Offer ends June 30th :P
Or 4 months for £1.98
(Keep this for a month then cancel, then create a new account and pay another 99p before June 30th. Effectively making it 4 months for £1.98)

loyal music junkies get nothing from Spotify in the form of discounts or bonus. ffs....I've been using this service for ages on premium service and getting fleeced for a tenner. would love to see a bonus in return. maybe even just a month free or crappy keyring would do.

Move to the Philipenes then and see how much £2 is worth to you when you are earning £200 a month. It's ridiculous to complain that a similar product is cheaper in a difierent country, ofcourse it !!
Anyway, signup as a student and get 50% off premium
RuudBullit

I'd hardly say you were getting fleeced though, imo. I used to spend between £20 and £30 per month on cd's. I now have more music, and it's with me all the time.

Ahh, didn't realise my PayPal account can have multiple email identities attached to it. Is there a limit?

The gmail trick (using extra periods within the email name) doesn't work for me, so I created a new account, but it won't let me pay using my PayPal account - an account I used in the past to get an earlier 3 months for 99p Spotify offer.
Do Spotify insist that new accounts are paid for with a new payment method - in that are they tracking payment methods as well, to ensure they're not used again and again on "offers" against new accounts?

What is it that puts deezer above Spotify for you? I've just moved over after getting the free 6 months promo, but I find there's a lot of music that isn't available and I'm still having the same issue when it comes to using it offline. I try to download a few albums, they show up as downloaded (the same as the stuff that I've previously downloaded and listened to offline) but when I go offline they aren't accessible.
The stuff that I've already checked plays fine. So when I go back online there's no obvious way of working out what I need to cancel and then set to download again as they all show up the same. Just been on to deezer through the fb page and eventually was told The data must also be saved on internal memory as the music maybe unplayable if saved in external memory. I know its confusing but we currently do not support SD cards/external storage for the app or tracks How many people want to store gig's of music on their internal memory?! It does work, but it's REALLY buggy.

The 50,000 free tracks as cloud storage for Google Play is unbelievably hot, but people don't know about it. You can upload anything you want, including flacs which get converted to 320kbps mp3, and its totally free. Considering you only get 15gb of storage for gmail, then 50k tracks is stupidly good.

20 May 16#145
The price should reflect their costs and a set profit margin not how much they can get away charging, that is what gave the music industry such a bad name in the first place, like charging £18 for a CD album in the UK and 5$ for the same one in the US in the 80s

Been using it since last year on student discount. Best decisions I have ever made. Unlimited music for £4.99.
If you are always outside the house then spotify is for you.
I didn't know how bad I needed this until I got it. Plus I don't have to torrent music and copy paste it in my phone's memory card which was always a hassle.

Can't be bothered to wade through 7 pages of comments, but I used the Brazil VPN exploit and when it came to renew the next month, I was rumbled and that was that. I would imagine they look at the IP addresses on which you are mainly streaming to, see that it's UK for 30 days and not Brazil, and turn you off.
Am I alone in this experience? Did I do it wrong?

There's other ways to get good Spotify deals.
I can't sell them on HUKD as per rules - but Vodafone give some customers Spotify subscriptions.
I have a couple each year that go to the people & I imagine that's why others can offer Spotify at slightly better than £5/month.

20 May 165#122
Christ, some of the comments on this thread are unreal. Spotify "Fleecing" customers for offering all the music you can handle, instantly, for a tenner a month!!!
Unbelievable how entitled people feel. For a dose of reality, my friends band who have a reasonable sized national following and have had their tracks played 153,000 times have only made around £60 from Spotify in 3 years.
Spotify pays pennies to artists.. purely due to how self entitled the modern music fan is.
Great deal by the way. good for showcasing the service to people who have never used it, but if you think a tenner for unlimited albums is too much then music is already dead.

