Only Santander and Halifax can give you the right answer but speaking from experience as being in debt :disappointed: for almost 8 years (not anymore, thankfully) you cannot pay off a loan from a credit card. Some credit cards like Tesco and MBNA etc allow you to transfer your credit card balance to your bank account (they call it money transfers) usually with a 4% one off fee. Then you can pay off your loan as the money is going from your account.

Not sure if you can pay the loan off with a credit card. The loan company will incur card fees.
Think you need to phone and ask santander but I'm guessing it'll cost.

Got the card with 4k limit! happy days.
Just to triple check (Sorry never done this before), i have a loan with Santander 3.8K and a Credit card with Halifax and this nice new AA CC. So i pay off the loan with the Halifax CC and then do a transfer from the Halifax to the AA CC and enjoy the interest free period?
I plan to pay off the balance within the 24 months!
Still haven't had no email from the AA, said it was excepted on the site and cashback tracked quickly, would have thought an email would have come by now to confirm.

Well I might give them a call and see whether I can get something done about the certification process. I think Bank of Ireland are linked to the post office so maybe one can use them? As it stands though am likely to cancel as it's simply too much trouble :disappointed:

Still a faddle though. I don't have an accountant, free access to a solicitor and my banking is all online so don't know if I can wander into a bank (mine has no branches of its own) for someone to certify for me. It seems like a real waste of a doctor's time to make an appointment because my documents need attention.
The forms don't say you can send originals (not that I would) so certified copies appear to be the only route?

Chanchi32
21 May 161#97
assuming AA have an instant online decision (which may not always work) - you will be accepted/declined or referred
if referred they may request some further info from you to validate a few things e.g. income and proof of address such as a utility bill
also remember to setup a direct debit for any monthly payments if accepted

In the application for Virgin Money transfer you specify the amount you want to transfer, I believe the maximum is £15k. I think if you specify a higher amount they may refer the application to double check a few items including income.

At then moment I have 2 purchase credit cards with different limits, I'm using just some of the credit and going to pay it in full at the end of interest free period. Is it worth to keep those cards after interest free period? I know that credit card companys can offer bigger credit limits, but will it be with new interest free limit? I guess not?..

It will take even longer than the 100 months you quote bellboys as the 1% is on a reducing balance so depending on how much you start of with it takes a lot longer.
£10k - 238 months
£5k - 169 months
These are theoretical numbers as the interest free period runs out after 24 months which would extend the length of time that it would take to pay off even further!

No, thats called a money transfer.
You usually pay a larger fee for this, but barclaycard and mbna sometimes do deals on money transfers.
However, bear in mind that once you leave the 0% bit, its still classed as a cash credit - as though you got money out at a ATM, which means mental interest rates outside of the promo period.

Whether it is a good thing or not, unlike many card issuers Tesco only ask for 1% (or 25 quid, min) of balance in monthly payments. Leaves a lot more flexibility BUT be aware will take 100 MONTHS to pay off the balance so more transferring will be needed at the end of this term.

18 May 161#48
About average. That's only £2.50 per 100 pounds.
The minimum monthly payment is normally £5, so you will be charged £5 or 2.5% whichever is greater.
Personally I love these kinds of cards! I transfer outstanding balance to them. Divide that amount by the interest free period (for example £2500 / 24) and set up a direct debit for that amount. That way when the interest free period is over the card is clear, I just close the account and move on.
I can't remember the last time I paid interest on anything except for my mortgage.

I did this the last time round. AA quidco tracked but still not confirmed from January. Quidco says it well within 'their timeframe'. 5 months is not within mine. You have a few options. Lets say you have £2400 on a card with another company. You balance transfer to this card thus giving you 24 months to pay off the £2400. £100 a month to pay back. If you cannot afford to pay £100, lets say £50, you would have £1200 left at the end of the 24 months. At this point and timing is crucial, you balance transfer to another 0% on balance transfers card with as low a fee as possible -0 fee if you can. Lets say you had 12 months on the new card, that gives you this long to pay the £1200. Again, if you pay £50, it will have a balance of £600 at the end. You can then apply for another card until the whole amount is paid off. Hope this helps.

This card is more for people who want to transfer an outstanding balance from a loan/credit credit to benefit from 2 years 0% lending.
If you want to transfer money directly to your bank account then a money transfer credit card is probably what you are looking for, which transfers money from your credit card to your bank account for a small fee. The best money transfer deal on the market is Virgin Money 0% for 32 months with a 1.69% fee.
If you are not comfortable borrowing on a credit card the other option would be to look at a loan.
