This is the lowest price that this has been for sale at and is an excellent alternative to the Kindle paperwhite.
I bought one of these last year and use it with a large library of Amazon purchased Kindle books (via Calibre) as well as ePub books downloaded for free from my local library.
Will be in stock after 31st and buying from Amazon means the usual peerless customer service.

Id still rather gove kobo my money than amazon tbh but its a good price. Kay, its not cmon now. Ereaders have been around since the 90s amazon copied others.

There's a free program called Calibre that will convert any format to any other (and lose the unsightly DRM in the process). I used it to jump ship from Kindle to Kobo. Pretty easy process.

Hell of a long shot....
I have a brand new kindle paperwhite arriving tomorrow. I would offer that +£10 in exchange for a Kobo Glo HD, if anyone has received theirs and decided they prefer the kindle.

My kindle paperwhite has just died (my own fault unfortunately). It's my 3rd Kindle, I think they're fantastic but being able to borrow ebooks from my library online with the kobo is appealing.
Unfortunately this is now up to £110!

Okay, I fully agree with you, why should someone get something very easily for free when they could very easily pay for it.
In my defence, the person that uploads the book to mobilism may have purchased the book. :sunglasses:

Exactly. Not funny. Not clever. Trying paying rather than stealing. Do you think novelists live on air.

There is no external micro SD slot but inside the device there is an internal micro SD slot with 4GB card in it. The OS and user storage resides on it.
If you open the case up, you can replace the included 4GB card with a larger one. You need to clone the original card. Not something they intend users to do, will void the warranty obviously. But pretty straightforward.

And Kindle ripped off Sony, ereaders predate the kindle by a good margin and the styling of this current generation again predate Kindle.
I've got the H2O and it's a good ereader, I've yet to have something beat my old Sony(light, touchscreen, audio, metal body with integrated cover), but it's good. I like the waterproof aspect as I like to read outdoors and in the bath, but had this been cheaper back then I would have gotten one of these instead.

I've got this model and also use calibre. Means I can legally purchase the books I want at the cheapest I can find them, then use calibre to ensure it can be loaded on to the kobo. I paid full price for my kobo glow hd and it's a pleasure to use.
I buy nearly all my books from Amazon but converting to ePub is so easy don't be put off buying non-Amazon readers.

The Glo and another cheaper model but I don't know the details for the cheaper one at £49

Yes, we do. What's your way? Steal them?

Aren't audiobooks meant to be used where you can't have a book, like driving or walking? Carrying a 6" reader with you in both cases is cumbersome, so nobody wants to pay extra for an option that 99.5% of us would never use.
I had text to speech and audiobook playback in my kindle keyboard 3g and the amount of times I've ever used is exactly zero.

My local Asda in Dumbarton had these on offer for £69 and other Kobo ones for £49 if anyone is interested.

Vat is the killer of ebooks. The audio thing is missing from most ereaders. Text to speech isn't all that and is a weak alternative to an audiobook obvs. Why amazon or kobo dont add audio capabilities to a model beyond me. Kk not included.

Those of us with Nooks are now finding out how eBooks are not such a good idea.
The transfer of my books from b&N to Sainsburys has been about as smooth as sandpaper. Several weeks in and nowt transferred and problem is sitting with the tech people. Even if it goes through correctly it can take 90 days for the books to transfer(!).
DRM is the great killer of eBooks and anybody who purchases one is at the mercy of the selling company.
I shall be going back to proper paper books. A sane and low tech solution to a problem that didn't need 'fixing' by tech.

Battery life i supposedly up to 2 months but all ereaders have long enough battery life for me.
No SD slot except the internal one with a 4gb card installed.
PDF reading is an option but it isn't great in b&w in many cases
MP3s no idea but I don't think it has audio out at all.

Finding this in Google takes less time that writing down all questions.
The other thing to check is if your local library does ebooks - as these are supported on Kobo, but not Kindle - for free - then well worth getting a Kobo, for lots of free books.
e.g. Birmingham allows you to borrow 3 books (with DRM) and they are 'returned' after 2 or 3 weeks
I would like to know a few things before I purchase one of these.
1: Whats the battery life like
2: Does it have a micro SD slot?
3: Would it display PDF magazine files clearly? (obviously not in colour)
4: Can it play such things as MP3 music while you are reading?
Thanks

Amazed that these can be bought on Amazon.

Agreed. They were always available but Amazon priced them significantly higher than they were available elsewhere (at times higher than the actual RRP), which makes the current price all the more incredible.
