Qater Airways to Hong Kong only £325 (Depends where you depart in UK). Qater is a quality airline, if your connection is over 8 hours long they will provde free quality hotel, this gives you a chance to explore Doha.

We paid £397 for EDI-BKK via AUH with Etihad. Good flight times and not too long a layover. Also luggage was 30kg not 23kg. Lastly be aware on promo fares you can't bid to upgrade.

And how extensive is your experience of flying with them?
Etihad are rated in the top 5 airlines and the majority view from the FT forum is they offer a very good service on the plane.

Now there's a statement you don't hear very often. The general view is that they are sh*t on the ground and brilliant once you get on board the aircraft.
I flew with them last year to Singapore and they were fine. Also stole a ticket in their recent half price J sale.
The biggest problem is that there are so many good deals around it's difficult to decide where to go.

You will find the middle eastern airlines reducing their fares as most people do not travel from the middle east during the month of Ramadan with exception to Saudi Arabia

No but transfers are short, only airlines that offer direct flights are BA, Cathay Pacific & Virgin Atlantic from UK. Just got back via MAN-HKG this March with Cathay Pacific.

Etihad have some great deals at the moment for the rest of the year, about a week ago I snagged a return in November for Manchester to Kathmandu for £315 and Manchester to Phuket in December for £415 I always fly with Etihad due to their customer service and these are the lowest prices I have paid in many years.

If you can, fly the 777 9 abreast. BA have the 777-300ER, Singapore have theirs and several other airlines too. I think Qatar possibly may be one despite their 787s being rammed.

Qatar's new 77Ws are 10 abreast. I know this because I recently did AMS-DOH in one.

I flew the Etihad A380 in economy and it was torture. No legroom and seats so narrow, there's nowhere to put your elbows. I wouldn't fly with them again out of choice.
Skymonkey to patg2005

You just mean the 777s. It's not possible to run 10 abreast on a 330 or 340.

Give Qatar a miss if you have a long leg on a 787 Dreamliner. Designed for 8 abreast, Qatar (along with most other airlines) have packed in 9 abreast and it is brutal. Qatar fly so many 787s that your chances of getting one is high. I did overnight DOH-CPT and JNB-DOH in economy on a Qatar 787 - never again!
