Based on the deal post previously where the Edge 25 was listed at £79.99 I looked to see if it was still available. On the ALDI website it is listed as an in-store only deal. It was still £10 cheaper than anywhere on-line.
I went to the Luton store today where they had plenty in stock. The store display for this was marked up at £79.99.
When I got to the checkout it scanned at £59.99. I've no idea if this is a national deal, but assuming it as the store hadn't marked the price down.

This is my first posting, so hopefully have done this correct.

Hot!! Really good price, but doesn't bode well for Garmin if they are forced to flog these off cheaply to Aldi!

I've read quite a few reviews, and it seems you need to turn off the Bluetooth live tracking to get around 8 hours out of it.

why would you want this when you can have strava for free. Can anyone can tell me the benefits of this over strava

I didn't want to have my iPhone mounted to the handlebars of my bike. I was worried it wouldn't be secure or would be damaged if i fell off the bike. On top of that having the screen on the phone active for long periods would kill the battery.
So I'd started looking at the entry level bike GPS devices. The Edge 25, Lezyne Mini (£72) and Polar M450 (£106). At this price point they all have pro's and con's. But seeing the Edge 25 at this lower price made me feel it was worth a try, even if the battery life may not get to 8 hours with Bluetooth live tracking enabled.

It syncs to Strava. For me it means I don't drain my phone on a long 4-6 hour ride but can see how I am getting on. Can also upload a route on advance and follow directions on it (pretty basic admittedly)

Thanks! Phoned ahead at Swansea Samlet Road store, "10 in stock". Couldn't see any on the shelf in store so spoke to a manager and she retrieved one from the back. She said she didn't know where they got 10 from on the phone because there were only 2 but sure enough it scanned at 59.99 and the till.

I've got one of these and I can't fault it at all. Basic but just what I need for around 10 - 15 hours a week cycling. Great to connect to Strava gives me all the data I need.

Strava doesn't seem to use much battery power, over a 45 minute ride (and with music playing), my phone only lost 2% of its battery power. Just put the phone in your pocket and use a simple cycle computer for £15 or less just to give you av speed and basic stuff. It's a faff uploading your ride from the Garmi to Strava too.

No, it isn't. It's automatic, in fact. It's a two minute job to link the two accounts and then it happens instantly thereafter.

This is a dedicated cycling computer. The GPS will better and I'd rather not have a £400 smartphone hanging off my bars when I hit a pothole or do a downhill run on my MTB.

My Garmin automatically uploads my ride to Strava before I've even put my bike away. People like to read the information off a Garmin whilst riding their bikes. I can monitor power, cadence HR, elevation, av sp. weather, favourite strava segments etc etc. Pulling a phone out of your pocket mid-ride is dangerous.

I don't think this particular Garmin does though, does it? Or many of the more useful things like route guidance, navigation etc?

I love this toy. Easy to use too. Mine has been fine on Glonas/GPS for 4 hours with around 50% battery left with Bluetooth pairing on my iPhone.
I tried using my iPhone as a standalone cycle computer but the power drain on mobiles makes it useless.
I've also used this with the breadcrumb trail in reverse and its been great.

This unit does support Bluetooth which includes automatically uploading ride details, livetracking and showing incoming calls/texts, the cheaper Edge 20 does not support BT though. The edge 25 does support navigation as well giving turn by turn on a preloaded route although not something I'd want to do such a small screen.

Nice to map a course online and transfer it by mobile or computer to the Garmin.

The mount has rubber bands and this GPS twists on with a simple click.
To stop wear and tear, I bought 2 cheap Garmin cycle mounts (Chinese copy) £7.
If you watch a YouTube video review or the Garmin showcase video, it'll give you an idea of what comes with it and then check Amazon for mounts.
I'm not paying £15 for an original Garmin plastic lol.
