There are nine different lungos and espressos, to choose from, including a pretty decent decaf . All are roasted in the UK and compatible with all home-use Nespresso machines

Are these any good - anyone tried them? All compatibles I've tried aren't as good as the original Nespresso ones.
What about the price difference? How much do these work out per capsule?

I've tried the Dolce Gusto compatible ones and they tasted fine but I found the pods got stuck in the machine a couple of times and I had to fight to get them out.

I've tried a couple including the '12' intensity rated supercharger. They are a better alternative to most of the other non nespresso ones I've tried and I've had no problems with the capsules themselves.

Anyone recommend something that would work with a Tassimo please?
Subscription wise would be good, even bulk buy, thanks

Nice deal, went for the 80 pod pack and got one of every flavour except the decaf for £10.47 delivered.
That's my coffee for the month sorted.

Great deal. Can I cancel subscription straight away or should I wait until first order has been delivered? Don't want to cancel and find my first order has also been cancelled

They are the best of the compatible bunch but not as good as the Nespresso.
If 50% off then that should more than compensate.
I went for 10 of each excluding decaf. I would normally only go for the 12 or the 10 if 12 not available so it will give me a chance to try all their range.
Hot !

Personally they don’t work or taste as well as the original ones, i bought some but ended up telling the missus to use them for her friends when they come round.
The nespresso vanilla amaretti is going down a treat at the mo.

Taylors of Harrogate coffee pods are hands down the best flavour and creme!
Hot for the offer thought!!

Each to their own but strongly disagree. I used Taylors all the time when I had a filter machine but tried their capsules recently on the half price offer and wasn't impressed! Strange taste and worse was they were weak as water

I've tried Cafe Pod before but was really disappointed with the flavour. The only non-Nespresso pods that have even come close (for me at least) are the Carte Noire ones.

Thanks for the info - I see Carte Noir are available to subscribe and save on Amazon, so I may give them a try. Heat anyway, OP.

I quite liked the 8 or 9 strength ones we have at home. Prefered them to the nespresso one's so I'm definitely tempted. For info these aren't metal like the nespresso ones so don't need recycling. Instead they are sealed in little foil packets. Once the packet is open the bottom of the capsule has small holes in the bottom to let the coffee out (not punched through like the originals) so only open them when you want a coffee.

You can just do it in your account. I think you log in, scroll to the bottom and there's an option to cancel subscription. It's definitely in there somewhere because I've done it.

These are poor compared to the originals. I have tried many of these compatible pods (including these ones) but the few pennies saved doesn't make up for the lack of quality.

Totally agree, not even close to the quality of the nespresso coffee or the actual pods themselves.

I recommend the Gourmesso pods as a cheaper alternative. Can buy 100 on amazon for £22-27 and for me they are a great and cheaper alternative to nespresso

I like my coffee and I have tried several 'Nespresso' compatible brands. I find the Cafe Pod ones to be the best alternative to the vastly overpriced Nespresso pods themselves. Normally a pack of 10 Cafe Pods is around £2.50, so to get 80 of them for £10 is a proper bargain. Their Livewire and Ristretto ones are really good if you haven't tried them before, definitely worth a punt at this price.

Originals being 28-32p/pod I dont feel is bad value. Yes, these are a bit less at 25p (without this offer) but that 3-7p is worth it for the quality coffee Nespresso provides.
Now, the case here of 80 for a tenner is a bit harder because at 8p/pod they are good enough for guests so as not to use up the good ones on them haha.

The only compatibles I've tried that I like as much as the originals are from fine coffee club. Their single origin pods are beautiful, esp the Colombia & Kenyan.

I have tried the Lidl and Aldi ones. Not too bad for Guests as better than the freeze dried I would normally give to people.....BUT no where near as good as Nesspresso's own.
I have tried many and to be honest non match nesspresso's own. The closest I have found that I like is from Cru Cafe (https://www.crukafe.com/) -- very close in my eyes... only issue I have is that the cost per pod is very similar to Nesspresso. If you can get them on special offer (Amazon had them on lightning deal the other week) then they are worth a punt in my opinion.
Another I tried (again good old Amazon) was from Taylors (https://www.taylorscoffee.co.uk/blog/2015/05/single-origin-coffee-capsules/) - I thought these tasted not too bad at all and for the price I got them for I have no complaints.
I tried these guys off a Kickstarter -- https://www.pactcoffee.com/coffees -- there beans are good as had them before so took a punt and was not too disappointed - pods tend to stick in the machine but not too hard to get out with a finger but this is their first dip in the market, hence the Kickstarter campaign.
Personal opinion I know and I am sure there are taste buds out there that would disagree and some that would agree...

I find the flow of coffee is much slower when using these pods, seems to put the machine under more strain...and you get less coffee.

I'd happily come round for a coffee if you were serving Cafe Pod in the guise of Nespresso

20 Jun 16#46
Possibly because most of their range that's in the shops is Espresso rather than Lungo? You get more coffee packed into a Lungo pod as you're supposed to add more water/milk to it IIRC. I use the Espresso pods and I don't seem to get any less in them than my Nespreso ones, perhaps it's machine specific? Cheap as chips for me

I find it strange that people will gladly pay out for a Nespresso machine and then for the sake of a few pence a pod want to use compatibles in it ..in my experience I've found Nespresso pods far superior and worth those extra few pennies a pod but then I'm not a heavy coffe drinker so each to their own budget .

20 Jun 16#49
Personally I just stick to the Nespresso pods nowadays given I have an Espresso machine. I don't knock anything until I try it and I have tried after market pods and while they're fine I guess, they just don't hit the spot.

Yeah depends on your usage really, the compatibles definitely come out slower and sometimes get crushed by the machine. But £0.30p vs £0.16p when you're drinking 5 a day makes a big difference.
Recently using Costco ones (£0.16p) which work well.

At £10 for 80 worth a try, like other have said no compatible I've tried so far are as nice as nespresso, but ideal to have a stock of cheap ones for guests, save the good ones for myself!!
Have some heat tho!!

I ordered the last time this offer was on and had to return them. Apart from the fact they were just crumpling up in my machine and ended up breaking it (thankfully 3 yr warranty!) on others the seal didn't break.
Cafe pod admitted they had known issues with their pods and would be releasing a new version later this year. Hence it's likely that this offer is designed to get rid of the current fault stock.
Shame as the coffee wasn't bad at all on the few that did work (before my machine broke)

I've just finished my lot from this offer and not one problem with stuck pods etc. (except when the mrs forgets to empty the recepticol and it is overflowing!). These were good, however, I have an Aldi machine and have never tried original Nespresso pods anyway. Just switching to the carte noir ones I got on offer on Amazon.

Stranger still, all these "nice" people here who use the apparently inferior compatibles on their guests, whereas historically people would have served guests their finest. How times have changed.

I took advantage of this offer and was nicely surprised by the first box but have had problems with the foil coming away from the pod since then. I find there's a lot more water in the waste tray as it escapes from the pod, presumably all due to poor design, the foil not perforating and pressure build up. If I stick the foil with a few pin holes first it works better but a bit of a faff. I wouldn't buy them again at full price. Taste OK though.
