This is quite possibly one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever read on HUKD.
Do you vote cold on foreign holiday deals?
Do you vote cold on every car not built in the UK, along with parts entirely made in the UK?
Do you vote cold on every mobile phone deal, given that almost all chip fabrication happens outside of the UK?
Do you vote cold on all console deals, given they are all made outside of the UK?
If you're talking about tax, then this deal is under the threshold set by the UK government. If you feel that bad though, you can always pay more tax than you legally need to directly to HMRC.
You also say that "deals that are benefitting none UK buyers", like UK buyers are not getting a benefit of a cheaper product

Why is it that only people who think they know everything get to reply to people here?
Everyone is free to comment with an account :smirk:
Have I ever said I'm against made in China items?
No you haven't.
This has nothing to do with being racist, nationalist or whatever
Nobody said you were being racist, nationalist or whatever.
in fact for your information I have a company in China, I lived in China and I still import from China
...it's at this point where your argument and opinion just collapses in on itself.
but to see people ignoring the fact that businesses in this country still need to make money and being outsold by the same Chinese sellers who perhaps even sold to retailers in UK is not correct
...says the one who imports and owns a Chinese company.
I rest my case.

Then you'd be wrong and may as well just not even buy anything and move to the woods and become a full-time spoon whittler. The majority of things you buy are made and bought from China or other foreign countries.

Says cowhide. The length is 15" so it may fit a 15.6" laptop as that's the *diagonal screen size*. Just measure the length of your laptop and add an inch for good measure.

No, they don't. They use their own alternative payment protection process. Allegedly, eBay didn't like the idea of PayPal working with a rival online marketplace. Don't know how much truth there is to that.
But I've ordered from AliExpress before. Had no issues.

Why is it that only people who think they know everything get to reply to people here? Have I ever said I'm against made in China items? I said I don't give my money to retailers outside the country, rather give it to the sellers in here, though it's most likely came from outside U.K. But they will feed themselves with my money and they're to me have the priority not people outside the country.
This has nothing to do with being racist, nationalist or whatever in fact for your information I have a company in China, I lived in China and I still import from China but to see people ignoring the fact that businesses in this country still need to make money and being outsold by the same Chinese sellers who perhaps even sold to retailers in UK is not correct

You'd have to be MAD to buy a leather case for a laptop.
Leather weighs a ton and offers virtually no cushioning.
Idiots.
JK847
17 May 16#43
To be fair a car, computer, phone etc. may have a lot of China-fabricated components, but that's not where the profit from your sale ends up. A laptop's raw components make up a relatively small amount of the price tag, even moreso if you consider that many components themselves are branded e.g. a large amount of the cost attributed to the processor would go to Intel rather than whichever factory is being paid pennies to make them. If you buy it from a shop, a large amount of the money you pay goes to the retailer, the landlord, at least some to the staff (more if it operates on commission e.g. for cars), etc. Even if you buy it from Amazon (regardless of what may be happening tax-wise), there's warehouses and staff, couriers, advertising etc.
If you buy a no-name made-in-China product from a Chinese website, it's 100% guaranteed that none of your money is staying here or in the EU, perhaps not even tax if it doesn't get tagged for VAT.
Of course it's extreme and damaging to the community to vote cold just based on that, but assuming prices are more or less the same, I'd prefer to buy in a way that at least some of the flow stays a little closer to home.

17 May 161#44

On the flip side of the coin, a lot of these "cheap" goods come from over seas and we are all worried about the UK losing out on revenue - however have we ever stopped to wonder why the UK doesn't have the skills to produce the same goods?
Why do microchips come from overseas? Leather goods? Wood craft? Metal craft?
At one point the UK had master craftsmen from shipbuilding to clockmakers, clothing, leather and even computers. Very slowly however we have lost these skills.
I think the UK is dumbing down and losing its ability to teach young kids how to create and craft goods and in the long term we will lose more ground to these despised foreigners who seem to be able to produce things and the UK will just end up becoming a nation of consumers.
Education is the key here. The UK needs to up skill and create enough (not just a handful of artisans) that there should be no reason for any one of us to consider no brand items from China or wherever.
