Great price for a basic phone, but personally I wouldn't use a phone as an mp3 player for such a young child-SAR is more damaging to growing tissues and organs and long term studies are still obviously unavailable. Call me crazy, but better to be safe...

For clarification, if you get this phone for £4.99 using fast-track, it will NOT come with £10 credit.
There's just a yellow sticker on the SIM card which says your first £10 top-up will automatically be used to purchase the £10 monthly bundle.

Did you actually read it? It's absolute trash. It's written with the bias and quality of a Daily Mail article. More importantly, it contains absolutely no original research whatsoever; it's just a collection of cherry-picked references to other, previous research. For all intents and purposes, it's a formally-written blog post.
Not that I would expect anything better from the "Saudi Society of Microscopes", in a self-published article to their own journal.
This is why hypochondriacs exist.

It's a basic open access literature review from a peer reviewed journal - it matters not which country it comes from. Most scientific journal articles won't be accessible to all, as they are not open access, but subscription only.
In my opinion people should be aware of the dangers before they choose to fry their child's brain/tissues/organs, giving gifts to be "nice". Who knows how many people will be dying of SAR related tumours in x years time. Like I said, call me crazy but I think it's - better to be safe...

...right, just to answer my own question I've done some research on the phone's music playing capabilities. It uses Nokia's Series 30+ OS, same as the Nokia 108, 220 and 225. Apparently you only get one long list of your mp3 files, and there is no way to organise them by folder. Shuffle is possible though.

Hi I'm thinking of buying one of these. I have just received a Freedompop sim for free 200mins a month, and want to use it to listen in to my new dog whilst I'm out, just for the next couple of weeks whilst she settles. Can anyone who has collected this phone confirm that it is locked to EE? I believe Freedompop use the Three network, so would this not work on the phone?

Can confirm the phone does not come with a £10 voucher or pre-loaded sim card inside the box - however I was able to buy the phone for £5 via fast track which is what I wanted.
They say the process takes up to 10 days, but, realistically, you should allow 3/4 weeks.
As per usual in any dealings with EE, they display mind-boggling inefficiency.
(If you query it, they'll claim the delay is out of their control because they have to wait on Nokia for the code!)

Got mine yesterday. At this price, fine for text and talk. BUT before you pay in the £10 credit or before you use it for any calls or texts, make sure you want the specific "Talk and Text Pack" offered. If you are not planning on using it much for outgoing calls or texts, change the account to simple PAYG (although the charges are quite high. If you use your £10 for just one call or text you will find you are locked in for 30 days, after which you lose any balance remaining. NOTE also that this is not the dual SIM version. The Bluetooth seems rubbish (it won't link with my satnav). Not very impressed by the EE website, but phone helpline was excellent. For me the phone is doing what I wanted at a price I am happy with.

bertiebasset
6 May 16#85
No, you can do it any time, as long as you have sufficient credit loaded and have registered.
i'd suggest the cheapest way of doing it is to buy the phone on fast-track without the top-up, then pick up one of the many deals often advertised here of a SIM pre-loaded with £5 credit, for a quid.
Then ring them (freephone 0800 079 8586) and they'll let you make up the £4 difference by credit or debit card over the phone.
Total unlocking charge = £5!
I'd strongly recommend giving them a buzz again (maybe try sales dept, which is usually UK or Ireland based, and fairly promptly answered!) after a couple of weeks (assuming you won't yet have received your email with the code) to give them a nudge, otherwise your request might easily disappear off their radar.
They really are terribly inefficient.

To get standard PAYG just give them a ring on 150, but do not make any calls or texts until you have made the change. There is no need for the phone to be "unlocked" in order to change (assuming you stay with EE). Note that standard EE call charges on PAYG without a " pack" are quite high. Good luck.
