Try the Aldi or Lidl versions - exactly the same high fruit content (50g per 100g) but 99p for 454g all the time - as against £1.50 for just 370g when it's on offer.
Every bit as good as Bonne Maman.

They have indeed. We always bought Bonne Maman until a few years back when we discovered that it was in reality no better than the Aldi and Lidl 'top of the range' conserves. Same fruit content, same excellent flavour, same large pieces of fruit.
I'm not talking about the two ordinary jams (Aldi sell a basic jam at 27p and a middling one at 65p) but the 99p one. The mid-range one is akin to Robertsons and most other 'branded' jams - it's OK, but it's not on a par with Bonne Maman. The 99p one (and it's for a full 454g, as against Bonne Maman's meagre 370g) certainly is, though.

Just been to Co-op, Killay, Swansea and they had Bonne Maman Plum and Bonne Maman Blackcurrant on clearance for £1.20. Looked like it was not store specific

I've tried Tesco Finest against Asda Extra Special strawberry jam/conserve side-by-side, both costing £1.50 all year round, and found the Asda ES to be far superior to the Tesco Finest. Obviously a lot of that is down to personal choice though.

Tesco Finest Conserve is the same price at £1.50 per jar, but has more fruit at 55g per 100g.

Interesting thing (to me perhaps) every product have had of bonne maman has been very high quality. And not always that expensive.

until you get sent some random jars of jam from back home and you wont buy any jam from a supermarket shelf again. bonne maman is actually good compared to others but still has absolutely nothing in common with real stuff

Sugar is sugar is sugar. Instead of using regular sugar, which is glucose and fructose joined together, they used a syrup which contains essentially the same things just in a slightly different ratio.
Most people only have a tablespoon at a time anyway so the form of sugar used isn't really important. Unless of course you find the taste and texture isn't as good.

Thank you. I'll try it next time I'm in Aldi, which admittedly isn't very often.

It's.....jam. :P
All jams have tonnes of sugar in, it's how they're made. The regs even state the sugar content have to be a minimum of 60%.

Have they got the large chunks of fruit in like Bonne Maman?

Sorry, but I really disagree. Lidl used to do a really good high fruit one, but seem to have discontinued it.
Their Bonne Maman copy has glucose-fructose syrup in, definitely not a quality jam....

I've never tried it, but I'll give it a shot at this price. I'll look a bit poncey, mind.
