Now online!Great price for the new flagship smartphone from Huawei comparing with CPW or Amazon. You can skip topup and get it for £300
To buy without a mandatory top-up:
There is a 'Keep Existing SIM' option at the bottom of the 'Bundles' page, which allows you to purchase a PAYG phone without a top-up. Unfortunately Vodafone now hides this button a few seconds after the page has loaded. You have to be quick to click the button, if you miss it simply hit F5 or the 'Refresh' button on your browser to reload the 'Bundles' page and try again.
- chancooluk
jetskizzz:
Another way to "catch" the keep existing sim button is to use Firefox, click "View - Page Style - No Style" and the text page appears. The button doesn't disappear. Ctrl-F to search for "Keep" and job done. I'm sure other browsers may have this feature, but I have checked this in Firefox on a Mac and it works.
Available in two colours.
Quidco pays 3% for instore purchase if you activated vodafone offer with them but have to buy topup min £10 then.

I contacted Vodafone a couple of weeks ago to cancel my order, they said it would take 48 hrs to process.
Logged on to my credit card account to see they have charged me £300 for the phone (phone has not been delivered). Safe to say I have filed a dispute on the payment!

Mines been really good, unplug at 8am by 11pm still have 30-50% battery left. Use maybe 45mins on satnav, 1.5hrs on calls, usual Facebook, hot deals throughout the day. But I'm mainly on wifi.

Just for info, unless anyone is worried about the "Awaiting stock emails" like I was. I placed my order on Saturday 11th May for an in-store collection (Rochdale).
I received multiple emails saying we'll send you an update in 3 days, 4 days then finally 10 days.
In that time I rang the 191 number to find out what was going on and pretty much got fobbed off and told to use the online tracker (which had no more info), I attempted 'Web chat' which was a waste of time, they referred me to the 191 number again.
Finally called back and they said ring back the next day and they will call the warehouse for me.
Called back the next day, warehouse was closed, so someone would give me a call back the next day.
Turns out the next day (Wednesday the 22nd of May), the phone was in-store and ready for collection.
Picked it up, unlocked it with DC-unlocker straight away, now using the phone, lovely device and I'm quite surprised at how good the battery life is.

Yeah Vodafone is a bit of a joke, definitely won't be trying to buy a phone from them in the future. If only I'd have took up the salespersons offer and got the phone instore the day after I placed my order. Thought it wasn't worth the hassle of canceling my online one as it would arrive in a week..such a naive fool haha.

I was in the same boat, ordered to store for collection. After a week of chasing they told me it was ready for collection via the online chat. But looking at the online tracker it just said "error". I turned up anyway to the store, they checked my order and confirmed it was never dispatched, it was "wait open order".
The store person ordered over the phone for me and i got another confirmation email. This time the online tracker said "ordered confirmed". But next day i checked and it said "cancelled"! Spent 40mins on the phone only to be told it was out of stock so the order had been cancelled.
Not giving up i ordered online again, this time there was a pickup from store right away option, so i placed another order. Received a confirmation email few hours later, so headed to the store. Showed them the order and bad news, they wasn't able to release the phone since the order was stuck in the system. I told the guy all the hassle i had been through and kicked up a fuss. He agreed to release the phone to me and they would sort the paperwork out the next day. Luckily i went in that day as the price went up the next day!

coming up to 3 **** weeks yeah.. all I get is emails saying wait 3 days wait 5 days and now wait 10 days. they are taking the ****. when you call them they have not got a clue!! what's going on!! no one knows when I'll get my phone. people received there's.. 25 May 16#218
No, I just phoned them and cancelled my order. The **** are saying my order is in "wait open order" status. Meaning it is neither been accepted by Vodafone or cancelled by Vodafone - because they do not have stock in the warehouse.
They say they'd contact the warehouse and "accelerate" the case - like they have told me for the last 2 weeks; and call me back - which they have never did.
I called them **** since they are still **** selling it online and increased the price. It is **** misrepresentation and I am going to ombudsmen for complain. Then they said hold it and would "further accelerate" my case - I just said "na, man, we are done."
Cancelled my order and now I am thinking of buying a S7 instead.

