I've had this watch for 3 months now so here's some real feedback.

HRM - normally very accurate unless you haven't put the watch on tightly enough. The monitor itself on the wrist is hardly noticeable once you've worn it a few times.

GPS accuracy. Coming from a Suunto Ambit 2, it's never going to be as accurate, however on normal runs with some foliage it's very good. Brighton marathon came out as 26.34 miles - not bad if you cannot run the racing line. GPS pickup is between 8-20 secs, faster side if it's picked up in your location before.

Information wise, it gives you everything you need with the associated connect software - the only thing missing is ability to highlight specific parts of a run to analyse speed etc.

Bluetooth connection to your phone works well though I've never used it as a smart watch.

Battery lasts relatively long - 45 miles in a week and a few extra days easily (that's wearing it 24/7 for the HRM).

I will replace this watch, but only when Suunto bring out an integrated HRM version.

Final comment: I had a tomtom spark/runner 2 for a month prior to this during marathon training - please don't buy one as compared to this they are appealing for GPS. Flat, open Parkrun (3.1m) would alway come out at 2.9 miles at 7.35 min/mile even though the time was around 21:15 mins

Gutted missed this post , have been waiting for the Garmin Vivosmart HR+ to release which is the exact same as the HR but now comes with built in GPS. I would have got this over that though ,mainly because it looks more like a traditional watch opposed to the band's.

​They've updated the firmware a lot (especially when compared to the Garmin policy of almost never) so I guess whatever the issue was it's been fixed. Or I'm just a very lucky faster runner. That said, I wouldn't buy the TomTom again, the interface is far too simplistic and restricting compared to other watches.

I had three different watches as the shop wouldn't refund initially but after no 3 the shop were in agreement that is was not fit for purpose and refunded me.
However it seems to be a trend for faster runners, especially at around 7min/miles and below

I can't wear a chest strap so no I wouldn't but the 2S is a brilliant bit of kit for that price

has anyone had theirs despatched yet?

For all the shortcomings of the latest TomTom, in nearly 6 months of frequent use I have never had GPS problems like that. I'd suggest yours was faulty.

230 price comes at 157.25..maybe price went up?

The vivoactive HR has been as low as this and has more features but less running detail.

So would you get the Suunto Ambit 2 S, with HRM instead - is it better...currently half price at Wiggle at £162.50 ?

Looks like I may have bought just in time! Been on the fence to replace my old forerunner which has been on its last legs a while now. Also bagged some discounted airbeds and waterproofs. Great find!

Awesome watch. Had for 6 months. Battery doesn't last as long as my forerunner XT310 but its lightweight, chock full of functions and mega lightweight. If you set it up right with a good watch face and some good apps it's a heck of a smart watch. Links up well with iPhone. This is a very good price.

I got this in December and agree with davilown's findings. I've used it for runs as well as hiking trips. It's not made for hikes but there is a good app you can download that caters towards it.

I took it on a 9 day hike in the himalayas and found the battery to last about 10-12 hours with GPS and heart rate on the whole time. The distance recorded seems pretty accurate but the altitude calculated on the watch (on the hike app) is inaccurate as it uses GPS data only (no barometric sensor). However this watch is not made for this and when you upload you activity into the garmin website it give you altitude data using your GPS data and external altitude data. Thus when looking at it on the phone the altitude is inaccurate but on the website it's broadly accurate.

If you want proper altitude data in the watch then need one with a barometric season eg suunto ambit 3 peak or garmin fenix 3.

As for the HR sensor. It seems pretty accurate, however it completly depended on how good contact it has on your wrist. Thus if your doing an activity where these is lots of wrist movement (no jokes please!) such as cross fit the sensor will intermittently loose contact and you'll loose HR data. It's also depended on blood flow to the skin, thus on cold days it took a minute or so to start showing accurate data while I warmed up and blood flow to the skin increased. I don't need it to be deadly accurate and just want it to give me a good ballpark recording for a run and thus it doesn't bother me if there is an occasional drop out. For those that need accurate reliable data then you'll still need a chest strap.

Its also worth noting that this watch supports GLONASS and so you can get more accurate positional data by using GPS and GLONASS. I think it does impact battery life but I've found the GPS accurate enough and thus not had the need to turn it on.

Does this only track running? Or can it track other sports like cycling and swimming like the vivoactive. I couldn't seem to find any info on it, thanks in advance.

Had mine for approx 2 months. A brilliant watch with A great battery. I run approx 30 miles a week with mine and wear every day. I charge it once a week. Display not the brightest but it the battery lasts longer so I deal with that. I chose black and it looks classy. Great price.

I've had the 230 for a week now, it's a brilliant watch. Most people I spoke to have said that the wrist based HRM isn't very accurate, so if you are going to be using that function a lot, it may be worth getting the 230 and buying the separate HRM. Still cheap if you do it this way! Great price OP!!

Good price. However, the little knuckle on the underside, which houses the HRM optics, is not terribly comfortable. Further, the HRM data it supplies can be a bit sketchy, much as it's interesting to have constant monitoring.

230 and 235 are effectively the same watch, except the 235 has the integrated heart rate monitor and the 230 does not.
The 230 can be bought using the same deal, which comes out at £136

I paid £20 more for the 230 without a HRM and it's a brilliant watch. Highly recommended.

Reviews Amazon 3.5/5 ( 53 Reviews) not great. Although unsure of difference between this & 230 £191 which has 4.6/5 ( 16 Reviews).
