So it's only really a problem for those users who are frequently writing huge amounts of data to disk?

I'm going to say ... Bradley Manning, in the Library with the USB Memory Stick

I came to this page because I am looking for a new SSD after my 512gb Adata SSD died after 18 months - I believe its still in warranty but im having huge difficulties getting Adata to respond to my requests for an RMA replacement under warranty. No phone numbers and only a messaging system on their website - They acknowledge reciept of my request but thats it - ive sent 3 or 4 follow up requests over the past 10 days but I haven't had any sort of response. For this reason id suggest it was a brand to avoid, comparing this to a recent experience with Dyson - who sent me a new battery for my cordless vac - even though i couldnt provide a proof of purchase almost 2 years after buying their product.

Slower than a hard hard drive for writing - after the cache runs out.

Because it will make a difference to the performance different users will experience.

I think there are pretty significant clues...

Slower for reading or writing?

Yes - great until the cache runs out, slower than a hard drive after that. Avoid like the plague.

SLC caching? I presume this is TLC then with a small amount of cache sat on SLC?

To those that never heard of them, they actually manufacture and supply direct to the big laptop brands. For example their drives were used for the ASUS's first ZEN Series Ultrabooks and offered the highest performance, but then ASUS switched to using SANDISK iirc which were slower allegedly for the sake of stability. No idea how common they are nowadays though.

Would be nice if the title of this thread actually said what this product is... (an SSD).

They kept going stable when Sandforce was sinking OCZ, or Samsung suffered firmware jerks. Purchased one for customer - seems to bee good, as supposed.

+1 - Used the older model units (when I was working in IT) and have been pretty solid.

Not myself, but Tom's Hardware generally rates them (and this card in particular) as their budget buy brand.

With SD cards - and they were all excellent. No experience with SSDs though...
