No idea. Used it in airport in UK. iPad picked up the service supplier once or twice. Could have just been poor coverage I guess but I was 15 mins walk from the airport and you would have thought anyplace that would have had decent coverage would have been in that vicinity.

I attempted to get some clarity on the 'can you use this allowance abroad' on the Three blog, as they appear to put more though into that than Live Chat. Here's my question and the answer:
Question: "I’ve bought a Broadband – Pay As You Go + 12 (12gb of data valid for 12 months) SIM. Am I able to use this data when travelling abroad, or would I need to purchase a separate top up?
Info on the Three site appears to say that you can buy allowance out of your credit, but with this SIM I would have an allowance by default, but no credit unless I elected to buy some. On the actual product page it infers that this can be used abroad, so I’m getting mixed signals"
Reply: "– Hi there, as you get an allowance of data, you’ll be able to use this in our Feel At Home destinations. If you’re travelling outwith our Feel At Home countries, you’ll be charged for any data you use so it’ll come off any credit you have. Part of your reply seems to be the reason the app works differently on your tablet.
I'm using Android and not iOS so the Apple app must work differently to the Android on my Nexus 9 LTE.

That's not how it is working for me. If connected to WIFI, it takes me the 3 web site via Safari and I have to login. If disconnected from WIFI and connected to the 3 Cellular network only, (WIFI turned off) it still launches Safari and as it detects the 3 SIM I don't have to login. So for me it is nothing more than an additional app to launch Safari (which I can do myself) . Your mileage may vary, perhaps we are running a different iOS version, or there is some other unknown difference in our set ups ? So for now I will continue to check my data balance by launching Safari, which I have set up to directly connect to the 3 web site on startup.

The '3' app will launch the web browser automatically if you are connected to WiFi for your internet.
If you are away from your WiFi connection and connected to the internet with the '3' mobile network it will work differently on your tablet.
With the app you also don't even need to set up an account to find your balance because it will detect your data sim balance through the mobile network you are using which makes it easier.

Downloaded the 3 app, clicked on My Account and it launches Safari takes me to three.co.uk website, which is the same page / info as I have been using along to find out what my data usage was, so it hasn't made it any easier (or harder) to find out what my data remaining is balance is, but the 3 App has used up valuable data space storage on my tablet. So I have deleted it. It may be useful or helpful for someone, but unfortunately not for me.

But yep!, Nexus 7, & Nexus 10 Tablets come as both WiFi only, or as both WiFi & SIM Card versions too!.
iPad's come in these 2 states too.
As do some HP Tablets.
And some versions of Asus Transformer's come that way too.

I'm using mine in a 4G cellular enabled tablet. After I registered, every-time I connect now via 3/4G only ( ie WIFI turned off) and I go the three web site I am automatically logged in, already connected and I can see the data usage info. I have never had to use a device number. Might be a different situation / scenario if you are using it in a MIFI, I don't know, as I have only ever used the 3 SIM in my cellular enabled tablet.

Thanks, got it now. It took me a while to register, I ended up having to remove the SIM card from the MiFi to an android phone and register with the phone number, but on the registration page they mention... "device number" as well, do you know what that is in case I can log in with a number in the card in the future or similar? or is just possible to register with the phone number?

I bought one of this around 6m ago and I'd like to see if I'm near the limit or still far from it. I put it on a MiFi device and can connect to it and see the settings of the device on my computer, but they don't have a setting for cumulative usage.
Any idea if it's then possible to see how much data one has used once it is activated?

Will work in a mifi device in the UK only, I took one to the USA last month and it worked perfect in the tablet but not in the mifi device. Confirmed it with 3 when i got home that there were no problems. Also no tethering allowed when abroad but in the UK its fine.
Basically its set up to stop folk buying this to use it abroad only and then binning it when they get home

I think the one thing to watch out for if intending to exploit this for use in a "Feel at home" foreign country is that you're required to have activated the SIM in the UK before hand (and hence started the 12 month limit for using the 12GB ticking).

These are great for dual sim phones. You can have one of these for your 4g data needs and then a talkmobile PAYG sim for talk/ texts for instance. Sort of having your cake and eating it in a cheap kind of way.

This should work fine abroad in either a tablet or mifi - it's their phone contracts/sims that usually don't allow tethering abroad, but mobile broadband does. I've had technical trouble in a mifi in the past because it didn't support the right frequency, though.

I bought this deal elsewhere a couple of weeks ago to use in Majorca. Currently having lunch in my hotel in Majorca and the 3 network is using the Orange SP network, so it is working very well and is a good deal if you are going to one of the 19 countries it covers.
I read last week that Tesco are dropping roaming data charges for the summer so they might offer travellers a good deal too.

I took one to Australia. Worked in the MiFi device in the UK but would not work in Australia. It was fine when in my actual phone, so it may have something to do with tethering whilst roaming being blocked. Worked fine in MiFi whilst in Ireland.
