dont they take ages to cook chips?

Does anyone have any personal experience comparing this to the Tefal actifry?? my actifry paddle broke and im having a hell of a time getting a replacement paddle its its an obscure early model part (had 6 from amazon and none fit correctly)

Would just bite the bullet and buy this to replace if its comparable?

I've read the reviews on Argos and Amazon - divided almost equally as the best and the worst air fryer - so no idea what to surmise.
Clearly some people haven't been using it properly.
I think that chips will take 25-30 minutes - not 40 minutes, or an hour - as long as you use both radiant and convection heating - but who really knows.
May take a punt and pick one up tonight - as I reckon that it would still do sausages ok, or maybe not :smiley:

Or you could save money and make chips from potatos, part cook them in a micro for a minute or so, place in baking tray and lightly spray with one cal and cook in a pre heated oven for 20 minutes :smirk:. But if you must go for one of these air fryers then I guess this one is a good deal :sunglasses:

Love the fact if you read the questions/comments on Argos, it says its 160cm x 210cm, thats over 5ft x 6ft. You could cook for the street!!!

We have this and an air fryer.

Airfryer is much better at, and much faster at, cooking most things. This is only better for things that must be mixed/stirred/turned when cooking, such as chicken in a marinade, or for soggy things. This (if the XL version?) has a larger cooking area than the standard air fryer.

If it can be air fried, we use the air-fryer. This rarely gets used tbh.

Don't even bother trying to make a cake or pizza in this.

This is quite a bit noisier than the airfryer. If an airfryer is like wind setting 1 on a hairdryer, this is as noisy as setting 2.5.

It mostly is (it has a heating element at the bottom also), but the Phillips circulates the hot air better as it has a mesh basket bottom, not a solid pan.

What are you looking to cook with it?

Ive had 2 actifrys in the past, this is much better built, and cooks just as well. Why they cant add a power off timer is beyond me though. Great deal. HOT!

I was one of the luck ones to get this gadget before the price/glitch got sorted. I tried it today to make home made chips from fresh potatoes and this is my honest opinion in case the offer comes up again. I know it is early days but the machine looks very well built. My chips was left for about 40 minutes as advised by DeLonghi. I found that you only need to leave it on for about 25-30 minutes. My potatoes were sprinkled with a bit of mixed spices. When done, the chips looked like the best tasty wedges ever. That was the best chips I've ever tasted. I bet people have mixed opinion on the product. If I had followed the review of one of the links in this thread, I would not have bought it but thank goodness I didn't. I can't wait to use it to make oil-less spiced chicken wings. Enough said.
