You shouldn't just accept what NVidia tells you, always fact-check, to re-iterate:
- No licensing fees for adoption
- No expensive or proprietary hardware models
- No communication overhead
Bottom line is FreeSync does 99% what GSync does for free or to put in terms people care that's £100 less at the very least.
Nnvidia SHOULD support adaptive-sync, it's a standard, but then again they wouldn't be getting that sweet licencing money, which ultimately you are paying.
Closest comparison:
AOC G2460PG 24" 144Hz G-SYNC, which I own sells for ~£290
AOC G2470PF 24" 144Hz FreeSync, which is identical sells for ~£190 and has speakers, D-Sub, DVI, HDMI

Most movies and shows are made in 25-30fps its rare that they use anything above as it takes longer to make and harder to make special effects look good.
Another reason they dont use 60fps is that it makes stuff look "too realistic" and people dont seem to like that in films.
Why?
Because it is smoother and more responsive and when playing fast paced games it makes all the difference.
The only thing that a 144hz monitor will help you with is gaming and thats why they are aimed at gamers, theres no point watching a 30fps film on a 144hz monitor as you will not benefit.

While I may have been misinformed about the 30fps thing since it is one of those false "facts" that many people "know", that does not give you the excuse to be an obnoxious moron!
In fairness, the human eye cannot tell the difference between 30fps and higher on slow/static scenes. On dynamic scenes, you may be able to tell a certain amount of difference.
But in reality, unless you are LOOKING for the problem, it's negligible. I happily watch 1080p Blu-ray films with intense action scenes on a screen over 100" and I really don't notice any motion blurring!
Also, I believe my projector is 144hz and my monitor is 75hz - and you can't tell the difference between the refresh rates.
I just find it hilarious that people like you say things like "If you have ever actually played on a 144hz monitor vs a 60hz monitor you would understand why people buy 144hz monitors" but they can never explain WHY. Or why 30fps is fine for movies and console games but awful for PC games.

I presume the answer is the later of the two I mentioned.
The human eye can see way over 30fps its generally agreed that its in the range of 200-300 in most cases.
If you have ever actually played on a 144hz monitor vs a 60hz monitor you would understand why people buy 144hz monitors.

Brilliant cheers - I'll take a look when I'm back home on the projector. I doubt my laptop would make the most of it.

Here's a good example. Interpolated but you can see. Select HD and 60 FPS.
I've just noticed that you've been a member for over 3 years and haven't posted a single deal. So how about you take your pathetic arrogance elsewhere?
I don't think I have. How would I go about doing this? I think that the Hobbit films are 48fps but I don't recall seeing any 60fps films. And apparently these high fps movies cause the "Soap Opera" effect where everything looks almost too real?
Thanks for the info - I'll take a proper look when I've had more than 3 hours sleep!

good price but at this refresh rate you need sync, free or g.

£170 for a 24" monitor - and it's not even IPS :O
In all seriousness, would a typical person notice the difference between this screen and a decent £100 one?

Yes frames per second matters......otherwise us pro gamers won't bye top notch equipment.
Have you seen a movie at 60FPS? Watch one and report back

I can never understand why people are so obsessed with refresh rates when you can't see faster than about 30fps. Even movies only run at about 24-25fps.

Cannot wait for IPS panels with this kind of refresh rate to become affordable, still good deal for the price.

It is built into the standard but there is a particular hardware spec needed for the frame buffer, but higher spec monitors can handle with no extra hardware. Yes there is licence fees also.
People think it's as easy as a firmware update, there is a few more requirements needed otherwise all monitors will run it with a simple update.
Free sync is It's not completely free and is resourceful.

Nope, it's been built into the VESA standard so as long you support DisplayPort 1.2a and higher it's built in for free so to speak, no extra hardware required in the monitor like Gsync.

license wise maybe, but surely it costs to implement?
