Yep that’s right, for 48 hours (hurry, ends Friday at 11.59pm) we’re offering members £20 cashback on all of your Hotels.com bookings. All we ask if you don’t make more than one booking per person and that the booking is for at least £20 (there are a few more Terms and Conditions, make sure you read them below).
So how do you earn your cashback?
1.Make sure you’ve signed up or signed in - you’ve done this bit, go you!
2.Find a hotel room on Hotels.com - click the button below and search Hotels.com for a hotel. Do not use the search function on EarnAway as you will not find Hotels.com listed.
3.Earn cashback - once you make your booking, your £20 cashback will track into your account (normally within around 6 hours) and we’ll pay you this money around 6 weeks after you’ve completed your stay. You’ll earn £20 cashback on any Hotels.com booking made up to Friday 27th May at 11.59pm so if you book a £20 hotel room (though admittedly these may be tough to find), the room is completely free. If the room costs more you can still earn £20 cashback. Again, to reiterate the offer is only valid once per person and any subsequent bookings will not be paid.
Although the booking needs to be made by Friday 27th May at 11.59pm, your stay can be for whenever.
So some great deals to be had, and all we ask you to do in exchange is tell your friends about EarnAway (you can even make money doing that) and come back to EarnAway and use us to book your future hotel rooms (we promise to ensure you get the best deal on ALL your hotel bookings).

Hi Raj, we're working in partnership with Hotels.com. So when one of our members make a booking on Hotels.com, Hotels.com passes this information back to us. We give you the commission that we make from Hotels.com in the form of cashback. Hope that makes sense.

Hey that's exactly the process, well done it's not clear to most . The hotel notifies the booking provider (in this case Hotels.com) who then notify the Affiliate Network (who track the activity). The hotel then pays the network who pay us. It is pretty inefficient and so it can take between 6-8 weeks after checkout (depending upon how efficient the three parties are) before the cashback is payable. We're looking at ways to speed that up (e.g. try and get paid immediately if you can't cancel the room) but the providers are obviously not entirely happy with this.

Also worth noting that HUKD itself has links to Maple Syrup Media too. All very secretive, but essentially, all these companies - Quidco, EarnAway, HUKD - are owned by the same people.
One thing that these brands have in common - awful websites. EarnAway website didn't work for me. Took ages to load on a superfast connection. Couldn't be bothered so went elsewhere.

Earning still not tracked, submitted a ticket, have not heard anything in 2 weeks and can't see any record of my claim in the dashboard. Tried to submit the claim again and now get a message:

The price guarantee is soon to be illegal. All of these online travel agents are parasitic organisations that charge upwards of 20% for the provision of a website. The price guarantee is in-fact an example of price fixing and they normally try to insist that hotels offer price parity - this arrangement is nearly always to the detriment of the customer.
This was just thrashed out and proven in the EU courts, the OTA's are basically crooked and this ruling is expected to be exteneded to the UK soon - this will be great news for everyone except the OTA's. Did you ever wonder how booking.com can afford national advertising?
As I said 99% of the time it is cheaper to book direct - particularly if you can speak to a manager - at the very least you will secure a free upgrade or complimentary wine/fruit chocolates. Any special request will also be properly handled.

Wasn't cheaper for me going direct. The fact that through Earnaway/Hotel.com offering £20 back and also offering a price guarantee, that would indicate that they are not?

Why is a cashback only deal allowed? It's the equivalent of someone posting 12% cashback from TCB for hotels.com and we all know where that would end up.
Why are negative posts being deleted?
Your own code of conduct states staff aren't allowed nor affiliate networks - this is clearly both of those.

Holiday Pirates deals from the past couple of years have been shared by HUKD members just like the poster here. Some members like to copy the information over to HUKD if its something they think the community want to see.
Yep, apologies for that. I've reinstated and communicated why the thread is ok to stay.

magicjay1986
25 May 16#150
You can't vote on a HUKD Pick without clicking through and reviewing the thread. This was introduced as members felt it was not fair that a thread was getting further visibility so there was a likelihood it would attract more hot votes. I've checked the log and your vote was registered around 09:06:01 on 2016/05/25.
The poster of this deal is not Earnaway but a member of the community wanting to share this offer. Earnaway cannot post offers on HUKD as that would breach our site rules. They are allowed to comment in the thread as long as it is only for customer services type enquiries (we allow this for all merchants if they wish to do so). If you feel they're crossing the line in any way, you can send a report over for this to be reviewed.

To be fair, it's their business, they can do what they want. But this place isn't the great user-generated deals community that made it such a great place back in the mid-2000's. Full of self-promotion and pushing deals which aren't very good but make them lots of money.

Using a code on hotels.com means the booking doesn't count towards their reward scheme. So while you’re saving in the short term, normally in the long term your losing out (i.e. cashback and a free room night credit). Does my head in when my other half books a room using a discount code and we end up missing out.
As for people moaning about the PR person replying, I honestly don't see the problem. This deal will benefit a lot of people on here and by having someone from the company answering questions it helps a lot. Saves a thread going on for 20+ pages with people scrambling to find answers.

I am totally in favour of EarnAway or indeed any company coming along and answering questions.
As for
HUKD never claimed to be that. Yes, it's a deals site, but it's also a business which chooses which deals from which companies get published, and earns money from the users which click through. And I'm fine with that. It costs money to run and staff a site like this, and I'd rather have it all up front and the companies interacting than people whining about how the companies never come and answer questions!