22 May 16#213
Don't do this is you want to use Android Pay though as installing the stock ROM puts the P9 at version C900B136 which is not certified for Android Pay. C900 being the code for international ROMs and I've seen several people with this version commenting that they are unable to use the service.
Good luck with that!
As it sounds like a software issue it'll either be a return to the manufacturer to fix or full refund. Then you'll have to return the free gifts too.

I pre ordered mine online about 3 weeks ago to pick up on May 6th with the free smartwatch and leather case bundle! With my wife's discount I got 10gb unlimited everything else for £32 a month happy days.....apart from I seem to have a dud unit! The camera app takes about 5 seconds to launch then will only take a couple of pictures at best then just refuses to take anymore! Even using 3rd party camera apps! So waiting like a few of the rest of you for fresh stock to come in. But I'm going to sell mine when I do and pick up a s7 for about 400 add in the free watch that I will keep it should work out that I'm getting my data plan for less than £10 a month! I'm still a bit torn as I really like the phone but major major lag is a no no for a phone less than 2 weeks old.

What a bloody headache! After 3 online chats and a call (total 1.5hrs) was told yesterday morning the phone will be delivered to store ready for pickup today. Got there this morning, after 15mins he got the handset and started the process. Then asked to see my order ref again, said they can't find any info on their system. He called the main office, was on hold for 10mins, explained a customer had come in to pickup an online order. They couldn't find any info on the order apart from "Open open status".
He was told to call the warehouse to see if they had any info, another 10min on hold they confirmed no such order. He then called the main office again another 10min on hold, they had no choice but to cancel my order and reordered again for me. They didn't have grey in stock to sell to me, so had no choice but to start the damm process again!
The cheeky sales guy even asked if i wanted to take out a new contract! You can guess what my bloody reply was.

I have got the phone since Friday I upgraded from S4. it took a bit of time for me to set up notifications and things because the emui is a bit different. compare to the S4 the camera the speed of the phone and battery life is exceptionally good. regarding the battery during normal use it takes me through the day with some remaining juice at the end while I had to recharge my S4 during the day as it went flat completely. the screen is ok I don't think there's a massive difference to the flagship phones or it's just not important for me because I found this one good enough. I hope it helps. definitely worth the £300 or a bit more.

Lol, the Vodafone voice chat people are a lot nicer in the weekends than during the week. Just put through a chat with them and they confirmed that it is out of stock but a new delivery is coming in on Monday and it will be allocated to me by then. This is also the reason why they didn't take money from my bank account because they are waiting for the phones to arrive, otherwise they wouldn't need to do a refund procedure if the delivery got fuxked up.
So... Waiting it is then.

If like me you don't like the huge icons and just want to get more on the screen than stock, you can decrease the dpi of the screen via adb and no root needed.
Just type the following command - adb shell wm density 430 && adb reboot
430 being the updated dpi setting (stock is 480). Apparently you shouldn't go any lower than 430 as some apps would be adversely affected. I can say that it makes better use of the HD screen and everything looks nicer.

Unlocking so it can be used on another network does not invalidate warranty (Vodafone themselves can do this if you request it - although you have to have had the SIM active for a month and pay £19.99)
Unlocking the bootloader to modify the phone software will invalidate the warranty though, so care needs to select the right option with the dc-unlocker tool.

You have to install the client app on a windows machine, then register and "buy" credits from their website with paypal to use the app (4 credits)
Phone plugs into computer, enable debug mode on the usb so the app can communicate with the phone.
I followed this guide, except chose the "read unlock codes" option from the unlock menu - this gave me the four codes for my phone. https://www.dc-unlocker.com/huawei-android-hisilicon-unlock-guide
After i put my EE sim in, typed the NCK code in and job done.

I ordered online yesterday. Happened to go to Meadowhall today and they had stock available on PAYG at £300, she even brought both colours out to me...wasn't able to cancel my order online though, I couldn't get through to anyone on the phone and I can't be bothered with sending one back so I'm just going to wait. But if anyone is around that area and was after this deal...