Spotify is awesome, The app itself is amongst the best apps, great playlists, create your own, listen to pre-made (helps finding great songs that I would never have found). Quality of sound great and the selection of music is vast (minus Taylor Swift - bonus). Being able to play any track without shuffle and skip parts of songs is 100% worth it over the free version. I listen to music a lot more than I used to now I have Spotify.
Great deal. Hot

Tax is a different thing altogether, for one thing it is completely transparent how much people pay, and for another it goes towards benefiting everyone, and the country as a whole, not some random company.
cooperdj
20 May 16#108
"Unethical" ?
adam0812
20 May 16#107
So do you think everyone should pay the same rate of tax?
avatariii
20 May 16#106
if the service is the same and the cost to distribute that service is the same, yes.
If it costs more to get licenses to stream music in the UK then the price difference is acceptable, but if spotify modify their prices based on what people in each country can afford then I do not think it is. it is unethical to artificially inflate prices just because the people you are selling it to can afford it. it's akin to a car salesman seeing an affluent couple walk into his showroom and quickly adding another 0 to the price of a car he is going to try and sell them
adam0812
20 May 16#105
You think its unreasonable that someone should pay more where the country they live average earnings are higher?
avatariii
20 May 162#104
By that logic, if people earning 200 per month get to pay £2 for spotify and people earning £1000 per month on minimum wage in the UK have to pay £10, people earning £3000 per month in decent jobs should have to pay £30 per month for spotify! yay for logic, everything should be priced differently for everyone based on their earnings!
Also we in the UK pay over 60% more for spotify than in the US, (or about 40% more taking VAT into account) so does that mean in the UK we earn 40% more than people in the US? actually our average income is about 20% less!
adam0812
20 May 164#103
Having 30 million tracks in your pocket for £10 a month is greedy? I guess we have a different perception of value.

Well ive been a spottily premium member for over 6 months and so far im happy with it. There some artists which you wont find on there but most you do. probably because you've logged in with your current user account. clear your cookies and try the link again.
i might have some of this actually with a new account. i did the last 99p one earlier in the year and then went in to the three month trial of apple music, but i'm finding i used spotify a LOT more than apple music - probably mainly because i've had to turn off the iCloud access due to it screwing up my album art.
Only got a month left with Apple Music so wouldn't be too much of a hardship to cancel it now i suppose.

Getting so annoyed with Spotify. Nothing for loyal users, always only NEW members. So unfair!

I think I shall be taking up the Philippines offer. The OH is Filipino and has an account there. Not bad for £2 a month.

With all the signup bonuses for current accounts, I have 5 now, so each time this Spotify deal runs out, I just wait for the next three month free offer and sign up again. It's just a case of remembering which cards I've already used!
You only need a new card and another email address, it doesn't go off postal addresses.

You're not being fleeced you can cancel anytime  it's a subscription service you decided to stay loyal too

yeah beauty....that's a good sheep mentality....so you pay £30 a month in hmv say for example then weird guy next door to you with the funny smell and bad choice of hats, buys the same CDs each month , buy only for £10, then spends the other £20 on bernard matthews turkey roll....cos that's all he eats. well I want some turkey roll !!!!!

My last 3 month for 99p deal ran out and I switched to Deezer for their free 6 months promo. I don't mind the UI but the actual lack of music is rather irritating! I've been going through the music I had saved on spotify and downloading it to my phone in deezer and there's a lot of stuff that I can't get :disappointed: Maybe in time (if I stick with it) I'll find stuff on deezer that isn't available on spotify, but for now I'm a little disappointed - but free is free! (I just ordered the free sim and activated it through that - so you should be able to do it with the 3 month promo now).

I swapped from spotify to deezer to take advantage of the free 6 month offer on three, wouldn't go back to spotify now I find the deezer app easier to navigate and like the "flow" option, also it integrates better with my "chromecast audio"
if you dont know what that is google it, its the best £30 I've ever spent on a tech product,
Answers there. I guess you need someone to use their payment details.

loyal music junkies get nothing from Spotify in the form of discounts or bonus. ffs....I've been using this service for ages on premium service and getting fleeced for a tenner. would love to see a bonus in return. maybe even just a month free or crappy keyring would do.

Stop crying. That applies to everything. Ie Internet, utility bills etc there's introductory offers everywhere. Here's your solution - step 1 - dry your tears
step 2 - cancel your current account
step 3 - create a new one.

