I installed the Prime Now app and used 30PRIMENOW to get £10 off my first purchase of £30 or more. The Fire Stick with voice control is £35 so that qualifies

My 1 and only Fire Stick I bought on Black Friday and they were £19 and it arrived next day.
I pretty much instantly wished I had bought 1 or 2 more especially as we have Prime.
£30 could make me bend but I'm wondering about next Black Friday but that is 6 months away.....

It has been around a while but rarely reduced in price and handy if you have amazon prime to get it delivered quickly for free compared to argos or tesco that also have it for the same price give or take a penny.

Think it was £19.99 around black Friday in October last year :disappointed:

Literally bought one of these last week for £34.99.

unlucky mate. they must shift thousands if not tens of thousands of these, partly due to being able to apparently load popular media player software onto it :smirk: so i'm not sure why they would knock money off it tbh

If you bought it off amazon then i would get onto the chat with them as I've heard a lot of people having been in similar situations (not just with the fire stick) and been able to get the difference credited onto there account.
Saves them having to generate a returns label for you to 'return it' then order a new one at the lower price.
Worth a try!

Agree - I did this with kindles at xmas and got about 30 quid back

I recall them being on pre order for under £20 over a year ago....
They must be selling a good amount to keep the price at that level, although calling it the worlds most powerful streaming stick is a bit misleading, it's not even close.
The lack of USB ports and x265 really hurt it IMO, but you can't fault that remote, one of the best and use it for my shield.

Anyone bought this off Amazon Prime using the £10 discount?

OK - contacted Amazon online support - they have issued me a £5 refund as a show of good faith. Got to be honest, I've never had a problem with Amazon support - they always come through.

The way that everywhere seems to be fire-selling these at the moment (no pun intended) makes me suspect that Amazon may be launching an updated version at some point in the not too distant future. The hardware inside these is already nearly 2 years old at this point.

Probably a version without the ability to load kodi so snap these up while you can

I have the stick and the fire tv and imo the fire tv is way way more stable for using kodi and its various addons, pay the extra £20-£30 or so and get a fire tv

Is there any sign of NowTV coming to the Firestick? We use NowTV a lot on the Chromecast and have recently signed up to Prime. It's going to be a bit annoying have to run the two devices side by side.

Do these qualify for the £10 off using Prime Now app for the first time? Potentially making them £19.99?

23 May 16#25
If you an Amazon account, or create a new one, you can get 1 months free trial to Prime. Download the app to your phone and then sign in. Search for fire stick, choose the voice control as it is £34.99, use the code 30PRIMENOW to get £10 off your first £30 spend. The normal fire stick is £29.99 so I doubt the £10 off will work
Reflective
23 May 16#26
You need to spend £30 to get £10 off your first £30 order.

23 May 16#27
You would need to purchase an item of 0.01 off prime to get the discount of the standard stick

Unfortunately not. You might be better off buying a Roku, which has access to Now TV and Amazon Video.

I bought it at the same time for the bargain price of £19. If I remember right, it was limited to only 1 per 'prime' account. I would also have purchased a second too otherwise

Just bought this using the 25p sellotape add on...
Doubtful. As has been pointed out many times in the past, Amazon do not offer dev kits for their Fire range so the ability to sideload is required for app development and test. If they were looking to move towards a totally closed platform then the signs would be self-evident and it would be the first time something like that has ever happened on Android.

Pay an extra 5er and get the voice remote. They seem to be going cheaper too at £34.99. Good bit of kit for the price. Struggles a bit with kodi although it is useable
These aren't the only android sticks in town. You can pick up mini pcs running proper android for c£20 on eBay. Also, it's always going to run heavily skinned Android, so the best they could do would be to drop ES file explorer from their store (like they did with kodi). Using a computer to push files to your Amazon stick a bit scary for most users.
Kodibuntu on a mini PC like a NUC or Brix much better though.

I also bought one at £19, I then bought a fire box at £59 and then sold it because it was barely any better than the stick. Since then I've bought 3 more sticks for the 2 kids rooms and a spare just in case. It took me aN hour or so watching youtube to figure out how to install Kodi and now I can do them in minutes. Even my 6 yr old can use it.. There's someone local installs Kodi for £10 and he looks barely able to tie his laces after his medication so figured if jobless Jeff can do it for £10 it can't be hard and it's not..

Is it worth going for the Voice TV Stick for £5 more? or just stick to the original one? I've got the normal one in the main TV and want something for my bedroom now. I know I can use the Amazon TV Stick APP on my phone and use the voice feature on there even with the normal stick... just wondering if its worth paying £5 more or not...
Is there any other differences other than the voice feature??? Also does the voice feature work with Kodi?
Thanks!

Does anyone have both a Fire stick and a Now TV box? How does the quality of the output from the catch up apps (iplayer, ITV hub, My5 etc) compare between the 2?
eg. on Now Tv box - iplayer is max 720p, ITV max 480p?
eset12345
29 May 16#68
if you're spending that extra you may as well go for a generic android box which will be much better than a fire tv box

I tried to use the prime now discount but it is not available in my area, so unable to get the discount!

fwiw, looks the same quality to me on both Fire TV stick and white NowTV box. Only Channel 4's catchup picture quality is atrociously poor.
I have noticed My5 on FireTV seems to be missing content that I can find on Demand5 on NowTV and Sony smart TV. eg. X-Files rerun.

Is it easy to install kodi and mobdro? I see all these people on ebay selling sticks with it pre-loaded for £30, £40, £50!! Is this something that anyone could download and install?
