​yeah brake cleaner kills lubrication. i remember trying to use it years ago to make the brakes on my bicycle work more smoothly and it just caused the cable to seize up. i thought u could use it like an oil. learnt that lesson the hard way.

A big no no no to starting engines on brake cleaner ! Only acceptable if completely stranded and that's the last resort. Brake cleaner ( although it does a great job at starting engines ) is a degreaser so strips a cylinder of lube, long term use and this can wear out cylinder bores and piston rings then the engine is "addicted" to brake cleaner and will only start on it as its compression is now low.

I usually buy brake cleaner and that does the same job. Helps start the quad after its been sitting in the garage for a while

I can't live without knowing, it's no good saying spray this on an engine and it will start, I want to know why!
