Yes the powering off when putting to sleep is clearly a fault but the lagginess certainly isn't. It's not that it lags as such but everything action feels like it's happening a couple of moments after you do it. For example typing very fast on the keyboard is impossible and the system will miss keypresses. That sort of thing makes the device unusable for me. Returned it and got a Lenovo Yoga Tab 2 instead.

As i said an oscilloscope for £22 , and its just been confirmed as delivered, very heavy, much bigger than this 10 inch tablet.
Xiaomi router in January £14, delivered , repaired and returned, no problems.
Iocean x7HD last June after i broke it, £8, delivered, repaired and returned.
plus
Over 20 mobile phones, had one with a speaker fault, returned and replaced , at least a dozen tablets , no faults , well over 10 grands worth of Quadcopters, FPV gear and 5 transmitters, not a single fault.
In fact i have had more problems with greedy ignorant knobs selling in the UK than i have had in years of using sites like Dealextreme, Banggood, Gearbest, Goodluckbuy, and Aliexpress, yes everyones experience can be wildly different and no not everyone is willing to wait to get something for a fraction of the cost of a UK retailer, thats the choice you make.

I bit the bullet and ordered this with £4.80 tracked cashback from Quidco. There are several good reviews of this tablet:
See comment #41, seems he/she purchased from ebay from a different seller for a different price and sounds like its faulty. A friend has this exact model and seems to find it perfectly usable, with no noticeable lag.

5 May 16#55
Parcelforce worldwide tracked is £52 odd for up to 1kg and their express service is more like £70.
Yes, you can use RM international tracked at approx. £20 but it is only tracked in the UK so Chinese companies can and do report they never received items sent that way. It may be goods often do go missing enroute if they aren't fully tracked or that they do arrive but are often overlooked but it still leaves you out of pocket as Paypal will require a fully tracked service before refunding you.

I received my tablet today and it's a travesty right out of the box.
It's made of cheap feeling materials as you would expect but that's fine.
The problem is with the software and the responsiveness of the touch screen.
Everything feels laggy and nothing is precise and it's basically frustrating to the point of being unusable.
On top of this, every time you switch off the screen / put the device to sleep it turns off completely and will only come back on after a hard reset. Utterly useless. Don't be tempted by this. Save your money.

3 May 161#50
Because £50~ seems to be the price to get something tracked all the way to China. Most of the cheaper options will track it until it leaves the UK, then it'll likely go missing at customs and you wouldn't know what's happened. There's also a lot of GearBest reviews that claim that GearBest said that they didn't receive the item back, even though tracking says that they did.
I've been in the same position as HUKD member Somebody and the rest. I bought an item from GearBests EU warehouse, so why should I pay to send it to China? You should return items to the country that they were sent from unless the seller is paying for you to ship it elsewhere.
PayPal doesn't protect you as GearBest will keep denying everything and offering pathetic amounts until the claim gets escalated. PayPal will then tell you that to get a full refund you need to send the item to China at your own expense, so you lose a lot of money either way.
At the end of the day this is HotUKDeals, not HotChinaDeals.

Why would it cost £50 to return a small screened tablet to mainland China ? ive just sent an oscilloscope which is bigger and heavier than this for £22 recorded, someones telling the usual exaggerated hokum about these evil Chinese sellers, magically these things seem to have amazing "accidents" that no one else can replicate, like magically becoming dead after 24hrs or some other such blameless excuse.
I have had a lot of orders with Gearbest, Banggood, Dealextreme etc and aside from sometimes having to wait 2-3 weeks for delivery or having to send it back to China for repair ( something that if you werent aware of is completely your fault for not researching properly) i have very little to complain about and a lot more money in my pocket for having bought a comparable item for much cheaper than a UK reseller.
Its a 56 quid tablet, buy with paypal and if you have any issues go through them, if it needs returning choose any recorded service and sit back and wait, otherwise buy from the UK.
Can you honestly recommend this company as trustworthy?

Do not trust Gearbest.
I was offered these options on a second replacement unsatisfactory item, having paid US$30 to have the replacement sent.
"After reviewing your case, please review our possible solutions:
1)Return the item back to us
You can return the item back to us in China as per our terms and conditions indicated in the link above.
Once we receive the item , we can exchange or offer a product refund( USDxxxx) back to your GB wallet. As long as the item does not exceed the 45 day money back guarantee limit.
2)Keep the item and accept a partial refund on Wallet (credit)
We can offer USD15 on your GB wallet and exceptionally reward you with extra points (e.g. If your item is 1USD = 5 points ,3USD=3*5 points => get 15 points etc) This amount can be used for your future orders
3)Resend a replacement (No return)
We can resend you a replacement but we kindly ask you cover partial cost of item and the shipping fee which is USD80. We will then arrange a shipment and send you an invoice if you choose this option.
Can you please let me know your decision? You may check the cost of returning item back to us in China before deciding.
I look forward to hearing from you.

I just took a punt on one from eBay for £65 new via best offer. Could be a safer option that from here if anyone else is interested.
I just picked up one of the second link cheap options, it seems to do the job fine but it's not exactly a good looking case (it's also grey and in no way black). Just like any consumer technology if you're careful with it, then it should last. I've never broken a phone screen but I know many work colleagues walking around with smashed screens and I really don't understand how people can manage to be so clumsy with their expensive devices.

I'll counter that, I got one for my partner for Christmas the W8 Z3736F version, still running fine without issues and they use it daily for playing games and browsing Facebook.
You take the chance to get a bargain at the end of the day, if you go in expecting warranty support then you haven't done enough research. However, when you consider that it's near impossible to find an equivalent tablet for 3 times the money from a European seller then you realise that these devices can be a good deal. Yes the plastic is crappy, the official case is cheap and tacky but it's a £50 tablet with a better than FHD screen and general specifications roughly equivalent to a £100 android tablet but has the option to use Windows too.

Hello, I have this tablet, I got it for a little more but from the EU warehouse on Gearbest. It is amazing. Both operating systems work like a dream. The screen is brilliant and sharp and extremely bright. Everyone comments on it. The only downside is the battery (even with the brightness turned down). I would say I get a max of 5 hours out of it. I used it for playing games, watching vids or reading books on my commute. I would recommend the tablet

2 May 16#4
There will be no import duties as its under 135, but there will be vat tax of 11 quid, I think you can avoid that too if you contact them and ask them to send it marked as a gift.
AndyRoyd to Bendown
2 May 162#8
In reality, if you're hit for the VAT, you'll also be hit with the delivery service's admin fee to collect the VAT. Assuming RM deliver, total charges would be VAT + £8 admin fee, so total £19.
the_bart123 to Bendown
2 May 16#15
small - but you need to buy jus one - if you buy more of them - then high risk
falfredo to Bendown
2 May 16#18
If you don't choose expedited shipping there's little chance of being caught for VAT. IIRC, marking as a gift makes no difference to VAT rules any more. Also note you'll have to pay an admin fee if you do get hit for VAT.
