Interesting, I'm assuming it being a 'Wireless-enabled' Device, was where the denial of the use of this Product kind of makes sense I guess?.
People have been both arrested &/or escorted off of Planes and jailed off the strength of accusations of less than this?, so .....
Be careful with trying to emulate similar in future, etc?. :-)

My DD uses this with her Ipad air.
No issues once network found. However, she wasn't allowed to use on recent flight!

I've had this device for a couple of years... I use it with an app called 'Filebrowser' on IOS (apple devices) and Infuse (to watch videos -it sees the device directly) - the Mobilelite app is ok (good for backing up photos), but only reads certain file formats, whereas Filebrowser sees all file formats and Infuse all video formats... WIFI works great upto 3 devices streaming in a 10 square metre area. Built in battery is handy when on the move to top up the mobile phone at least once (steams for about 3 to 4 hours off full charge). Wouldn't hesitate at this price...

I'm literally never going to use this, but I'm still hovering over the "buy" button...!

Is there any way to use this without having to install the app?

Well, I'm sure there are updates to this kind of product, but I've had mine for a couple of years and find it great for transferring photos and other files when away from my PC and on holiday when I want to stream movies to more than one device. Sometimes the wifi connect is a bit buggy, but persevere and it connects fine. Usually it's because the host device flicks back to a stronger wifi signal from another network, but you can see this straight away in wifi settings, just force it to connect to mobilelite.
For what it is, I think its still a good device and I wouldn't be without it.

Do not buy. Or check the reviews on the app before you buy.
I have had it for 2years. Mostly kept in my drawer, waiting for an update on the app that Kingston had promised when everybody started complaining about it on the Google play store.
Once it did arrive, not much had improved.
in the end I sold it on eBay last week for less than £5. I really wanted to like it. The device has a great potential. The app makes it unusable

I dislike products that advertise themselves as working with "Any Smart Phone/Iphone" and then listing some that it won't work with. Smacks of suckering people in with big headlines and then hanging them out to dry with small print.

I've had this device for over 2 years, & it wasn't a new model even then. It's ok, but newer & better alternatives are available. Do some research before purchase.
I was given a HooToo TripMate Nano last Christmas, since when the MobileLite has been gathering dust in a drawer. Doubt I'll ever use it again.

Great little device for the price point. I bought one of these a couple of years back but found the app laggy and kept crashing. Has this been sorted with updates?

Fair enough?.
I did my Deal via my Phone, so no other way around it at the time, etc? (as once Phone detected, then 'Mobile Site' always initiates!, lol).
But thanx anyway. :-)

Thanx for mentioning that.
I'm glad your enjoying yours.
And yes I agree, the free App inclusion is kind of the best additional bit, etc.
For this Kingston Product, theres both an Android App for this on Google Play Store, & iOS App for this on the Apple Store, both of which enable you to Wirelessly be able to use this Device with both the relevant Phones, &/or your Tablets, etc.
Great little device and very handy. Main feature for me comes with the free MobileLite Wireless app that some may not have picked up at first glance looking at this.
I've had one for a couple of years and use it to turn my potable hard drives into wireless media players whenever we go away anywhere so the kids have plenty of movies to hand if the weather isn't that great or we want to watch something on an evening (I use it with iPad via the app and Apple TV).
Compared to wireless portable hard drives / media devices this is a cheap alternative...or it was when I bought mine
