Good system, I have one fitted on my house. Got it for this price about 4 months ago from screwfix.

will these work if you have pets at home

we have two cats and would like to get an alarm but am concerned that the animals would set it off all the time

I was actually looking at these alarms the other day, but I know nothing about them so I didn't know whether this was a good deal or not!

I also saw this one which is (apparently) reduced from 300+... I still don't know whether it's any good!

BTW, anyone leave the alarm on at night when you are asleep upstairs? How does it work at night? I only want to turn on the door detector at night rather than the motion detection in the living room, just in case I need to come downstairs to drink some water. Can I do that?

I have one of these and they are decent. I have the key fobs and it also protects the garage. The PIR sets off the alarm when the postman decides to stick his whole hand through the letter box! This is the same as trade price at B&Q.

Old means technology old (433Mhz), not fashion old....

Had it installed for two years, great piece of kit. Easy to install, lots of options. If you put it near a phone socket then it will dial a selection of numbers when the alarm goes off. Bought one remote control which is useful when entering the house with loads of shopping, not a necessary but stops muddy feet everywhere.

Does the external alarm require mains power supplied to it or batteries of some kind?

All if the sensors and the outside alarm work on batteries. Apparently the control unit advise on low battery but I've never seen it yet. The control unit also has battery backup should the power fail or get cut off

What is the problem with 433mhz ? Does it get false alarms from other devices or something ?

Fitted ours couple of weeks back. Simple to install and works perfectly.

How Long did it take before batteries needed chasing?

​Main box battery probably lasts for a year & half and the pir's every 10 months or so. I try & use good quality batteries so I don't need to change them often.

Wireless = Cold.

I have this system now (the one with the round alarms) for about 5 years, its excellent. So long as you use a decent battery (Duracell) in the main alarm unit outside you should get over 3 years from one set of batteries.
Its a very cheap way to add a deterrent to your house.

Yes you can select nightime zones you want active or disabled, its very easy to set up. Its also very easy to add extra sensors, either door/window or PIR.

​With my systems, which has exactly the same keypad but has round external alarms rather than these squarer models and I've had my set up from around 5 years+ and had to change the batteries after around 3 years. We use it every time we leave the house, so its always getting plenty of use. I use Duracell batteries, if that helps.