Rather a shame to see this post being a 'HUKD pick' with the company replying to each and every post. So much for HUKD being a community of 'guerilla' deals posted by users for users. Now seems to be like everywhere else. Rip HUKD. :disappointed:

Hi all - see a few of your complaints of Hotels.com being down. We've chased up with them and will extend the offer if needs be but you still have til midday Thursday 26th to redeem the offer, so I'd encourage you to keep trying. It seems to be working for us this end and we're getting bookings come through (so I'm hoping they're just momentary issues), but I appreciate that doesn't really help you much.

Payment speeds are a little inefficient, I'll give you that but that's due to the number of parties involved, other than that providing you don't break any terms and conditions, we'll make sure you get the cashback. Obviously each to their own if they want to take advantage of the deal - this is a funded deal to help us try and acquire new users so we're trying to make it as good an experience as possible but if it's cold to you it's cold :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi there it's based on a cookie. So when you click through from our site to Hotels.com a cookie drops (this is tracked via a third party called an affiliate network) and when you purchase it tracks and we are told by the affiliate network. We don't get any information about your booking other than the amount so you don't need to use the same email.

Sure, of course this is in no way a reflection upon Earnaway, but that representative was a complete dis-service to Hotels.com - aggressive sales and failing to listen to my point and reason for my call. I find it insulting to be told that I need to book soon before the deal or room has gone, not hard to see how a lot of older folk would be bullied into the sale!

Just called hotels.com because under terms of the booking it said I must pay a $250 cash deposit upon arrival. The "customer representative" was next level, all she wanted to do was get the booking out of me, I had to tell her to stop and explain that I called to ask a question....
- "Yes sir but I'm your hotel booking representative here to make sure you secure your booking".
- "Thanks but I'm able to make an online booking, but hey I'll read you my credit card details anyway".

Hey Zan, it should track in within a couple of hours at the most (you should receive an email and it will show in your EarnAway account when it does) but feel free to email [email protected] if you've got any issues. Just done as instructed, little apprehensive though about the cashback being tracked...
EarnAway
24 May 164#8
Hey that's exactly the process, well done it's not clear to most . We're looking at ways to speed that up (e.g. try and get paid immediately if you can't cancel the room) but the providers are obviously not entirely happy with this.
anthony69
24 May 16#7
Well, I for one want to say a big thankyou it will certainly be of use to me. Out of interest, how long does it go from say Tracked status to Payable. I guess the hotel actually has to confirm you completed the hotel stay first, so does the hotel notify Hotels.com first , before they then notify you? Sounds like could be a lengthy process? How long does this process take before a transaction goes to Payable after completing the stay?
Hey, please go through this link, if you're already signed in, else go through the sign up process from this post. Hope that helps.

Hi Raj, we're working in partnership with Hotels.com. So when one of our members make a booking on Hotels.com, Hotels.com passes this information back to us. We give you the commission that we make from Hotels.com in the form of cashback. Hope that makes sense.
rajd76
24 May 161#1
It doesn't make sense to me. How does Earnaway would know about hotels.com booking?
Opening post

I got a good deal this time though, better than my other options. Like anything I guess it's just a case-by-case basis.
Thanks for replying.

I registered and booked a hotel at Hampton liverpool for the 30th May 2016.But not recieved any booking confirmation email and not tracked either. I did sign into earnaway too before I made the booking at hotels.com. Worried now, as paid but no confirmation.
Why are negative posts being deleted?
Your own code of conduct states staff aren't allowed nor affiliate networks - this is clearly both of those.
I would bet good money that "djpkinthemix" and "kimbo87" have some sort of connection to Maple Syrup Media.
Yep, apologies for that. I've reinstated and communicated why the thread is ok to stay.
If anyone has any other concerns, feel free to drop the team a message - http://www.hotukdeals.com/contact
As i've said above, if you feel like any merchant is taking their approved HUKD account too far when responding, you just need to fire a report across and we'll take a look.
What's different between Holiday Pirates and EarnAway? Both owned by the same people.
You need to have visited earnaways site and be signed in before going to hotel.com.
Sorry if this has already been asked. Do I book the hotel on the "Earnaway Site" or on hotel.com?
The poster of this deal is not Earnaway but a member of the community wanting to share this offer. Earnaway cannot post offers on HUKD as that would breach our site rules. They are allowed to comment in the thread as long as it is only for customer services type enquiries (we allow this for all merchants if they wish to do so). If you feel they're crossing the line in any way, you can send a report over for this to be reviewed.

Thanks,
EDIT: Just read it may take 6 hours
To be fair, it's their business, they can do what they want. But this place isn't the great user-generated deals community that made it such a great place back in the mid-2000's. Full of self-promotion and pushing deals which aren't very good but make them lots of money.
One thing that these brands have in common - awful websites. EarnAway website didn't work for me. Took ages to load on a superfast connection. Couldn't be bothered so went elsewhere.
As for people moaning about the PR person replying, I honestly don't see the problem. This deal will benefit a lot of people on here and by having someone from the company answering questions it helps a lot. Saves a thread going on for 20+ pages with people scrambling to find answers.

Unless of course it is HUKD Pick and then anything goes.....
Nice deal as well, hope it helps some people out.
As for
HUKD never claimed to be that.
*Edit* Seems sporadically up and down. Give it a go depending on your patience levels but given the size of the company I'm sure they'll have it working properly soon if you want to wait until tomorrow.
If you do something,do it properly.
