I only wanted a couple of bags to top up my existing slate, wouldn't have recommended buying like this if you were after huge amounts but not all of us need a tonne or more ;-)
anyone bought these yet. wondering how much coverage per bag

Similar to the bags at Asda,
Just bought 30 bags from Asda @ 3 bags for £9.
Doesn't go far though, maybe 4 or 5 bags per m2.

You could probably get away with 3 bags per m2, but I wanted it heavy and to cover the membrane (£3.99 for 10m2 from Aldi or was it Lidl).
I used my car, so 6 bags max per visit. Asda is very near luckily, but a shame they wouldn't deliver!

works out at £150 per tonne so if you need a large area covering best buy a tonne from builders merchants last time I checked it was around £70 per tonne ish.

correction its £38 for half tonne and £52 per tonne at delivered by local builders merchants hope this helps, making this triple the price so cold from me.

dont go for the smaller rock chippings as it will just become a massive kitty litter for all the local cats
looking to replace my gravel for just this reason

We used Cotswold chipping for exactly this reason. The stones are bigger and heavier and not been used by cats yet, (although we also are using the cat repellent sensor thingy too)

Can buy Blue Slate and the Cotswold Stone from Homebase for £2.98 each. They are usually 3 for 10 in asda / tesco. Have never seen them instore at Home Bargains.

from my own experience the sonic cat repellers are a waste of time - at best they will temporarily scare cats but then the cats will get used to them & ignore them - many of them go faulty very quickly to as they are exposed to the elements
the other thing that worked last year was having a fox make its den at the back of my garden  - shame its not come back this year though

Good price cheapest I've seen this year
I paid slightly more at Morrisons 3 for £9, but it was easier to get to the car as my local Homebargains is in the middle of a pedestrian part of town

I'm lucky mine is one a retail park so if we get there early enough can park right outside the door, but it is definitely a major consideration when picking up things like this

Bloomin heck that`s a lot of manhandling and expensive as well, Phone a few local builders merchants cheaper and easier.
Things like this never spread as far as you think, so a little extra is better than less i think

Thanks! We were looking at this stuff in Wickes today. £6+ for 25kg. Just needed a few bags to cover over a pointless strip of soil on the driveway.

True, but they are out of stock on line and a quarter of the size of these bags, making them £4 for the same quantity.

Is the cat repellent sensory thingy working? If so, can you let me have details please because the b*ggers are using my garden as the local WC!!
