Us Brits think we have the upper hand over the Americans with spelling of English words e.g. colour / color. Davy named the metal Alumium, then changed his mind some years later and called it Aluminum (the American spelling) so whilst we think that Americans have b*stardised our langugage it's not always the case. So here's a case of a Brit discovering a metal eventually calling it Aluminum which the Americans use to this day and some other Brits say ooh no that needs to sound more Latin, we'll change it and then centuries later Brits can pretend they have the upper hand.
In the case of this deal Civilization is the correct spelling.

It's like St. Thomas apostrophe Hospital. Doesn't matter if it;s "right" or not, it's what they chose to call it.

Yes Civ V is a lot better and you can buy it cheap now with all the DLC. Cost me loads ages ago but I've had more enjoyment out of it

Prior to grammar Nazis like Collins, Webster, Mirriam at al, people spelt wohrds pretty much howeva they lyked. Shaksper couldn't even make his mind up on how to spel his own name. by the way Fall is an Engish word that Americhans continued to use. We adopted Autumn from the French a cople of centurees ago coz it sownds posher and stopped using Fall for the name of teh seeson.

Alot of the cause of this is the french invading and forcing their language on the good anglo saxons .... who invaded before and forced their language on the good celts. We could all be writing and speaking welsh !

What is correct? Languages evolve, while English spelling does not. So many English words are so far removed from the phonetics it's as if the letters don't mean anything.
Always wondered if the incidents of dyslexia is worse in English compared to the more phonetically spelled languages.

None of that really works once you know that Americans used to be able to spell English correctly before the 1800's.....But at least you put the effort in.

Can anyone recommend a game in the Civ style that has a better economy/population model than Civ? I really hate that players can 'buy' tiles in Civ with gold coins (who are we supposed to be buying them from?) and that a gold mine doesn't increase your gold coin supply directly. Also dislike that you can buy units. Where exactly do those troops/vehicles come from? Surely if I create a massive army I'd be pulling people out of the fields and factories.
