Not really... The HR is atrocious on fitbit devices, hence the class action lawsuit being brought against them in the US. These are perfectly good for measuring your activity levels, and competing against others using the fitbit platform.

I have one of these and they are a good motivator and good for keeping track of steps. However I have personally found it is undercounting the distance covered - might just be a setting I can change. I cant find a way for Fitbit to display your best performances either (such as fastest mile in a workout etc). Good for beginners though.

They are the most accurate for step count but not 100% accurate. However, do they have to be 100%? No they don't. All they have to be is consistent. But take my advice and get the Charge HR. It's worth every penny and probably the best Fitbit model, I also have a Surge but use the Charge HR 95% of the time.

I have one these too. worked well and has HR too. I paid £14 about 3-4 months ago. problem now is I upgraded my phone (s7 edge) a few weeks ago and the Mi band will not pair at all. I emailed Xaomi and never had a reply. Seems a common issue looking on tinterweb. In the end i bought a Charge HR for £80 from sainsburys (still on offer) and it's worked like a charm.

Twoddle, how can they be DANGEROUSLY inaccurate? I've tried several similar devices and for step count and HR they are the best of their type. If you want 100% accurate HR then you need a chest band but the Charge HR and Surge come very close to 100% accuracy and to be honest they don't need to be 100% accurate unless you have a medical condition.

The HR is an indication, It should not be taken as accurate because of the way it works.
Class Action is in the US. Lets not forget, someone Sued a Car Company for crashing after putting on cruise control & the car did not steer.

That really is quite laughable. The whole point of an electronic HR monitor is accuracy, otherwise you may as well estimate your own HR with the finger on wrist technique.

re the HR function. I've found it to be pretty accurate when doing normal everyday stuff. resting heart rate is bang on. exercise is not so accurate I reckon.

I had one of these. Was good for what it did but every 2 months I had to contact fitbit to get a replacement (all free & just told me to bin the old one) due to the casing peeling off. Seems a very regular occurrence, especially with they no quibble replacement. Sold a new replacement on (same thing happened) as I couldnt rely on it lasting 3 months never mind 12 months.

I now have an original Microsoft band & it's superb! Yes similar thing happened but only after 6 months & replacement has shown no signs of any issues

We (wife and I) have had Charge HRs for over 12 month with constant use and no such problems. You must be very rough with your Fitbits. OK, they are not perfect but they have this market by the throat even in the face of competition from the likes of Microsoft. They must be doing something right.

Surely if you want to assure your heart Rate accurately then wear a chest strap if you don't then wrist measurement is OK. Do these work with chest straps?

Seconded on the hr, I've found it consistently underestimates my training hr but reads pretty much the same as my chestband on resting. I've also found it inaccurate on distance covered. I did a 14 mile run the other week, the charge only had me as doing 11 miles all day, that's the run plus whatever else I did during the day. But they are good for motivation.

I don't work for Fitbit or anything but my experience of their products is very positive (not perfect) but very good. As I stated earlier I thing their best product is the Charge HR but if you do a lot of running or cycling then the Surge is the I be for you.
