in water so putting on a water heavy base coat will ensure a better finish. Done it many many times in my time as a landlord and plasterer - wouldnt put paint striaght on new plaster out of the tin tbh.

I watered it down a bit for the first coat on new plaster.

Clearly you haven't used this paint. It's far from thin.

use this on ceilings and as an undercoat on walls, its better than other paints (not thin) but its not very hard wearing, and doesn't really stand up to wiping.

It's great on new plaster because it's thin :-) Still good value if you don't mind doing a few coats, just did my loft room with it.

Great find Op! Agree this is excellent paint for the money and not thin! Have been advised previously is the best paint to use on new plaster as it allows it to dry.
