For a quid it's worth a punt if you've never tried it

On its own - you are correct, has a rubbery, non-descript feel to it. But tastes great in salami / pastrami type sandwiches

Never tried this, is it like cheddar?

No. This has a distinctive taste. I love cheddar & not much else but really like this...esp at this price!!

Nothing like cheddar, a really nutty taste and quite a rubbery texture. I love it in sandwhichs but wouldn't really eat it on its own. I do love my cheese though.
