These are cheap for a reason. like any tool you pay for what you get.
If your going to attempt to lay bricks buy "Marshall Town USA" the only trowel bricklayers use and will make your life a world easier (im a time served bricklayer). Its like comparing an argos own drill to a bosch, they dont compare.
If your just gonna use them to clean crap out of the drains, then they an absoloute bargain.

I have a single Marshal Town that gets used for every trowelling/gardening job. They are amazing quality- doesn't bend, doesn't rust, doesn't wear down, handle is super comfy. Costs nearly triple this set for one, but well worth the price.

It's get what you pay for actually.
To be fair you are trying to compare two brands that are completely different in terms of quality' branding but more importantly cost
This is a deals site and this is a deal for those that don't want to fork out a lot of money for whatever it might be they are wanting to do with the deal.
Being a time served brickie then yes obviously your Marshall brand may be the way to go for continued all day' every day use' but I think you'll find the majority of people on here aren't bricklayers though and these will be fit for there purpose at a very good price for the set.

I think you are right Pennyfarthing, Screwfix sell Marshalltown tools as well, such as this brick trowel for just £39.99: http://www.screwfix.com/p/marshalltown-brick-trowel-12/56734
The Marshalltown items are undoubtedly better, but I know several jobbing builders that use cheap trowels such as the Forge Steel ones on offer here because they get tired of replacing the more expensive ones when they are frequently stolen. For domestic use, and for tradesmen who might occasionally repair or re-point some brickwork it would make no sense to spend 10 times as much on Marshalltown (or similar quality) tools when these three trowels at £7.49 would be perfectly adequate.

I wasn't saying there not cheap, and these would be more than adequate for many non bricklaying jobs,
I am just trying to help anyone who's thinking of having a go at laying bricks themselves. If your gonna build a garden wall or a new BBQ your gonna do a much better job with a decent trowel and the few extra quid spent will save you hundreds that you end up paying a builder to sort it out.