The answer is quit Spotify, and move to Deezer Premium, less than £3 per month forever
Brilliant Thanks. Just in time for my six months free with 3 ending.

I'd hardly say you were getting fleeced though, imo. I used to spend between £20 and £30 per month on cd's. I now have more music, and it's with me all the time.

^ Exactly that, which is why I enlisted the help of a friend overseas to purchase it for me so I can use it here in the UK. So much cheaper - I pay about £2/month. Since Spotify doesn't recognise us there's no reason to be paying full price
Opening post
Offer ends June 30th :P
Or 4 months for £1.98
(Keep this for a month then cancel, then create a new account and pay another 99p before June 30th. Effectively making it 4 months for £1.98)

1 account which I use all night in work from 10pm till 7am and wife uses daily (same account) and downloads all her music to phone. I will actually pay the £9.99 once the free ends.
got a message saying "it looks like you've tried this offer before" so i cancelled but it still appears to have taken the 99p ..
#edit
paypal has just worked though
Although, it was a throwaway email address I created using MeltMail - disappears after 24 hours - so not sure I want to start accumulating such email addresses tied to my PayPal account.
Do Spotify insist that new accounts are paid for with a new payment method - in that are they tracking payment methods as well, to ensure they're not used again and again on "offers" against new accounts?
The stuff that I've already checked plays fine. So when I go back online there's no obvious way of working out what I need to cancel and then set to download again as they all show up the same. Just been on to deezer through the fb page and eventually was told The data must also be saved on internal memory as the music maybe unplayable if saved in external memory. I know its confusing but we currently do not support SD cards/external storage for the app or tracks How many people want to store gig's of music on their internal memory?! It does work, but it's REALLY buggy.
Just got 25GB EE deal so I guess this would be good to drain down that 25GB somehow!
saves me making a new account for the 30 days trial for 3 months
If you are always outside the house then spotify is for you.
I didn't know how bad I needed this until I got it. Plus I don't have to torrent music and copy paste it in my phone's memory card which was always a hassle.
Am I alone in this experience? Did I do it wrong?
I can't sell them on HUKD as per rules - but Vodafone give some customers Spotify subscriptions.
I have a couple each year that go to the people & I imagine that's why others can offer Spotify at slightly better than £5/month.
Philippines is the country
it asked me to change my account to malta as entropay as based in malta
this meant I was only charged 0.99 euros not 99p so cheaper - added bonus is normal sub for maltese people is 6.99 euros & not £9.99
Seriously? It's a tenner to be able to listen to pretty much any song you want. Before the likes of Spotify, a tenner would buy you a single album.
Great deal. Hot
Still voted hot and worth getting though
If it costs more to get licenses to stream music in the UK then the price difference is acceptable, but if spotify modify their prices based on what people in each country can afford then I do not think it is. it is unethical to artificially inflate prices just because the people you are selling it to can afford it. it's akin to a car salesman seeing an affluent couple walk into his showroom and quickly adding another 0 to the price of a car he is going to try and sell them
Also we in the UK pay over 60% more for spotify than in the US, (or about 40% more taking VAT into account) so does that mean in the UK we earn 40% more than people in the US? actually our average income is about 20% less!
Why not just post on a car lease deal and say "£250 a month? have you considered stealing a car from a carpark?"
We're sad to see you goYou've cancelled your Spotify Premium subscription which will end on 2016-08-20.
Might just take the plunge lol
We're talking £2.50 a week for unlimited music.
Just my opinion!
cheers
Yep - sorted! The way I have done it was to Google "Spotify" then open from there. The deal was there!
i might have some of this actually with a new account. i did the last 99p one earlier in the year and then went in to the three month trial of apple music, but i'm finding i used spotify a LOT more than apple music - probably mainly because i've had to turn off the iCloud access due to it screwing up my album art.
Only got a month left with Apple Music so wouldn't be too much of a hardship to cancel it now i suppose.
TWO WEEKS AGO!!!!!
Basically if your email is [email protected], you can use [email protected] for a second time without having to make a new email account.
Lucky I have another payment card.
Or you can get yourself an NUS extra card and get Spotify for £4.99 a month instead.