I just ordered mine today. I got some assistance from the live chat and the lady said it is usually dispatched around 48 hours. So...
Anyway, I looked around every Vodafone stores (almost every) in London and they are all saying it is out of stock and would only sell the stocks in store to pay monthly subscribers...
So people... Order online, even if you have to wait a long **** time lol.

The Abingdon store I bought mine from yesterday had to do a PM to PAYG swap. He saw the same deal for £350 but confirmed after calling the helpdesk that it was for the band and not the watch. As the band retails for £60, it's not much of a sweetner if you didn't already want one. He also said nowhere nationally had stock of the band and when I called the phone sales team they couldn't even find it.
I can vouch for that. Spent beautiful Sunday taking pics and comparing with my Galaxy S7 and have to say the pics were at least as good and sometimes better than the S7. In fact I don't like the over sharpening of that the S7 does to pics at all. However in low light the P9 struggles against the f1.7 aperture of the S7.

John Lewis in Oxford Street is selling it at 330 pounds as PAYG with Vodafone sim. It costs more than online price but in case you don't want to wait for 1-2 weeks and just want to pick it up right away - this is an option.

@ tyr & MacGyverUS;
Yeah looking at the price of the watch, I wish I'd asked if they had any in stock and to get a look at it now.
However I already have a Sony SW2, and to be completely honest with you, I think the watches are a waste of money. Other than being able to look at your watch ever now and then for a text rather than pulling you phone out, I just use it for telling the time (and if you want to reply to the text you end up using your phone anyway, because it's easier and quicker).
The only reason I would buy one for £50 is if I knew I could sell it for more. The Sony SW2 is used just as a work watch now, as I don't care if it gets damaged and having a digital date/time in 24hr format comes in handy for the job I do.

Went into the Loughborough Voda and they said they didn't have any in stock and none shown at other local stores (Derby, Leics & Notts).
Drove 10 mins to the store in Coalville, they didn't have any on PAYG but did have them on contract and swapped it over to PAYG for me. The girl at the checkout did say something about it showing at £350 on their screen (even though the display model had the £300 ticket showing), but then another member of staff came over and said that was the price with the watch.

as a oneplus owner i would say this phone at this price beats the oneplus range hands down. even if the op3 has slightly better specs it will still need to be sent back to china for repairs etc unlike the customer service with the p9. Lets not go onto the camera on the opo and op2 which is frankly horrendous and then the persistent software bugs. p9 imo has second best phone after s7/s7e in current flagship market, however at half the price.. no brainer.

Does anyone know how this compares to the Huawei Honor 7?
I purchased a Honor 7 on Boxing Day on a Amazon lighting deal for 175.00 smackers & I'm completely blown away by it, an absolute bargain. I'm just wondering how much "better" this P9 is and if it's worth upgrading to it seeing as I got the H7 dirt cheap.
mamboboy to Nut82uk
8 May 161#66
This is slimmer, lighter, higher quality construction/design. Faster CPU, better GPU, high-end camera.
The Honor 7's weakness is its graphics really, but if you don't game on it and you're happy with everything then there probably isn't much point paying the extra £150+ to upgrade...
I just like the newest tech and this is a steal at £300 so finding it a little hard to resist atm :disappointed:
titan131 to Nut82uk
8 May 162#67
The P9 has a better camera and a faster and more powerful cpu/gpu. The camera is interesting on the P9 because it has two cameras, one is monochrome (i.e. black and white), the other is colour. Huawei say that both cameras can draw in light for better low light performance and that you can take better black and white photos compared to using software alone to get he same affect. One of it's biggest features is it's ability to blur the background really nicely using information taken from both camera sensors. I.e. if you take a photo of you dog you can then keep the dog in focus and blur everything else in the background. I think it looks really good and reviews typically say this phone does this effect better than any other phone they have tried. If you want to know more about the camera, I recommend the review of the P9's camera on the pocketnow channel on youtube.

jmle101 to isaacchan888
8 May 16#54
Faster than mi5 (and LG G5) despite the lower benchmark ratings on some tests. Check YouTube speed tests.
Same standard screen, better camera but worse audio than mi5. It's also hot expandable storage that the mi5 doesn't, so if you're looking for 64gb upwards it's cheaper, without the complications of import and adding Google play etc. Nothing confirmed for Oneplus3 so can't comment. I suspect it'll be on par with the mi5.
To quickcharge the P9 you'll need to but a quickcharge charger as the one in the box doesn't support it but the P9 itself does.

