Only 10/100 ethernet, in 2016, really?! Plus A10 Extreme sounds, well, extreme but it's only 3,458 on PassMark. To put that into perspective, an i3-6100U gets 3,519.

There are two points being made there, the scores are in relation the the performance of the CPU.
10/100 is in reference to the data rate of the ethernet port (100Mbps max). Almost all systems ship with 10/100/1000 (Gigabit Ethernet), these days. Not end of the world stuff, but not great either.
The main thing is that the CPU is less good than Intel's budget i3-6100U offering.

This among other reviews seem to suggest this generation of Pavilion 15's are all offering 10/100. Seems strange but unsurprising given the minority of people who actually use a wired connection.
I had ordered this today but have now cancelled and bought an open box star wars edition pavilion with a 6th gen i5 now for £353 off amazon. I still think this is a good machine but couldn't resist the i5 at that price with 1080p screen

It's not a bad deal at all, the relatively nice construction, 1080p screen and 256GB SSD make this a reasonably priced machine. It's just I feel AMD give their chips whizzy names, and to those unaware it may seem as if they're getting top-end hardware. The fact is AMD are sorely behind Intel, this is apparent when a bogo i3 will out punch it. The APU graphics are however better than what Intel's basic chips offer, fairly moot here though, as this has discrete graphics (DDR3 is a drag).
The real question here is whether the screen is IPS or not. Older models had a horrible TN screen.

No, it's 'dual'; it has both the APU chip (some sort of R8 range), and the discreet GPU (R7 M360), hence the 2GB dedicated video memory.

Was looking at the Transformerbook T300Chi, but I'm put off by the unbalanced weight distribution, low battery life, glossy reflective screen and reported issues with bluetooth keyboard connecting..
The Asus Ee403 has it all, eeeexcept it's 32gb storage with 2gb ram. It's only £240, the desired components could be purchased for less than £170... but they don't make it.... whyy?!?!

Mines just arrived. Fairly decent build quality as far as i can tell, all plastic construction though (top is brushed aluminium effect). None of the CPU Temp apps seem to detect the CPU so not sure how hot it's running. Heres a crystal disk mark run for anyone wanting to see the performance of the M.2 SSD. It's nice to have the extra screen space with the higher resolution but it's a bit washed out (As expected from what i assume is a TN panel). I've used the wireless with no issues. Comes with the usual HP bloatware but easy to get rid of. £10 cashback tracked straight away on quidco and can claim a free game with the laptop too (i got Dirt Rally, can't remember what the others were)

Yeah HWInfo seems to detect it! I'd already tried Core Temp, Real Temp, MWMonitor, open hardware monitor with none of them showing.
If HWInfo is correct, it was idling at 23c and maxxed out at 46c after 15 mins of Prime95.
