The majority of Asda's beers are 4 for £5 and have been for ages, and they generally have local breweries too, so this isn't anything special imho.

Would be good in Scotland - we don't get bulk buy discounts on booze thanks to Fat Eck and his fishy friends.

They're different beers from the usual standard range though.
I got the Wadworth 6X Amber Ale which ive never seen in Aldi before. They were on a special rack too, not with the usual alcohol.

Yep, i usually get mine from Asda too (although now they've taken 'King Goblin' ale off the offer i'm not as impressed!). Just thought this was good if anyone just wanted 1 or 2 beers from a decent selection, save having to buy the 4. My Aldi is right by Tesco, but their best offer only seems to get down to 4 for £6 :man:

same with my local Morrisons, it's backward thinking as I'll get from asda and end up shopping there too, should all price match

The £1.25 bottles are available in Scotland - picked up some last week. Would have to say that the selection wasn't as good as it has been but a couple of really good local brews still in it.

Just tried some Ahop-alyptic Now ale, from Aldi. Wasn't expecting much, the bottle label looked very cool and of course I was suckered in by their marketing. Have to admit I'll definitely go back for more...probably one of the nicest bottled ales I've had :smiley:

The Rev James Rye beer has a money back if you don't like it neck collar - it's good but I've told Brains otherwise & sent it off

Sorry, had to vote cold as this isn't an especially good price. Sainsburys often have good beers and ales on offer for £1 (they're taste the difference IPA is excellent). and it's not too much different to offers and other supermarkets, which generally have a better selection.

For those with a Costco card, you can get 16 Badger Brewery Beers for £16.78 inc VAT, so just over £1 a bottle. Includes Tangle Foot, Champion and two others :smiley:

The selection in the link point in St Helens wasn't much better than what they normally have. Very disappointing festival.

I think the Lidl Beer Cellar offers a better range of brews at £1.25 - £1.49

Their own 'craft' beer range is pretty dire though.

I'd disagree the Addled Addler and Gnarly Fox are pretty good.

They're okay I guess. Purple Panther Porter though is like a poor version of Hobgoblin, it's just crap and seems a bit pointless to buy too when they sell Hobgoblin for the same price.

fantastic! Was in there the other day and saw all the new ales ready to be stacked. Have to say I saw a few that don't pop up that often in the local supermarkets near me, alot of the black sheep variety. Gonna defo pop down!

I've been buying Badger Poacher's Choice for 72p a bottle from my local Tesco store for the last couple of weeks. I've only seen it in the one store though.

Bought some "Land of Liberty American Style IPA" from Rockingham Aldi on Sunday. £1.09 for 330ml. Lovely stuff - easily as good as much of the stuff my local craft ale sells at £3+ a bottle. Labelled "Sadlers" and "The Great British Brewing Company". Also "specially produced for Aldi Stores Ltd". Not on their website, hope it's nationwide as I'd like to get more of it.

Daft comment - Panther is a Porter, Hobgoblin a Dark Ale both good value @ £1.25

Incidentally Fuller's London Porter is one of my favourite beers, that's a proper porter not this Lidl crap

edit: I didn't realise it's made by Jennings (Marston's), that's a shame. They make some good beers, I'm a big fan of Sneck LIfter but man that Purple Panther is poor. People on Ratebeer seem to agree..

I suspect Marstons are more qualified than you to differentiate between Panther and Hobgoblin given that they brew both

Yes I know that Marstons bought Wychward, it might actually explain the similarity and yes the Panther is brewed by Jennings, another brewey that was bought by Marstons in recent years. This doesn't mean the breweries suddenly lose their identity and all the beers start to taste the same. Sadly it did to an extent when they bought Ring wood, for example the strength of Old Thumper was reduced and their beers became a but samey. I mentioned Sneck Lifter earlier and as far as I remember it hasn't changed much since Marston bought Jennings. Don't you think that someone who knew that would know that Marston's bought Wychward?