Cracking deal this. Huawei rep has been in my store banging on about it so I testes it for myself and it really is a brilliant device and a great alternative to Samsung and Apple. You should use the app QuickPic, all you need is either your facebook or google login, then you will have 1TB cloud storage for your photos backup automatically. Much less hassle than setting up a Samsung account and forgot about the account details afterwards since most of us probably use facebook and google more nowadays.
Anyway, just had a live chat with Vodafone. The phone comes sim-locked, but you can unlocked it after a month if you pay 20 pounds.

Logged on to my credit card account to see they have charged me £300 for the phone (phone has not been delivered). Safe to say I have filed a dispute on the payment!

Thank you all in advance :-)
He was told to call the warehouse to see if they had any info, another 10min on hold they confirmed no such order. He then called the main office again another 10min on hold, they had no choice but to cancel my order and reordered again for me. They didn't have grey in stock to sell to me, so had no choice but to start the damm process again!
The cheeky sales guy even asked if i wanted to take out a new contract! You can guess what my bloody reply was.
My online order hasn't gone thru either and they've not taken any money out.

Hello
Just to let you know, we’re still waiting to get your order from the manufacturer.
Don't worry – you've still got your spot in the queue and we'll send another update in 3 days, or sooner if we have more info.
ps. first voda shop in briggate refused to honour the £350 price. second shop at commercial st did. mentioned something about swapping stock from PM to PAYG
Just type the following command - adb shell wm density 430 && adb reboot
430 being the updated dpi setting (stock is 480). Apparently you shouldn't go any lower than 430 as some apps would be adversely affected. I can say that it makes better use of the HD screen and everything looks nicer.
Courtesy of XDA Developers.
One thing I noticed is that it is in stock for pay monthly in store but not for PAYG, would they just sell me one of those?
Called today and told to wait 32 hours.
I hate Vodafone - they promise the world and then lie - had real problems with them previously. good job I am unlocking it.
have they taken money from you, they've not taken from me and I'm thinking of going to Leeds trinity to try my luck there
If so you could try videoing it, and then telling the manager that you'll report them to the ombudsman for false advertising if they don't sell it to you at that price (check they actually have stock first though). I'm not saying that'll work, but worth a try.
Just ordered mine, 1-2 weeks delivery wait (store OR home).
Had to fiddle with the basket though to actually make the 'Keep Existing SIM' option stay there (Clicking 'Keep Existing SIM' goes to a blank white page in Chrome for me, yet does put it into the basket... sometimes).
Also been quoted £8.41 to unlock the phone from http://www.ukphoneunlock.co.uk/
Spent about 3 hours on online chat and phone's
Then askedv me to goto store, where they hadva take it or. leave it attitude. I have lost hope on my order.
Gmail notifiactions ok? When pulling down the notification bar mine are in such a dark text you cant read them
Asked vodafone. They have no idea.
I personally feel it might be better to do it through a code if you are not sure what you are doing..
Unlocking the bootloader to modify the phone software will invalidate the warranty though, so care needs to select the right option with the dc-unlocker tool.

Do they send an unlocking code?

My friend has just come back from lunch with one.
I remember using them about 8 years ago to unlock a ZTE USB mobile broadband dongle and couldn't fault them.
The Honor 7's weakness is its graphics really, but if you don't game on it and you're happy with everything then there probably isn't much point paying the extra £150+ to upgrade...
I just like the newest tech and this is a steal at £300 so finding it a little hard to resist atm :disappointed:
Tempted to upgrade again but its a bit of a risk knowing nothing about unlocking capability/pricing :/
I've not heard good reviews about EMUI - should i just wait for oneplus3 which will probably be cheaper as well
Same standard screen, better camera but worse audio than mi5.
Anyway, just had a live chat with Vodafone. The phone comes sim-locked, but you can unlocked it after a month if you pay 20 pounds.
I don't know if there are methods out there to unlock it manually without paying or waiting...?
