​They keep putting the arrival date for stock back. I paid via PayPal on 8th April when they had it at this price with a free Bluetooth speaker and have had nothing but lies ever since. "it's going to be in stock Monday..." "you'll get a despatch e-mail soon..." etc etc... The only reason I've not cancelled the order is that I've previously owned the phone and gave it to my girlfriend when I bought the P8 for £150 a few months back. This is a superior phone... Just unfortunate that they're finding stock so hard to come by. vMall seem to use Expansys for their supplier and seem to have the same level of customer service as them :smile:... I'm just happy I'm not desperate for the phone...

Paid £169 at Christmas so this is not the biggest bargain, but it is an awesome phone. Just wish they had included NFC - without that the fingerprint reader (the fastest I've ever used) won't work with Android or Samsung Pay.

Had a number of phones recently. G3, nexus 6, z3 and a g4. Each time I go back to the honor 7. A very slick phone. Fast brilliant screen. Only downside is I have still not found a good case and you can't have dual sim with memory card unless you hack a sim. Apart from that the good battery and quick interface when you have added another launcher more than makes up for it.

Good phone I had used this and nexus 5x and i fell in love with nexus 5x so dumped Honor7
If I did feel nexus I would had loved this

I'm waiting for the new Archos which is due out in June for £200 - Archos Diamond 2 Plus. Meant to be a huge step up in quality from previous phones.

Not seeing NFC on that Archos...giving the multiple uses this is now being put to, I would think essential if in the market for a new phone.

Fair point on the lack of NFC. If I was paying more than £200 it's something I might want but I'm not fussed at the mo. It's a lot of phone for the money and as long as the first impressions of the phone meet expectations when it's launched in June I'll probably go for it.

Would probably need to go the China direct route and, of course, that isn't for everybody what with the inherent risks associated with such a move. But Xiaomi in particular produce phones with comparable/better spec than the Honor 7 for quite a bit less outlay.

always cracks me up how so many people slate iPhone prices but gladly buy Android after Android until they find one they like. it probably ends up costing way more than the iPhone.

I have the Xiaomi mi4c and regret buying it. Xiaomi force you to use their inferior apps instead of the ones you want to use. They are a real disappointment acting like apple do. If I wanted to be treated so badly I would have bought an iPhone.

Very good phone for the price but as with all EMUI phones, avoid it if you like having lock screen music controls, as there aren't any unless you use the stock music app (which is utter garvage).

You can't even swipe down the notification shade if you have a fingerprint or any other security registered, even with a Bluetooth smart lock device connected.

They seem to have added so many awesome features but stripped away some of the essentials in the process. Every other android device at least gives you an option whether or not to display notification info when security measures are in place.

Liking the look of this spec wise but it's unfortunately just out of my price range. What do people recommend for a budget of £170 and preferably 5" with 4G capability on O2 network. Happy to consider China route. Give me your ideas people...

Had mine since it first launched. Great phone, excellent battery life and the fingerprint sensor works perfectly.

I've also managed to break it twice (my own hamfistedness).. I was able to repair it both times pretty easily and for very cheap

Of course they don't. I had a Mi4c, until it was stolen recently.

Firstly, you can install any apps you like and use them instead of Xiaomi's versions.
Secondly, you can install custom launchers if you don't like the MIUI skin.
Thirdly, you can just use a different ROM like Cyanogenmod if you really hate MIUI.

Not worth more then £185 - £190 Imho. Only 16GB you need to fork out another £20 for memory.
For £40 might as well get the Oneplus 2 as you'll get a more powerful processor, 1GB ram more, and 48GB more internal memory.
Saying that 230 is the most I would pay for Oneplus 2, as the version 3 is coming out this month...

​I've had 3 cases the best one I found is a clear TPU case from Amazon made by Profer.
The cases were on a price glitch a few months ago so I got it free but it is worth paying for.

Good phone but not better than my CM13'd 3y/o LG G2. Seriously considering it though as a 1st Android entry for my old-time Lumia loyalist GF.

I would recommend it for anyone who want's a premium phone without rbeaking the bank and that doesn't mind not using Android Pay (no NFC).

Yeah, I've got an Honor 6+ and these restrictions are the same, and a pain in the rear. Also Smart Lock is gimped - you can't unlock by location, and unlock by device doesn't work properly. I ended up paying for a third party app.

I've had hugely mixed experiences with Honor (Huawei) support. Power button died on my Honor 6 Plus. Called support and they sent a courier with a new phone and took away the old one.

Few months later I broke the screen glass. Huawei support say to take it to a Carphone Warehouse service centre. Took it to the Oxford Street one and they had no idea what the device was and couldn't get any parts on their system. Called Huawei and they said call SBE. SBE quoted £100+ for screen replacement, and said just send it in a jiffy bag. I read the customer reviews on Google and decided against it. Ended up buying a replacement screen on Ebay for £40, and getting someone local to fit it for £35. Specs on the phone are excellent, and the cameras in particular are amazing (this dual camera thing Huawei are pimping for the P9 - Honor 6+ had it already). But I'd think twice before getting another Honor (or a Huawei for that matter).

EMUI is a pain in the **** as well.

Simply not true, as pointed out already here, you can change the default apps, I have actually installed a Global ROM on my mi5, which removes all the Chinese apps and even the theme store is in English on it, Personally I like MIUI7, it took a littler while to figure out some of the shortcuts, but a lot of the shortcuts are a lot nicer and faster than stock android.

I am wondering if you actually tried running a launcher on your Xiaomi phone. Custom launchers do not work properly on my Mi4c. I tried Nova and Apex launchers but the dialing pad does not work when the launchers are running. This is done by Xiaomi as I get a message saying "permission denied". This is just an example. There are many examples of these kind of restrictions on this phone.

As for ROMs, I never needed to install ROMs on my previous phone, a Nexus 4, and i didn't buy a phone to mess about with ROMs. Most people don't have to install ROMs to get their phone to work properly. Why do i have to? It's a load of rubbish expecting people to do that.

Malware and adware is also present on my phone. Never had a problem with other Chinese devices I've bought from China but always the complaints on the internet are about Xiaomi.

I had high hopes for this company but I will make a prediction that they will never be big in Europe or America. They can stay in China where expectations are lower.

In certain circumstances, yes I am sure. Try using a different dialing pad app for example. You can use one but Xiaomi harass you with messages every time you try calling someone. No such messages come up when you use their own dialing app. That's just one example of Xiaomi being idiots. There are many other examples.

i'm thinking of getting this are you able to check if zen ui launcher works with it, i dont think it will as didnt work wiht p8 lite but worth asking.

is this much better than the honor 5x? I can find both second hand locally
honor 7 is £30 more phone and charger only, the honor 5x comes with box and accessories.
not sure which to go for.
