***Expired now*** Decent little dash-cam, at a good price. Bonus of GPS and a decent brand.
Amazon selling for £99 - but this is sold by Hitec Dis and fulfilled by Amazon. Not sure how many they have left - probably only a few?

You have trust issues with your daughter. Presumably you spy on her in other ways? Track her phone to see where she's going? Hidden cameras in her bedroom to check she isn't taking drugs? Why give her the car if you have zero faith in her?

Thanks.
Bought one, but undecided whether to put this at the back of the car and leave my Drivepro 200 in the front or swap then round.
The Drivepro is very good at night and day, but I've heard this one is not so good at night although it's smaller so should be hidden a little better.

Have decided to cancel my order as looking on the Internet at reviews etc it's not that good at night and looks nearly as big as my Drivepro 200 (which I take out at night).
Going to wait for something more discrete and better quality for the front (don't know if they will be doing 4k dashcams in the future for a decent price).

Wouldn't bother with the GPS to be honest. Mobius Action Camera is the way to go, excellent footage at night and the size of a matchbox. About the same price.

Yes I have just ordered one from banggood for my car - BMW forum peeps love them, but purchased this for my daughters car.
She is a new driver and as part of the "I will be a nice dad and buy you a car" contract I insisted on fitting a dash-cam with GPS for a bit of security and for my own investigation if I suspect any driving silliness.
Will keep her honest for a while if she suspects I might review her driving style at any moment and steal her keys away
For £49 (the mobius is around the same price as you say) you get a screen, GPS and no interference with DAB radio, which the Mobius is notorious for.

I guess the Mobius is much smaller, the screens on dash cameras are pretty useless as they are such low quality the first thing you do is upload to PC, The Mobius is just so small (no screen) and are so easy to tuck away that Simon Smackhead wont be able to spot it when your car is parked up. You see these morons with wires hanging down and plugged into something bigger than a 1980's VHS recorder. The whole idea of a dash cam is to offer protection in the event of a claim and be non-intrusive in the process.
Good Dads always buy their kids a dash cam. She knows that Daddy can view her driving at any point and any sillyness leads to no car. I LOVE IT! Dash cams should be built in to modern cars along with black box recorders. Insurance claims and fraud would nose dive. I wouldn't have GPS personally as you doing 33mph in a 30 zone and having an accident will see the other drivers legal team have a field day!

This looks like a polished up version of the cheap generic Chinese cams you can get for £14 (obviously without GPS) The Mobius would be the camera to get as its so unobtrusive and you're able to swap lenses and even get remote image sensor/lens modules. Replacing the LiPo battery with a super capacitor you'll get years use out of it.

GPS data wouldn't be relied upon in a court, lack of calibration.

29 May 16#8
EH? and just who told you that golden nugget of information? GPS is about as calibrated to the atomic clock as you're going to get. Anything that shows you were over the speed limit will have a significant impact on your compensation claim in the event of injury, laying of blame and so on etc. If I was giving it to a young driver then YES damn right I would have GPS to make sure they knew it was there and ready for viewing. Personally no thanks EVER!

Being over the speed limit will not have a significant impact on your compensation claim. Only on rare occasions will it have an impact and if it does it's in those rare occasions that you deserve it. Speed in itself is not an act of negligence.

Better off just using your iPhone and sticking it to the windscreen whilst driving. Cheap and good resolution. And has GPS too..
I'll get me coat..

Way too much of a faff everytime. These dashcams record automatically and let you drive without needing to do a thing. They recycle saved video files (old ones get overwritten), so again you don't need to do anything or waste data space.
I recommend the Autovox B40 wedge cam, it's pretty much hidden but you still have a screen to see what you're recording, plus it's pretty top spec dash cam.

I prefer that drivers in front know I have a dash cam. Mine has gps but is stored as a separate file so I can use or discard if it helps my case, or not. I'm not worried about leaving it in my car, I don't live in a [email protected] area

There's a cap:
Item No: 152092412652 on ebay
Lens extension cable:
Item No: 141913579882 on ebay
Just search for them on ebay as links for me aren't working.
You can get different lenses but the one supplied should be fine for use as a Dashcam

Mobius has been known to interfere with DAB radio signals sometimes though, so remember that if you have DAB.

Yup noticed that myself, links don't seem to be working at all for me so I've removed them.
Funny, I looked on Banggood for the Mobius stuff but found nothing, it does help if you actually spell Mobius correcty ha.

get a thinkware 750 if you want a full featured camera that doesn't affect dab. I've tried loads of cameras from blackvue, winycam but thry all affect dab

This A118 wedge camera looks like exactly what I'm after, but I need one which has its own rechargeable power supply that will last up to, say, 2 hours. From what I gather, that rules out the capacitor version. I presume there is at least one battery version, and if so how long will the battery last? Alternatively (and not an ideal solution), is it possible to power it from, say, a USB power bank?
Thanks,

The capacitor version might be safer in "hot" conditions (which may not be encountered in the UK anyways). The battery version won't hold the charge for more than 10 min, I am almost sure. You could hardwire the camera to your car battery if the switching engine off cuts of your 12V power supply. This should run from a portable battery (but could be a fire risk) as I was able to run the camera from a laptop usb port You do get 2 types of USB cables with this, one for car socket and another for laptop/portable chargers.

OK, thanks. The reason I was asking is because I'm looking for a camera that I can use to video my squash games when I play, and this A118 with its wide-angle lens sounded ideal. The trouble is there wouldn't be any power supply in the vicinity. So, from what you have said I should be able to use the capacitor version with a decent USB power bank? Does it say on it what power it requires via USB?
