If you want to get away from the UK at Christmas check out this lovely 5 night break to NYC from 23rd to 28th December. Flights are with Aer Lingus and have a short stop in Dublin but what I like is that some of the flights have 7 hrs in Dublin (some do not) so you can go and explore the xmas markets. Luggage is included which is a bonus unlike the Norweigan flights from London so no worries about stocking up on sale items in NY!
Hotel wise, there are some cheaper options but this is a great bargain. The Yotel, 4* including your breakfast and right in Times Square, you can't get any better than that!
Flights £715 for 2 book at Aer Lingus (2% quidco)
Hotel £533.53 use 12% code on HUKD to get this price.
Total £1248.53/£624.26pp

Where did you book the air lingus flights? Whenever I look they start at £450 each! Found some cheap hotels though

I did new york over Christmas last year, if you havent done this before please take note. . . christmas eve onwards, in new york itself gets un believably crowded, i mean it is ridiculous. ive been peak summer before now and it has been fine.
we found ourselves having to go a good 2 or 3 blocks out just to try and get anywhere. Trying to get into places to eat was difficult, luckily we had a reservation for christmas dinner. My advise would be to go on the week running upto christmas.
on another note, i got the same dates last year a lot cheaper.
I have had a 15% code through for Venere which is VENMAY1516
May help someone.

These flights are great! Just trying to find a friend who's willing to give up their family Christmas to come with!

How would this be for a first-timer in NY? Looking at the dates I'm wandering how much of NY would be closed for the holidays 24/25/26 particularly. Does any one have experience of this?

I think it would be amazing! I really don't think you will have a problem finding things open and things to do. If you are heading to a restaurant on Christmas eve then I would certainly book well in advance, same for Christmas day. I'm sure there will be plenty of things open still on Christmas day and most certainly 26th.

The code for the app doesn't work unfortuantely. The T&Cs are for earlier in the year - didn't note the exact dates sorry.
Thanks for the deal, just used it as a guide and booked:
Flights £865
Hotel £640
= c.£725pp
23rd December to 29th December (extra night stay to your deal) and return flights to/from Gatwick... was slightly cheaper to go from Heathrow return Gatwick but no good for my car!

For two adults and two children I would change the hotel for something like this £500.14 in the Chinatown area. The hotel in the deal here is almost double this one is great value instead.
